Help for a Chapter (Fan Phenomena: BtVS)

Hi!!!

I am working on a chapter for a forthcoming book titled Fan Phenomena: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's going to be published by Intellect ltd. My chapter is focusing on reactions to Buffy from fans who are part of the LGBTQ community. I'm super excited about this project and opportunity! (Though I will admit I am nervous about doing it justice!) xita has been extremely helpful and suggested that I post to the Kitten forum for more help. I would especially love to get some testimonials on or learn about inspirational reasons for writing slash fic, writing W/T fan fic, joining the Kitten board, or reactions to the show itself. Really anything anyone is willing to share is extremely appreciated. My first manuscript is due June 1st. Sooo soon! If you can PM me that would be great!

Hey all!

I thought it might be easier if I just post some specific questions, rather than write a general post like my last one. Plus this way you'll know what I'm looking for too. I checked with xita first, of course, and she told me that it was okay to post them. If you wouldn't mind answering the questions that would be awesome and I couldn't thank you enough (well other than in the citations for my chapter of course). Please PM me with the answers.

Questions about Buffy


What made you become a fan of Buffy? Of Willow and Tara?


Can you talk about or explain your connection with the shows Lesbian and Gay characters, episodes, etc., if any?


What role or contributions do you feel Buffy has played in the representation of LGBT characters and themes? Please explain your answer.


Since my chapter is on the LGBTQ community's reactions to Buffy, I'm highly interested in hearing about personal connections with the shows of those Kitten members who self identify as LGBTQ. Therefore, if you do identify as LGBTQ, can you explain how your personal LGBTQ identity relates (if at all) to your fan interests in the show itself? In other words, how does your LGBTQ identity relate to your Buffy fan identity? Please only share what you are comfortable with here.


What are some of your favorite episodes and why? What are your favorite characters and why? Do these relate at all to your LGBTQ identity? Please explain.
