Some cats love water... LoL. It'd be your luck(not).

OT: Even new, pictures for ID and Passport always suck.

My child is a complete spaz and apparently has 'puberty brain.' I was going through the pantry yesterday to what we needed from the grocery store and I found an open container of cream cheese on the shelf. Last week I found a box of cereal in the fridge. I also have had to drop stuff off at school that she's forgotten...lunch money, library books, her cell, her violin, a pair of shoes, etc. Sadly, the front office ladies all know me by name, lol.

As of today my team is merged with another team. Their team lead is now all our manager (higher than lead). He reports to the chief of staff and our former manager is out of our chain of command. I am not surprised and hope this will be good. Our manager was very...lets say high strung. I hope he will be better. I think this is my sixth manager in as many years.

I just saw a tractor being ridden down the street. I live in an old neighborhood in a large city. This is not normal. He parked said tractor, made a phone call, and walked away.

I'd also like to mention that was wearing chinos. WTF?

My mother's glasses case ended up in my purse this morning. She had her sunglasses but I had her normal ones. I took them to class and everything, had to slip out after a meeting and give them to the front desk between classes. She texted me: 'did you drop my glasses?' Thinking she wants to know if I broke them, I respond 'Nope'. Later I realize what she might have meant and send another one: 'I did drop them off at the front desk. I did not drop them on the ground or a table. They are intact. I think.'

I was sitting at a restaurant today eating. There was an older woman a few booths down from me reading a book. She finished a chapter i suppose because she got up to get a refill on her drink and she had the biggest smile on her face. i couldn't see the title of the book from where i was sitting, but i was wondering what she had just read that made her grin like that. It made me wonder about the characters and what the storyline of the book was.

Really?

I was walking away from a casual conversation with some friends when one of them ran up, grabbed me by the arm, and asked frantically, "Y'know that group of people that you like? Y'know, that you like to hang out with and stuff? Am I in that group?"
I was rather confused, as we've been friends for nearly two years now (at least in my mind). I responded, "Well, yeah. You're my friend; that puts you in the 'like' circle."
She said okay really excitedly and walked away. The only reason I can think of for her to ask was the fact that earlier I had, upon seeing a rater rude display from a group of graduating seniors, commented, "This is why I dislike people." I guess she was just feeling insecure?

Re: Random Moments

I have no idea why, but this moment from when I was 15 or 16 came to me recently:

I was dating my first girlfriend, and a bunch of us where at a friend's cabin playing RPGs all weekend. When we were on our way to bed, one of our friends, who had recently converted to Catholicism (from atheism, oddly enough), and I had this conversation:

Ben: "Don't you think you're kind of young to make a big decision like [being/calling yourself gay]?"

Me: "Well, the choice on my part is what to call it. I know I'm attracted to girls right now, and not to guys. Based on that observation*, the word I use to describe myself is 'gay.' If later I find myself attracted to guys, I'll describe myself as "bi." And if I find that I'm not attracted to girls, I'll be kind of confused, because I'm know I'm in love with Katie (yes, both my girlfriend and I were Katies; I go by both Kate and Katie). But if that goes away for whatever reason, I'll call myself straight. Because that's what those words mean."

I remember being really confused, because I didn't understand the premise of the question. Like, how could I be too young to examine who I looked at and had sexy-type feelings for, and then start using the standard English word for the category I fit into? I was old enough to have sexy-type feeling for people, wasn't I? My peers were certainly dating, and Ben didn't ask them if they thought they were too young to identify as straight. Hell, I knew for a fact that he had been dating when he was my age.

Oddly enough, when I did re-identify as bi, it was much weirder and harder for me, because I'd spent so much time thinking of myself as gay. It was the change that was hard on me. Since I'd never identified as straight, saying I was gay was a pretty easy thing to do.

*Yes, I'm a big nerd, and actually talk like this. And did when I was that age. But he's a physicist, so it was appropriate.

On Friday I was standing at the front desk at my studio and I saw something move on the other side of the glass door. At first I thought it was a dog, but it turned out to be a baby deer and he/she was adorable! It was so strange, the little Bambi just walked right up and laid down. He stayed for awhile...until my assistant's giant head scared him off, lol. See offending head below! :whip

Had a group of post-adolescent hooligans yell 'dyke' at me on the street today. Haven't had that happen in a looong time. It's a little off-putting, and I am always way too slow to respond. I stood there, rather shocked, but next time I will yell back 'hell yeah' or 'troglodyte' or something a little more clever than silence.

My daughter, who just graduated 6th grade, was going through the mail tonight. She opened a letter, jumped out of the chair and came running across the living room waving the paper. Practically hyperventilating and grinning from ear to ear.

J: It's here! It's here!!!!
ME: What is it?
J: The letter! The one I've been waiting for!
ME: Okaaay, what letter?
J: The math letter, the one for the test!! I'M SO EXCITED! I can't WAIT to take Algebra!

What is the letter, you ask? Registration to take the exam for acceleration to 8th grade math. I can honestly say that never in my entire life have I ever been nor will I ever be excited about taking a math test...ever.

As I was walking home tonight, I saw an orange kitten just outside my front yard. I called out "Otis," which is the name of my roommates' orange kitten. Otis stopped and looked at me then started walking toward the street. I called out again, cause Otis isn't the brightest and is very new to going outside and I was worried he'd get hit by a car. He once again stopped walking and looked at me, then he just lay down on the driveway next to the neighbor's yard, so I let him be.

I come inside, and who do I find laying on the floor in the entryway? Otis.

OK, so I'm sitting here on the KB trying to feedback a fic and I hear this loud THUD. So loud, that the dogs jumped up and ran to the back door. My wife was sitting out on the deck and I thought maybe she fell or something so I got up and ran to the backdoor as well. Turns out that a dove, flying full speed, slammed into one of the upstairs windows; killing it instantly from a broken neck. It hit the window and fell straight into the leaf net for the pool. How weird is that? Poor thing. :sob

That just brought back a long forgotten childhood memory. My grandparents used to have butterfly stickers on their sliding glass doors about knee high because their granddaughter *cough me cough* used to run straight into them...repeatedly.

Ok. King size mattress gone. I put it on craigslist for free. A guy contacted me within an hour and came over when he got off work. I love Craigslist and recycling. I love that even though we bought a new/used memory foam mattress, to him it's probably great.
