I'm going to retype some of the conversation because it won't make sense if I don't. This is still the phone call from Willow to Tara.
Part Four continued
"Do you know where Sunnydale High is?" Willow asked.
"Yeah," Tara said.
"You can pick me up there. I have research to do in the library. Plus you can meet Buffy and Xander and Giles, and I think even Cordelia," Willow said.
"Okay, will you be in the school?"
"Yeah, I'll wait for you in the library. Don't worry you can't miss it," Willow said.
"Willow, I need the phone," Sheila said talking on the other extension.
"Okay, mom, hang up and I'll get off," Willow said. How embarassing her mother interupting her phone call with Tara.
"Now," Sheila said.
"Tara, I have to go, as you heard, but I'll see you Tuesday at six."
"Willow Tuesday is a school night," Sheila said.
"I know mom."
"Bye, Willow," Tara said laughing and hanging up the phone.
"She is so embarassing," Willow thought hanging up the phone, "I wonder how much she heard. I hope she didn't hear us talking about the date. What if she knows? No, if she knew she would have said something. I'm not gonna be able to wait until Tuesday."
Willow got up from the table in the library and checked the hallway for the millionth time. She walked back to the table and flopped down in the chair. She was trying to concentrate on the research, but it was futile. She hadn't been able to think of anything but Tara since she met her. Willow was definately infatuated. She got up and went to check the hallway again.
"Will, calm down. She still has five minutes," Buffy said coming to stand next to her best friend in the hall outside the library.
"I know, I'm just super excited," Willow said.
"Understandable, but Will you...."
"Buffy there she is," Willow said as Tara turned the corner and walked toward them. Willow started walking toward Tara.
"You look great," Willow said meeting Tara halfway.
"You do too," Tara said smiling.
"Come on I want you to meet my friends," Willow said taking Tara's hand and walking toward the library, "Guys, this is Tara."
"Hi," Tara said looking up and giving a small wave.
"I'm Buffy, that's Xander, Giles and Cordelia."
"So you're the one who made Willow gay," Cordelia said.
"Don't answer that," Willow said, "She doesn't know what she's talking about. Besides we have to leave."
"It was n-nice meeting y-you," Tara said.
"I hope we get to do it again," Xander said before Willow could pull her out the door.
Willow was more nervous than she had ever been. Most of the ride to the restaurant was made in silence. Willow was afraid if she opened her mouth she wouldn't be able to shut it. Everytime she looked at Tara her stomach did somersaults, she was so beautiful. Willow looked over and smiled at Tara, she was concentrating so hard on the road. "She looks so cute when she concentrates," Willow thought.
"What?" Tara asked noticing Willow was starring.
"Nothing," Willow said smiling.
"Seriously, what? Do I have something on my face?"
"No, really there's nothing," Willow said," I was just looking."
"Why?" Tara asked.
"Why do you always think there's something wrong when someone looks at you? Don't you know how beautiful you are?" Willow asked.
"I'm not beautiful," Tara said matter of factly.
"Yes you are. You wait and see, when we walk into that restaurant people are gonna stare and it's not because there's something wrong with your hair, or becasue your skirts tucked into your pantyhose," Willow said.
Tara blushed and wished she wasn't driving so she could look down at her lap like she usually did. She was glad to have arrived at the restaurant so she could finally look at Willow the way Willow had been looking at her.
Dinner had gone by much too quickly for Willow's liking and now Tara was driving her home. She was more nervous now than she had been at the beginning of the date. She hoped Tara was going to kiss her when she dropped her off, and not like their kiss the other day, a real kiss. She thought that Tara had been having a good time, they laughed a lot at dinner. Willow really liked Tara, she more than liked her, and if her parents had been out of town it would have been more than a possibility that she would have invited Tara in, but they were home. "I wonder if Tara thinks about me that way?" Willow thought, "I wonder if I should try to kiss her instead of waiting for her to kiss me? I did ask her out."
"Willow which one is your house?" Tara asked bringing Willow out of her reverie.
"Oh, sorry. It's three houses down on the left," Willow said, "That one."
"It's pretty," Tara said pulling into the driveway.
"Thanks," Willow said. She didn't know why she said thanks, it wasn't like she built the house or even painted it.
"I had a really good time tonight," Tara said looking at Willow expectantly, hoping that Willow would kiss her.
"Yeah, me too," Willow said, "I'd like to do it again."
"Me too," Tara quickly responded, she hoped not too quickly.
"Good," Willow said, "Tara can I kiss you?"
"What?" Tara asked not sure she heard Willow correctly.
"Can I kiss you?" Willow asked this time slower.
"Yes."
Willow leaned in and kissed Tara with more passion than she knew she had. In the back of her mind it occured to her that her parents might look out and see, but at that moment, kissing Tara, she really didn't care. A few minutes later they broke apart.
"That was...."Tara said.
"Wow," Willow finished.
"Yeah."
"Well I guess I better go," Willow said, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Tara said watching Willow exit the car.
Willow walked up the path to her house with a huge smile on her face. "I think this is the beginning of a new life for me," Willow thought, "I think Tara's the one."
