Most of the storylines may have been crap, the writing was god awful in places, some of the acting was below par at best but I really loved this little show. (And Gabby and Mandy are hawt!!)

I came out when I was 22, I wish there had been a show like this when I was 13 (although I probably wouldnt have been allowed to watch it) to help me come to the understanding that I was gay a lot sooner in life. I watched Xena and all but for someone who was young and confused you really just need to see people to come out and say 'hey, I'm gay' instead of getting confused by subtext. IMHO, Spencer is a great role model for young girls out there, none of this flitting between guys and girls crap, she's just plain 'ol gay and everyone around her has to deal with that.

I never loved it quite enough to jump on the 'save spashley' bandwagon, but I will tune in for the last episodes.

I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the show South of Nowhere, or the network that it airs on, The N. South of Nowhere, a two time GLAAD Award nominee for Best Dramatic Series, is a show that follows the Carlin family as they move from small town Ohio to Los Angeles. The show is really about the journey of the Carlin's teenage daughter, Spencer, as she begins to explore her sexuality upon meeting her best friend
(and future girlfriend) Ashley Davies. This is a teen show whose two main characters are lesbians. I'm sure I don't have to explain to you the impact that this show has had in our community. Unfortunately, the network doesn't see it that way. We were recently informed that this upcoming season will be its last. The last run was scheduled to begin on April 11th, but we have recently been informed The N pushed the series up to air in September 2008. We have gotten little information as to why the series is
being canceled and because of this there has been rampant speculation. What we do know is that the show is the second highest rated on the network (behind Canada's Degrassi, The Next Generation) & only 1 of 2 original programs the network itself produces. In spite of this, the network doesn't promote the show on air. With the premiere coming in less than a month, the network hasn't shown a promo in weeks. I'm sure they're hoping to use failing ratings as an excuse for the cancellation.

Well, like any passionate fan, we are not taking this lying down. We have set up numerous campaigns to let the network & advertisers know what exactly this show means to our community.

One of our goals is to raise viewer awareness of this incredibly groundbreaking show. Because it is on a small network and it doesn't get any mainstream press. This is where we are asking for YOUR help.

We have set up a website, SpashleyU whose main purpose is to introduce people that might not have had the chance to see South of Nowhere when it originally aired due to the limited availability of it's network. We want them to experience the most realistic portrayal of an everyday average girl next door coming to terms with her sexuality and the growing relationship between her and her best friend They
will be able to catch up with Spashley's (Spencer and Ashley) relationship, as well as participate in our call to action, which will be detailed on the site.

We are asking you to help us with our fight, in anyway you can. Whether it be posting a link to our site, mentioning us in your blog, or asking your readers to participate we would be extremely greatful.

This show has an extremely loyal following but we fear it won't be enough if we aren't able to attract new viewers. Thank you again for your consideration!!!

I got hooked on this show when I was downloading it and burning it for a friend. Of course I HAD to check the quality ;) It is actually very sweet and addictive. It's too bad that they are thinking of not continuing this show. :happy

I was asked awhile ago to check this show out. So, while I was deployed, I watched seasons 1 through episode 8 of season 3. Not a bad show. I agree, there are some points in the scripting that could have been better or more fluid. But nonetheless, a pretty good show.

I agree, the show should be saved!!! =)
