Poems and Other

Postby ScottishAsh » Mon Mar 22, 2010 7:19 am

These are a few things i found hiding away on my laptop. Not sure if they were poems or what, but interesting how you find old things now and again to show how far you've come.

The spring dew reflects against the suns hard glare,
the breeze whispering against the proud trees.
The stream flows lazily in these spring days,
before the intense summer comes and the strong winds of autumn appears.
Winter is brutal in the wild.
The wind roars and the trees are proud no more, the river rages and then the darkness comes.

Battle Cry
-This was a tribute to family members who were fighting in Iraq, some returned home safely and some didn't. None of them have ever read this.

Today i stand in arms again for the last time.
My face amoung the fallen, the peaceful and at rest.
I remember everything; The joy, fortune, the passing friendships and the ones that last forever.
The pain and sorrow, the helplessness and shame.
There will be others to take my place on the battle field,
the gap filled.
But memories last longer than most have lived and i will remember it all, if you will, and you will.
And until my last breath and beat of heart
as i fade from shame and memory,
as i depart from glory and mind,
i will love you forever even if it was never said.

Rebuilding

You can't live life to the fullest unless you have truely suffered.
You can't walk down the street with your head held proud,
walking with confidence unless you have struggled
down that same street, weeping and void of hope and faith.
The joy in your heart fills the pain of hurt and shame and you have lived a life of passion, desire, want and need.
Painful truths will be told and admitted, hope lost.
Faith in all things gone.
Everything in darkness is your willing friend and pain your release.
The wounds will remain gaping and full in the darkest parts of your soul, bleeding the hurt and shame into the world.
There are no needs nor growth in the darkness
except which your mind creates,
a monstrosity of a once human form,
but human still, however fleeting.
When you crumble, everything shatters after you.
A world of devistation is finally yours and you sink into it willingly,
the sand dragging you deeper, drowning in its depths.
The dust lingers in the air choking you and the healing wounds a reminder of what you have lost and gained.
And all that is left is you in your destruction, awaiting to be rebuilt.

It is time to sleep. My eyes heavy and my breath deep.
Lingering images of the day dancing behind my eyelids,
willing me awake.
But the night is calling me and so i dream.
I dream of my life, the joy and pain.
The faces that haunted me now fill me with peace.
No longer do nightmares plague my dreamstate.
I dream of my family, my friends
and my long lost loves and the day before
willing my smile to grow in sleep.
And so in death i will smile and no longer wake.

Sad, but very expressive. Nice work.
