Ready for some footbalI? It's Denver Bronco Weekend MKF 9/7

Postby moominmamma » Sat Sep 07, 2002 5:56 am

I'm ready for long Sunday afternoons and lots of big, beefy guys. I must confess, though, I bring the football curse with me. Whenever I move, the home football team goes into a long decline.

At first, it just seemed like bad luck. The Seahawks in the 70s, the Chargers in the 80s, the Eagles in the 90s. But then, I moved to Pittsburgh the year after their AFC championship. Of course, the team goes into a dismal decline.

So good luck, Kittens. I'll try not to root for any of your favorite teams.

Oh, I had my speakers down - that's so cute! And her ears and tail twitch if you put the mouse over them. So funny. :)

And while I'm here - Happy New Year to the Jewish kittens!

Oh, Rane, have fun! You'll probably see my mom if you went to services where you said you would.

She and my sister and I had a big fight last night about going to Temple. As you can see by my being here, I won. My sister did too, saying that she's not going to Temple on her birthday.

Shamelessly going off-topic in order to whine now.

Just wanted to say, I have to work on a Saturday evening. And tommorow. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Still, I think it's whineworthy, so here I go ;)

Have a nice weekend everybody :grin

as much as i admire the physique of sports people , the only 'sport' i actually involve myself in is SnowBoarding , and thats only really because i look cool doing it , and so do all the other girls.

*i really was gonna try and say something of value about sports , but i'm in need of a bit of sympathy :sigh - my goddamn parents came home for holiday a day early without even ringing to say they were and they found things....many things , i have only just got in from work and they were here when i got in , so i did not have a fighting chance of hiding all of my stuff.....ie- Lesbian Stuff - and it was everywhere. yup. as were a few bud bottles and empty fag packets . :spin

they might as well have come home to find heroin and a pimp.

everyone say yeah! thankgod i go to uni in a few weeks!

Today's my birthday. I'm still hung over. [b:4b04c13f35] (xita, that makes 3 times!)[/b:4b04c13f35]

Lots of college football is on TV, and my selections for this week's office pool are panning out nicely...

What can make for a better weekend? Oh, right, going to Birmingham to meet Amber.

Y'know, after watching Geri "I don't court publicity" Halliwell tonight on [i:4ff57d92d8] Popstars : The Rivals[/i:4ff57d92d8] I'm kind of going off that six-in-a-bed idea I once had about the Spice Girls. What made me laugh however, was the fact that she was sitting there giving other people advice on how to sing. Seeing as she was about the only member of the Spice Girls who couldn't even look a tune in the eye, never mind hold one.

Irony's kind of ironic that way. :rolleyes

Sorry to say, I don't have much to add about sports.

But.....Happy Birthday to the birthday kitties. And...Shana tova u'm'tukah - a happy and sweet year filled with blessings to both Jewish and non-Jewish kittens.

I don't think I own ANY sports-related stuff. Oh, one thing - an old Blue Jays/Braves '92 World Series t-shirt. I wear it when all my other comfy shirts are in the wash.

Damn, that thing's almost 10 years old now. Scary...

I don't own any "scary" sports items, although a Stephon Marbury bobble-head doll might fit. As for football I am a big Indy Colt fan so go Peyton, and maybe with Dungy being the new head coach the Colts can learn to actually play defense!

Seriously, the last meeting that game was amazing and showed the first cracks in the Rams horrid 2000 defense that allowed the third most points ever in a season. At any rate, I have a full day of football planned and it should be a fun day and a great game. Except for having to listen to Chris Collinsworth call it. ;)

[/quote:9605b468d6] Lucky me. Our local KOA 850 radio guys are great. Just ask RelativeGirl who I think survives on them. :) The only time we listen to the TV guys is during MNF on an away game or, in the past if Madden was in the booth.

To you non-football fans forgive our indulgence. It's a big thing to some of us. Did I mention I own 2 pair of Bronco socks? ;)

And damn CSU lost tonight. But it was a great 4th quarter. My only bright spot was that it may be the precurser for a Rams losing weekend.

Well I can listen to Jack Snow and the gang via the Internet, but the computer is in the room rather far from the TV. So must live with the Fox broadcast teams, which is always hard on the ears. Aikman and Collinsworth, Fox's new First Team aren't too bad. They did the Rams Titans preseason game about a month ago. But Aikman is ok Collinsworth is up and down. I will still have the audio going on the computer and run in here for occasional injury updates and other news that I know I will get from the Rams broadcast team first. Also of course to be in the chatroom with my Ram fan friends as has been a ritual for about 4 years now. It was especially important when I was living in Florida.

Also I got my tickets today for the October 6th game vs the Whiners at the Stick in SF. I also have tickets for the game in Seattle in Dec. So lets play some football!

Ah, American football! Just like Canadian football, except with a smaller field, a smaller ball, fewer players and without any, you know, touchdowns. Wonder at how every game ends with the score 13-6. Marvel at how the last 30 seconds of every game takes 45 minutes to play. Watch as this Canadian runs for cover.
I'm gonna get kilt aren't I? :paranoid

Yeah, you apparently missed the memo about how the Rams averaged about 32 points a game last year. Where Marshall Faulk is going for his 4th consecutive 2000 yards combinded rushing / receiving season, Warner going for his 4th consecutive 3000 yards passing and the Rams will again attempt to be the first NFC West team to win back to back titles in over 10 years. Of course considering that NFC West is now 50% new, that record kinda doesn't really count anymore. They will also try to do something else they have the past 3 seasons, but I won't say that outloud just yet.

Well, my gf just discovered that, in fact, the Rams/Broncos game will air at 6pm here in sunny Pennsylvania.

She is now very excited. Chips are being laid in. Beer is being chilled. The sofa slipcover is being straightened.

Sigh.

I think this means we're not going to be watching the re-run of "Family."

[/quote:812ab634b1] Look at it this way. They cut the hell out of [i:812ab634b1] Family[/i:812ab634b1] in syndication. Watching a version that doesn't have Willow spitting "I know that" at the evil dad is just wrong.

Besides the Rams / Bronocos game is the game of the week. Also Fox's big national game, it is only not airing in parts of Georgia & Florida.

I hope everyone else's teams do better than mine did. :(

A humiliating 2 - 2 draw with the Faroe Islands. And we were lucky to get that. :cry

At least our next opponents are a slightly better team so it won't be quite as embarrassing when we get our ass kicked.

Oh and well done to any Welsh kitties. Outstanding result.

Well, here in the 'Sooner State' this time of year marks the temporay end of sanity as we know it. Pee Wee, High School, College, Pro. Doesn't matter which you prefer, people just seem to go[b:c0e83d58f8] nuts[/b:c0e83d58f8] and all reasoning flies out the window!!!!

ok.........got the beer...chips...dip...Subway party tray has been picked up......friends on their way....neighbors have been invited (had to, don't want to get kicked out of apt). Ok think that's everything. LET THE INSANITY BEGIN!!!!!!!

OH, I almost forgot....I own a lot of Bronco stuff.....helmet, helmet lamp, clock, t-shirts, sweat pants, boxers, socks...etc...its a really long list. I think I'm obsessed or something?

But, the scariest thing I own is an unopened box of Wheates with John Elway on the box. It came with a poster that still hangs on my bed room wall. :grin Anybody know how long Wheates last before they go bad?

[b:c0e83d58f8] GO BRONCOS[/b:c0e83d58f8]

At least I have football to keep my mind off Season 7!!!!!
