These, my friends, are the truest words ever written.

David Letterman referred to decaffeinated coffee as "useless warm brown water." Paul Shaffer even wrote a song about it.

I totally concur.

This is sad. I haven't had coffee in 3 days due to the fact that I can't stand the new creamer I was trying out. It's good for a while...then it just gets gross. I refuse to drink coffee plain or with milk sooo I'm making myself suffer till I can go to the store sometime this week to get french vanilla creamer. So until then I have to be cranky and have headaches due to caffeine deprivation or have soda. Ick. :happy

I remember one time I bought de-caff by mistake.

I had been drinking my usual 8-9 mugs of coffee a day, and I had this constant headache. It was so bad I thought I had a brain tumour or something else really serious.

It was only when I caught on to the de-caff about 4-5 days later and went back to fully leaded that the headaches cleared up. So not only is it blasphemy, it causes physical pain and stress. De-caff should come with a health warning, and that word should be printed in very large letters so no one ever encounters the damn stuff unknowingly.

I really don't get the de-caff thing - why drink coffee if it doesn't have caffeine?

Letterman was right, "useless warm brown water".

May I add that it tasts like useless warm brown SOAP water? Back then, when I lived at home my mom wanted me to try that stuff once, because I really didn't like "normal" coffee and that day I swore to never even touch that soap water-y stuff again. And yes, there should absolutely be some huge warning about it...

Oh, God, yeah, the headache! I have had that and it was definitely one of the worst headaches I have ever had. I knew it was just caffeine withdrawal, so I didn't panic, but it was bad. It felt the way being stabbed in the brain would feel if the brain had pain receptors.

Check this out - caffeine withdrawal syndrome. Fascinating! Scroll around, because that whole page is really interesting.

I have been drinking coffee every day for 34+ years. One week I tried to stop.

Man give me a root canal ANY freaking day of the week. I'll never, EVER do that again.

Oh, YAY! Coffee solved such a huuuuge problem for me today.
My mom and I have been arguing for a few days now and today I had to meet her, because of an appointment. So, when my train was early I went to the coffee shop and got some for both of us and when she arrived she was all like "Ohhh honey, that is soooo sweet of you. I'm really sorry about the way I treated you."... YAY! GO COFFEE!!! :bounce

hmmmmm...it was so hot today, I just had an iced coffee from the local cafe. I usually order cappucino though. Does anyone else think its strange that I sprinkle coffee around my car to make it smell nice? So much better than the funky playdo smell ;-) Oh, and I hate the coffee they serve on planes...it always tastes kinda like it's been in the fridge for a while then reheated.
Anyhow, my friend who is a worse coffee addict than me was in so much of a rush to get to class the other day she chucked a spoonful of instant coffee into her mouth and washed it down with some pretty hot water. Not only did she burn her mouth, but man, it's bad enough drinking the instant stuff let alone eating it dry :crazy

LMAO, this is sooooo crazy,,, That instant stuff is so bad. Ewww. My supervisor drings that stuff all the time and it makes me wanna scream. That stuff is just NO coffee. Sorry, to all those of you, who like it...

Just had my first cup today and it is almost 9 pm over here, but this really lightened my mood. Yay to coffee again!

Edit. Why do I keep on saying "stuff" today? *shrugs*

That, did make me laugh and I'll explain why. I had a read through and when I got to the table of subjects of the caffeine withdrawal trial and saw what subject 10 (with the second highest intake on the list) experienced:
"Multiple costly mistakes at work, manufacturing wrong lenses for glasses, left work early, went to bed early."

Well that's the exact same job I do and all 3 technicians I've worked with so far, (as well as myself) have all consumed large quanities of stimulant drinks in one form or another. Strong coffee, red bull, lucozade or whichever. In a busy week I've been known to get through 4 cans of red bull every day and the guy who trained me having been in the job 30 years had used to do a similar thing until he switched to lucozade as a less heart-attacky choice.
Must be a common feature of the job. I guess.

I've been trying to cut back but have been feeling crappy without the caffeine boost.

I can't remember my life without coffee, I think I've been drinking it since I was like 12 years old... which I'm thinking is kind of young to be drinking coffee. But nonetheless, I love coffee pretty much more than anything. I have a small coffee maker next to my bed and I drink two or three cups from Tim's or Starbucks pretty much everyday. I'm pretty much a certifiable caffiene addict, which is always fun. My friends tried to ween me off it before, but that didn't turn out so well. I need my caffiene fix :).

I'm pretty much a simple coffee girl. I drink it black and strong for the most part (I think I just like to be jittery) but sometimes I'll go all out and put in some cream haha.

Since I am training at my newest job, my coffee schedule is all out of whack. I have coffee in the morning and then coffee when I get home in the afternoon, but during that in-between time, the presence of coffee cannot be relied upon. At my other job, they understood that training is not possible without buckets of coffee. They understand that working there requires buckets of coffee. And, let me tell you, the buckets FLOW there.

But at this new job, they are all like....what is coffee?

Once I get settled in there, I am going to have to work on that.

I was wondering, if there are any other Starbucks addicts here?!
I'm there every day, know all the staff by first name, hobbies, favourite music and all that stuff. :) Yeah, I know, I need a life.
I love the coffee there and those people are just sooooo god damn nice.

Soooo any other addicts out there or is it just me? :)

Before we went to Starbucks on our date, I'd go to starbucks maybe 2-3 times a month. However now that Starbucks reminds me of you and I go there to feel close to you I got there 4-5 times a week!!!
Mmmm mocha frappuccino *dreamy eyes*

I'm having black coffee this morning because we're out of raw sugar (of which I usually only have half a teaspoon anyway, what's the point? *shrug*) and I'm too lazy/still asleep to struggle with the seal on the new milk bottle that needs to be opened. This just goes to prove that I'll drink coffee in any form so long as it contains that most precious element, caffeine. I even drank instant once, but lets not talk about that ;)

Here's a litlle ditty for all the coffee lovin kittens out there..

Milk and Sugar

This song (heck, this whole album) has been on repeat for the last week, it's that good :x

I've been working in a couple of bagel shops for the last 7 years, so with the constant availability of all kinds of coffee/espresso, I've developed a very, very large appreciation for coffee. And quite the addiction, too :laugh

yes, I'm a coffeeholic!
