Amber's Birthday Gift Ideas!!!

Soo, as we all know, a very special day is fast approaching. Amber's birthday!!! I was pondering what a good gift would be for such a generous, beautiful soul and my mind went immediately to one of her favorite charities: The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. I thought, as a gift, we can each donate a small amount in her name (the minimum donation is a dollar). You can have a birthday message attached to a receipt that would be emailed to her, letting her know that a donation has been made in her name. So umm.. RowanLanfear, I guess you completely missed the past two months of Amber’s “Tara for Trevor” fundraiser?

It’s a great idea to make a donation to the LA Food Bank, or any charity for that matter. One of the charity events Amber held last year, “Tara for Charity” was for this organization. The other was “Runt to the Rescue” for the ASPCA.


Everyone: Please keep in mind that, although there is a minimum one dollar donation requirement, all donations have a processing fee, and require a great deal of work handling these funds. Amber set a minimum donation of ten dollars to enter a prize drawing so that would be a good starting point for contributions. It wouldn’t be cool to flood the LA Food Bank or any charity organization AND Amber’s business e-mail account with one dollar donations just to say Happy Birthday, you know? Not to mention the fact that Amber’s latest fundraiser just ended and she currently has contribution e-mails for THE TREVOR PROJECT to sort through for her special prize drawing. Adding more on top of that for another organization could create a problem for Amber.

The best way to go would be to make a donation (if you can afford it) in her honor and instead of sending her e-mails, tweet a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY message to her via Amber’s Official Twitter. If enough people do this, using #amberbenson in the message, maybe Amber will become a trending topic. She would sooooo dig becoming a trending topic on Twitter. Seeing all those happy wishes for her where the entire twitter-verse can see and help spread the cheer will make her day.

Great idea to drop some cash money to the LA Food Bank in her name as a b day gift. It's very sweet and thoughtful. I know if someone did that for me I would highly appreciate it.

Oh dear, you are absolutely right. Twitter is definitely the way to go! I really should have thought this through a little more (obviously), especially since I had not forgotten about the Trevor project, having donated myself and organized a fundraiser in my town for the project.

Well now that my silliness is out of the way....let us make Amber's Bday a trend!!! Woo!

Agree entirely with the notion of sending a donation in honour of Amber and the idea of a trending topic on Twitter is a good one. As it is just unbelievably expensive to call the US from the UK it looks like my plan to donate to the LA Food Bank has hit a snag so it looks like it will be The Trevor Project or something similar.
