Willow and Tara First Meet Weekend, MKF 12/14/02

Postby BytrSuite » Sat Dec 14, 2002 5:58 am

Today is the anniversary of the date that Hush first aired, Dec. 14, 1999.

The anniversary of Willow and Tara's first meeting. There sure were some sparks flying there when they clasped hands in that laundry room three wonderful years ago. :love

So do you all have any first meetings that turned out to be of bigger importance than you ever thought possible? Or, if you think Willow and Tara would celebrate an anniversary today, what would they do to mark the occasion?

I think that Willow & Tara would mark the day in some small way, if only in remembrance of it. Not as much as a "promise day" but more than a regular day.

But this thread reminded me so much of this poem that I wanted to share it.[quote:8803ce8bb1]Quote:
The First Day
by Christina Rossetti

I wish I could remember the first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me;
If bright or dim the season, it might be
Summer or winter for aught I can say.
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree,
That would not blossom yet for many a May.
If I could only recollect it! Such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow.
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much!
If only now I could recall that touch,
First touch of hand in hand! -- Did one but know!

That's a great poem Suzy; I always liked the intensity of that particular verse. Because I think that the moment in the laundry room was so entirely intense for Willow and Tara; it still takes my breath away whenever I watch it. I get all tingly when they touch hands - thankfully that's a moment that hasn't lost anything for me. In fact, if anything, it's still as full of promise as it was the very first time I saw it. And god, I can remember that night so very clearly, heh heh.

As for important meetings, well, yes, I've had some really important meetings that didn't seem so at the time, but on reflection were probably conducive to my life changing in mysterious and not-so-mysterious ways. Recently, I remember the first moment I walked into my little house where I live now and instinctively knew I'd be happy here. And god, I have been. It's fabulous in a way that my previous addresses haven't been. You have to love that "just knowing" something.

However, I believe that the most important "meeting" is yet to come. Although honestly, that's pretty much of a no-brainer in terms of whether it will be positive or negative. Heh. But it's going to be a confirmation of so many things that I'm really rather excited. :)

Thanks for this thread. And the poem made me *sigh* skittles. May I borrow it for inclusion in Willow and Tara's Room? Of course I'll give you credit. Thank you. Just remembering W/T's first meeting makes me all gooey over and over and that single moment when they clasped hands started a relationship that changed the face of television history:

Here's a quote from Amber:

[quote:f3bc2bc540]Quote:
"...I think if I have known [re: Tara as a lesbian] it wouldn't have bothered me in the least just because as an actor you want to play cool parts. It was really the first real long term lesbian relationship on network television in the States. I mean, we were doing service to the world I think and so going into it I think that I was really pleased that I got to be the person to step into Tara's shoes and play her and kind of send my support and love out there to everybody who is kinda going... people who are going through hard times. In the beginning I truly believed that the magic was sort of an allegory for the lesbian relationship. It was very orgasmic (re: Flaming O spell in Who Are You) [laughs] I mean Alyson and I truly felt like we were, you know, getting it on without actually taking our clothes off. Really we're talking about the relationship and how we're different and it can frighten some people eventhough it's crazy because it doesn't really matter who you're sleeping with, it matters what you do with your life and how you treat other people..." - Spaceflow (Space Channel, Canada)
[/quote:f3bc2bc540]

As for celebrating their anniversary, I'm just thinking Willow and Tara might just go out for dinner and a movie and make love all night. :rollin

eekdgeek, it is not my poem. It was written by Christina Rossetti, a very good writer & poet. She was sister to Dante Rossetti, the writer & painter.

As far as inclusion on your web page: I "think" that the poem is 'out of copyright' so you could use it. But I would check to make sure. I have no problem with you using it. You might want to read some more of her poetry. It is absolutely wonderful.

Skittles, the poem is lovely :heart

I have had a couple of chance meetings which have turned into something far more than I ever thought they would. They are "usually" fantastic.

There is one particular chance meeting which helped me make a great friend which turned more meaningful later. :grin

Strange coincidences always seem to be for a reason later don't they? :D

Edited - I can't spell again!!!

hey, skittles - thank you for posting that poem, it's beautiful! :heart

I think Willow and Tara would celebrate by returning to that very laundry room. They'd work the same magic to shut themselves in to stop disturbances while they worked their own loving magic on each other! :drool

Not sure where to put this, so decided on the weekend thread for now. This is from a Boston Globe article published yesterday (12/13). It might be fun for any kittens in the Boston area. If anyone goes, I would love to hear about it. That's about 3,000 miles from me, so not an option :(

The article about the Queer Soup acting troupe is interesting.

i think that they should take a trip to the laundry room..sit on the very spot they held hands...and just hold eachother..taking in the scent of love:love ..the feelings they have for eachother...and of course a little celebration after the remembrance! :grin

Mmmmm... Willow+Tara+laundry room= Gushing, tearful me. When the hell did I get so sappy? Anyways...

I remember the first time I met my long-time confidante and constant object of fascination very, very well. It was in the eighth grade... She was new, from a bigger city, and very different from everyone else- outwardly and inwardly. I didn't dream she would *actually* want to be around me, let alone form a friendship with my lowly self, but as fate would have it, we got together. We now joke about that, because she's told me the first time she saw me she thought I was beautiful, and then she does this funny thing where she describes what I was wearing that day, the little minx... I laugh because I always harrass her about that, but I remember exactly what she was wearing too, lol (beautiful peasant style top with army fatigues)... Anyways, it was love at first sight. Not romantic love (though we did fool around a bit in high school) but very deep and meaningful nonetheless. She's seeing a very, very lucky girl now, and I'm really excited for her, because she *always* runs away from commitment if she thinks about it too long.

OK, I know this is kinda OT, but I need to gush. I met THE most amazing girl (for the first time, which makes this at least a little on topic) at a vigil on December 6th, and I just saw her again today at Wal-Mart. I was buying chocolates and gummy candy for a Secret Santa present and she was buying a shirt to go along with the suit (Goddess she's cute) she was wearing to a local L/B/T women's Christmas dinner and dance... At least, I assume that was where she was going, the community isn't that big around here. Anyways, I wanted to go to this dinner, but I had my staff party to attend, and it was a free supper on my boss vs. a very expensive ticket to the formal. As I am a poor student and had nobody to go to the formal with anyways, I went to the staff party. I really wish I could have gone to the dinner though, just to get the goods on her, lol... I hope she's not seeing anyone... So, anyways, I hope that first meeting becomes something we both remember :)

Ohhh, good thread!! I too can't help going all tingly when I watch that scene in the laundry room...I swear you can actually see electricity arcing around the room the moment they touch!!!! :thud :grin

In celebration, I too would like to offer up the following poem...it is titled 'Soulmates' and is written by...well, someone not a million miles away...:blush

Soul Mates.
Like the wind that blows across the sea,
My soul had wandered from place to place,
Never resting for one moment too long,
Until the day my eyes first glimpsed your face.

I could feel my pulse skip and quicken,
Double thumping as you returned my gaze.
My mind clouded and my vision narrowed
As you floated into my heart and through the haze.

You stood before me, perfect as the stars,
A light shining out of your emerald eyes.
Your silken hair moved gently with the breeze,
Caused by the breath from my murmured sighs.

We lifted our hands at the exact same time,
Needing to check that this magic was real:
And when our fingers touched, the world stopped moving:
Pausing in response to the love we could feel.

Each day that passes from that moment on,
Is a voyage of discovery that shall never end,
And though the winds still blow, they carry not my soul,
For it is united with yours my love, my friend.

:shy Well, hope you enjoyed it...my magical first meeting would have to be the night I met my best friend...little realising at the time exactly what was set to blossom between us, some 4years later! ;)

Have a great weekend Kittens! And Happy Anniversary :willow and :tara :love

Snuggles,
Pillows xxx:love

Re the Rosetti poem...I think if something is over 100 years old then there is no copyright on it unless someone has gone on and bought the rights to it. You might be okay but I would check first.

As for what our girls would get up to on their anniversary, I think they wouldn't leave their room :drool

:sh Ahhh my sweetheart is in bed ill with possible food poisoning, and unlike me she doesn't like to be pampered and stuff so I'm stuck for something to do. After reading this thread I'm going to go and close the curtains and switch on the projector and watch some W/T eps from their meeting onwards. Larger than life size :willow and a :tara on my lounge wall ohhh what a lovely Sunday I am going to have.
(I will keep an eye on my honey tho I promise)

I got my 60second news email in this morning and there was an article about a School of Witchcraft in Austria.......

Danaketh's school of witchcraft & wizadry

If you've always fancied becoming a witch then a three year course at a school of witchcraft in Austria should be on your wish list.
Sounds a bit too Harry Potter, but the headmaster of Europe's first School of Witchcraft in the city of Klagenfurt, Andreas Starchel, says it's more scientific than hocus pocus:

"Everything that is taught and learned at our school can be proven using natural scientific and psychological methods."

"We teach everything needed to become a real witch in the historical sense, that is to have an all-encompassing knowledge of nature and a highly developed sense of intuition."

Occult

Andreas, or Danaketh his druid name, rejects any connection with the occult:
"Witchcraft has got absolutely nothing to do with the folklore image of evil witches with green faces and warts on their nose.

"It's about becoming a rounded person who lives in harmony with nature," said the goatee-bearded druid.

So, unfortunately there'll be no broomsticks, wands, or growing of large nasal warts.

Magic spells

Instead, student witch Katharina, says: "The school offers plausible explanations for phenomena based on fact, there's no hocus-pocus", damn.

But she does mention potions: "It started off as curiosity about mushrooms and herbs, but then I realised that I simply wanted answers to so many things I couldn't comprehend and that this school could provide me with them." she said while hunched over a toadstool.

If Austria seems a bit far to go to become a witch don't worry you can study on the web. Did we tell you what they used to do to witches in Elizabethan England?

When I met April, I knew. I swear I did. And I always consider the day we met Febuary 14, 1990, our anniversary.
So I do beleave in true love.
*gush over*
Ok, ignoring all that, I see Dawn throwing them a surprise Party. And them having had more intimate plans.

A first meeting that turned out to be of more importance than I expected was the first time I met my now partner at a party. She arrived late after work when the party was winding down and I'd already 'hooked up' ;) with someone else. I noticed her but we only got to say a couple of words to each other. At the time I had no idea how important being at that party was because the next time we met and got to talking I fell for her. Eight years later and some awesome memories later we are still crazy about each other.

I think for W/T's anniversay Tara would surprise Willow with a candlelit dinner for 2 at home/her dorm and as eekdgeek pointed out make love all night (okay maybe not all night 'cause of classes the next day but for many, many hours :) ).
