So I bought 2 itmes from the vending machine today. Only to find out I couldn't eat them. The Sour Gummy Worms has gelatin(a substance derived from the processing of animal collagen) in it. The Chicharinas(a puffed wheat snack) has lactic acid(also known as milk acid) in it. Why????? Why do these products have to be ruined with animal derived ingredients?

Jenny - The kids got some organic gummy bears in the goodie bags from a party we went to. You know our friends who hosted the party thought "organic"? That will be good then (in spite of their being gummy bears). Yep, no HCF. But gelatin. Luckily for us the kids took "no, these aren't something we eat" totally smoothly and didn't even ask again for them.

Ten years ago today my wife and I got married. It wasn't legal. It wasn't official. Only the two of us, a full moon, and the dog were there. But none of that makes it any less. 10 years! That's awesome.

But anyway, LIKE. As a kiwi I'm biologically programmed to find the Australian accent grating and intolerable so I'd probably have to amend this by saying that Olivia Dunham is a hottie. Exactly the same with Yvonne Strahovski/Sarah Walker. Things like this make me so thankful for American television.

There is something bothering me ever since yesterday and I thought of penning my thoughts down this virtual lane.

For helping some of our beneficiaries move out of their poverty, we decided to go forward with food sustainability projects that revolved around animal rearing.

I wasn't vegan when I initially signed my acceptance for the implementation of such projects but now a few months later, my stomach is churning completely at my direct experiencing of how the animals are being treated.

Yesterday was horrific for my heart when we went for the distribution of hens with their layers. It hurt me to have to watch while living beings were crammed in cages and thrown nonchalantly in a noisy lorry. Then it hurt me more when the men grabbed these living beings by their scaly feet and handed them to the beneficiaries. The look of glee on people's faces as they talked about the eggs and meat they were going to have was making me sick more than anything else. All that mattered to me personally at that moment was how those hens must be feeling. They pecked and cackled and had dogs sniffing at them in excitement and then were pushed forcefully in cages again. That was such an intense shock for me.

And today, my stomach churned again when I looked at the rabbits. I can't believe they are going to be killed to feed humans.

I wasn't at all expecting that I was going to have such intense feelings about this but these feelings occurred.

I was talking to one of my men friends from the "Green Tantra" group and I noticed that he kept on referring to me as a Goddess. This is the first time that a man has called me a Goddess unflirtatiously and actually meant it literally. He was acknowledging the divine feminine within this human woman body and I found that very beautiful. I wish all men could be educated in that way.

You are need to find a part time job when you graduate to start paying them pesky loans, but your full time gig is pretty crazy, so you ask your executive director if she knows any place looking for part time, and she says 'yes....i was meaning to talk with you. We are going to start teaching financial literacy classes and I think you'd be great. I'll get you more info...', and the next day there is an email in your inbox saying 'Please schedule your training dates so you can hit the ground in January.'

All the extra funds, none of the pesky interviews.

So, on the way to work this morning the car 2 in front of me comes to a screeching halt and so do the cars going in the opposite direction. I thought maybe a dog? No, it was a cow. Just some wayward random cow crossing the road in a residential neighborhood. You gotta love Texas!
