My Music Flows Through the River in Me

Postby HopeHavoc » Sat Mar 05, 2011 3:26 pm

A couple of songs that I wrote. These are very rough cuts. As soon as I have access to proper recording equipment I will record them properly with their accompanying music and everything. Anyway, feel free to leave feedback. Constructive feedback It's always welcomed and appreciated.

Your voice is beautiful. The lyrics to both songs are great, and though the first seems a little less polished they both have great potential. I don't know a lot about music, but the one thing I did notice was that in the first song your breathing seemed a little awkward in a couple spots (I always have the same problem). This music is awesome and I can't wait to hear more!

Thank you, CrazyTaraWitch, for your criticisms. :) They were constructive and therefore, much appreciated.

I will work on the breathing (I can thank my father for my sinus issues) and I will definitely polish up my rough cut little gems. I recently found my microphone (the good one, not the one built into my computer) so I'll see if using that helps with the sound quality. And I'll also be adding music. :)

Hopefully the next batch of updates will be stuff of a higher calibre. ;)

Hi Hope,

Wow, it takes a lot of courage to sing without accompaniment, I admire you for it. :clap :applause :clap

Creative, I like your rhyme scheme - contemporary and complex. On singing advice, I liked the upward lilt on love (happened around 2:10 - 2:15 of the song - shows a different expression).

From a singing viewpoint, my suggestion is to work on breath control. Basically practicing breathing deeply, fully inflating your diaphragm the same way you fill a glass - bottom to top all the way up the holding a steady note. As you strengthen your muscles you have more timing choices on when you breathe and you can take a catch breath or maybe even master circular breathing (don't look at me - never made it myself! :blush) I'm not remotely perfect at all this stuff, but I work on it and have improved some. I made a little extra money performing onstage and sang a song where we actually had to do some simple dance steps while singing. Breath control saved my butt then! Just sayin!

I like your voice, nice quality.

Take care,

Ariel
