I went on a 10 mile bicycle ride by myself yesterday. There's a paved path that runs the length of the waterfront downtown that's easily accessible via bike lanes from my apartment. Since it was a holiday, downtown was practically deserted, and I had a lot of time to relax and to just enjoy my surroundings. I also took loads of photographs of things I saw. It was surprising to see the change from old, lower middle class neighborhood, to rejuvenated and rebuilt downtown, to historically restored downtown, to a completely green and natural environment (did NOT feel like i was in the city anymore), and then to the impoverished and forgotten west side of town. So much change in such a small amount of space.

In ANY case, it was great exercise, fun, and I'm getting some excellent feedback on my photographs. And except for getting whacked in the face by a windblown willow tree, it was a great day!

It's only 64 degrees out. I think the high is supposed to be in the low 90s. I just got to run without breaking a sweat walking out the door. Now that is awesome.

I'm starting driving lessons in 2 weeks! :D Plus the lady was really nice and will do the lessons in English rather than the French man they have giving me lessons, for his exam results tend to be bad. She is really really nice, live not far from me, and is willing to, at some point, give me a free hour before the exam (after her work hours). :)

Earlier I posted some 'crappy feelings,' then I was reminded of something funny that happened today and I laughed like an idiot until I cried. I would tell the story here, but it was one of those "you had to be there" things. I'll just say it was like a scene from Jackass and it was hilarious! Especially since I got to document it photographically. :grin

Got an email from my father to tell me thanks for my postcards and to tell me he hopes to see me again soon. :)

And to make the day even better, J stopped by with Niels on their way from the swimming pool. That kid makes us so happy!

This is really dorky (even for me), but it makes me extremely happy that I finally did my fandom justice and wrote out a good explanation for why I love Doctor Who so much. It had been bugging me for months that I'd never been able to properly answer why it's my favourite show, and now I have and I feel very successful!

Today was one of those rare days where I felt really good about being me. First I was finally able to put some thoughts and ideas down on paper in a way I was really happy with, then I had my itty-bitty nephew really *look* at me for the very first time, then I had my family all tell me that I sounded wonderful when we sang, and just now I discovered comments on what I wrote earlier from people saying that I said it better than anyone else and that there was nothing else to add. Generally compliments make me feel more than a little uncomfortable, but today I didn't mind so much. It's nice to have the occasional day where people tell me I'm good at things, and more importantly that I believe it.

The kids' godfather is coming over to babysit so my wife and I can go out for my birthday! I think we're going to go hiking and then eat Ethiopian buffet. Not sure what else.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

BTW...'Ethiopian Buffet' made me giggle. Reminded me of 'When Harry Met Sally'...

HARRY: "We're talking dream date compared to my horror. It started out fine, she's a very nice person, and we're sitting and we're talking at this Ethiopian restaurant that she wanted to go to. And I was making jokes, you know like, "Hey I didn't know that they had food in Ethiopia? This will be a quick meal. I'll order two empty plates and we can leave." Yeah, nothing from her not even a smile."

Katie - Facebook is to be believed. My birthday is Monday but we got a babysitter for today.

Shel - I love Ethiopian food! Especially buffet with so many kinds of lentils and greens. Yum and healthy. Plus the bread stuff (Injera) is amazing but it's got gluten so I can't eat it.

To all the people in my life, to all that may be apart of my life some way some how. To those who I am still getting to know, but also contribute to my happiness. I have to say thank you with a big hug behind it. It's one thing to care about people and another thing to love them. Thank you for all the love I receive on a daily bases. Words aren't enough to express my gratitude. This isn't just today, but always. My heart is yours.

Con mucho amor hoy y siempre!

Hella good day today! Took charge on some shit. I don't like run around bullshit. I get to the point and make things clear. Sometimes I walk in a little too confident. :P Not Kanye West style though. I have a little more respect. More to my point. Cos of my actions I was able to hook up a friend with a job. I walked into a company that I don't even belong to, but they happen to be contractors where I do work. So I am familiar with them. Since they know me right away doors opened up. I love the feeling of knowing that you reap what you sow. My friend told me they had the up most respect for me. And had the most wonderful things to say about me. I wasn't expecting that actually. I know I treat people good, but it's always nice to hear you know?

We got the studio/apartment we wanted!!! Will have to adjust to living in a so much smaller place, but will enjoy the easiness to heat in the winter, living closer to so many things, and saving so much money on rent!
Also today I had my 4th driving lesson (each of 2 hours) and I went as fast as 90 km/h (sorry my brain is too sleepy or me to remember how to convert to miles, but it is like 45 I guess?)... Not that fast in theory but man, for me it was! :D

It's only 79 degrees out so we have the windows open.
We're almost done pulling the carpet out of Chiara's room and getting the paint off the floor.
Asher rode his bike without training wheels. Not far and he needs practice but it was his first time.
Chiara read a book! A book about a fat cat who sat. Then a dog who got on a log but she didn't finish that one.

Asher rode his bike without training wheels and Chiara read a book!
YAY for milestones!!! :applause I think Jordan was 4 when she ditched the training wheels, but didn't read a book by herself until she was 6, Green Eggs and Ham. She was an incredibly slooooow reader...now she always has a book in her hand:)

My happy feelings are kid related as well...Jordan, who is 12, got invited to take the SAT! Unofficially and just as a benchmark to see what her strengths and weaknesses are. It'll be interesting to see where she stands, I just hope it doesn't have the opposite effect on her...she HATES getting poor test scores.

A couple years ago, my life was amazing. There've been a lot of ups and downs since, but I always and forever have those memories, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Day after tomorrow will be the anniversary of the best day of my life, and just knowing that it happened makes me so very happy. I loved and was loved in return, something I had feared would never happen, and it was magical. The end doesn't matter so much anymore. It happened and it was wonderful, and I will always have those memories. I will always have the day, two years ago day after tomorrow, when it felt like every dream I'd ever had was coming true. I'm so very happy that nothing has tarnished that memory for me.

I'm happy to be able to say, 1000%, that every second was worth it.

I had a hella good weekend. A special shout out to all my peeps for making my weekend what it was. Not to be cocky here but I gotta thank myself here too. lol. Sounds weird I know. :P It's being open minded and the way I socialize how things come my way. I love spending time with anyone so to speak. Making the best out of everything.

Just grateful for Kate-cuddles. She puts her arm around me and everything shines - definitely magic. When I was down a few days ago and felt scared I called her and could feel her warmth and caring right through the phone. :love

We brought the kids' bikes to the farm and now after 1 time riding without training wheels before Asher is totally rocking it. He keeps going out to ride and going back and forth on the big circle drive. He has even started slamming the brakes to skid! It's just so exciting every time he manages to master a new skill.
