This is what the slo-mo button on the DVR remote was envisioned for; Amber in the skirt cum belt as her wardrobe for her Ringer apperance.
I'm still waiting for that film she made where she's wearing the Princess Leia style gold bikini.
Glad you got to spend some time in her presence; she's worth travelling any distance to be with.

Although her name was originally reported as 'Mary' so it is curious that they changed it to 'Tara'. Still, I really don't think it's a deliberate 'fuck you'. I mean scan dcp, there's plenty of people who've already envision our Tara as a stripper

It's probably more the writers having some fun, isn't there quite a number of crew from Buffy on Ringer anyway?

Also, the fact that they changed her name probably means it isn't even mentioned in the show, so you can just choose to ignore it anyway

I never thought it was a f* you, I do however think that it was intentionally done to mess with BtVS fans. You can't think from all the names they had to choose from and literally change to, that Tara was just accidentally picked.

As for Tara being a stripper, it's fun if she dresses up like one for pretend, but to be her actual career. I really don't want to think of her that way and wouldn't read any fic with that as her profession.

I'm hoping you're right and her name never comes up.

I tend to think the writers, if knowingly adding the name to the character, meant to honor her past work in Buffy, seeing as she will be a guest star with the original star of Buffy and with some of the past Buffy writers. I agree with everything you said. Also, it will probably only add to the hype surrounding her episode/get more Buffy fans on board. It's their mid-season finale, so they want to go out with a bang and that means as many viewers as possible.

AmbersSecretAdmirer, you can disagree with True_Love all you want but don’t be rude about it. She has the right to her opinion just as much as anyone else here.

We can only guess the motivation behind the creators/writers naming, or re-naming, this Ringer character Tara.

In addition to Laragh’s and Dana5140’s comments:

1) Sarah Michelle Gellar is the co-executive producer and has always been respectful and appreciative of BTVS fans and she is good friends with Amber.

2) It is Amber’s choice to audition for, and accept, acting work portraying a character that meets a fatal end, suffers brutality, is promiscuous, etc. Just as she has accepted roles as a heroine, sweetheart, “good” vampire, caregiver, friend, lover, etc. It’s highly likely the only time Amber didn’t know exactly what she was getting into was during her time as our beloved Tara in Buffy. It is important to note Amber has already proven that she will refuse work that she believes will hurt W/T fans.

3) The character “Gemma Butler” is played by actress Tara Summers.

True_love, I intend to ignore the character’s name and simply enjoy Amber gracing my television screen once again. High ratings for Amber’s guest appearances are good for her career. I hope you tune in.

Besides, she needs the work. You know she lost her health insurance for awhile because she didn't make enough acting? She got it back, but still...that's gotta be nerve-racking. Plus, the writers on these shows are ALWAYS doing stuff like this. If you watch HIMYM on a regular basis, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The only unfortunate thing is that the part is not bigger and I doubt it's reoccurring.

Interesting trilemma; intentional slap, unintentional, or intentional tribute/hello. If I could read minds . . . I'd use it for more productive things, like in a poker game, than in investigating a TV show :-)!

Hmm, I could even call it a birthday gift, except none of them know me.

Speaking of gueste appearances, Is aw the _Cold Case_ ep. on reruns a couple weeks back. I alwyas thought "Get Together" by the Youngbloods was a nice song, but it means more to me now since watching the detective imagining seeing the victims looking on.

And I think I've discovered *one* reason why Amber's eyes are so amazing. I never noticed it until some of the shots in this ep., but she has rather amazing brow bones. (For a woman; not saying that her forehead is in *any* way unfeminine, but it is sex-linked; men are more likely to have obvious bones in that area; women tend to have rounder foreheads.)

Here, here! If her character becomes recurring, I hope they can manage to write in some scenes with Sarah next time 'round, it would be great to see them on screen together again.

Sassette and I wrote an adventure for the Buffy RPG YEARS ago where Tara gets magically imprinted with the personality of a stripper turned informant. Trouble is the stripper was dead and now Tara knows everything she did.

I could give 2 sh*ts what her character's name was. It's wonderful to see Amber on the small screen again. The fact that she can play so many different roles is a testament to her acting abilities. She is not Tara Maclay. She is Amber Benson and I would watch her no matter what her character's profession was. I'm as big a Tara fan as anybody out there. But, i'm able to seperate the Actress from the Character and enjoy seeing Amber in just about every movie she has ever made (Gryphon was a bit hard to swallow).
