It's Fun With Food Wednesday MKF 9/3

Postby Tulipp » Tue Sep 03, 2002 6:06 pm

Its 12:01 a.m. eastern time. Good morning, Kittens.

I mentioned to a friend once, very off-hand, something I read involving a can of chocolate syrup and a couple of bodies. She called me a few days later to report that she and her husband had tried to incorporate chocolate into their alone time, but it hadn't worked.

Because it took him so long to chew up the brownie.

So my question for todays daily thread, obviously, is this:

Did you ever really wish you hadnt made a suggestion to somebody?
Or that they didnt tell you about it after?
Or, if youre feeling more literalwhat do you--or Willow and Tara--like to eat?

Or everyone... just talk about whatever you want. You will anyway. :wink

Have a good one, all.
Oh, and can I just say that these are NOT meant to be raunchy questions? That was just an example, that little anecdote.

I make way too many suggestions that people shouldn't even be listening to. I can imagine that Willow & Tara go for the sweets like whipped cream and chocolate. I'm sure Tara really digs her chocolate covered strawberry.. ;) . I haven't had too much fun with food, though I could tell you...or not tell you...some stories involving cherries and citron.

We used whipped cream and blackberries one time. I swear, we were still finding berries in gf's bed for days afterward.

So this has nothing to do with the topic, but is something I found funny. I was reading the latest [i:bd0d4ece04] Out[/i:bd0d4ece04] magazine today - there is a small mention of Willow as one of the [i:bd0d4ece04] few[/i:bd0d4ece04] returning gay characters on network TV and her having to face life without her girlfriend Tara, but after muttering about that to myself in the Vegas airport (and for those of you wondering I am $500 richer thank you very much) I read the article about the movie [i:bd0d4ece04] The Rules of Attraction[/i:bd0d4ece04] and you'll never guess who has a supporting part playing an "over the top" gay character.

I bet Ruth knows.

Our pal Joel.

Just thought I'd share because it cracked me up.

Oh autumn that is so funny! joel!! joel!!!

Hmm, so today was the first day of school and the first graders were adorable, their little baby faces .. so cute! And this is my 8th year of teaching (i am 30 years old ) and my 3rd year with 1st graders. I had only 1 crying kid and nobody whined about how long the day was so that was the best ever. Poor kids go from 3 hours of school to six. It really is a big change for them and they can't deal lol.

Hmm.. i know what I like to eat :p and besides that I like to eat avocados, navel oranges.. but i shall never eat boiled peanuts :miff ;)

W/T love to eat........ and besides that I think they enjoy different foods from different cultures!

Boiled peanuts are vastly overrated, IMO. :) They taste sort of like slimy beans.:eek

Toothless men in overalls sell them by the side of the road in GF's hometown.

Now look [b:8de2ee345c] y'all[/b:8de2ee345c]-- don't even get me started on the joys of boiled peanuts.

And the best ones come from the toothless old guys on the side of the road.

Why, just the other day I awoke to find a can of boiled green peanuts on my kitchen counter. Not as good as those on the side of the road, but they'll do...

[b:8de2ee345c] Boiled peanuts rock![/b:8de2ee345c]

Actually, I have a few things to say here.

First, my last bad suggestion came about an hour ago when my girlfriend was playing chess on-line. I love to do the whole bit where I randomly look over her shoulder and make suggestions. "Oh, you can checkmate her in two moves if you do this and this." I was soooo excited, and my love made the move and it turned out that I had just kinda missed the fact that one of her opponents pieces was where it was and...to make a long story short, I felt very sheepish afterwards.

Moving on, my favouritte food for alone time is probably honey. It drips and drizzles nicely, and it's just like...it works so well! So, honey has my vote...and fruit is kind of yummy too...and I got in trouble once for incorporating strawberry twizzlers into our alone time...but then I just brought up how happy the twizzlers were making my mouth...and I was instantly forgiven. The power of love can be scary. Have a great wednesday, kittens; oh, and good luck with the new class Xita. I hope all of you have a great year :)

Aw Xita, that's cute. Unfortunately here in the UK kids are not going back to school like they should because police checks on teachers and other staff who come into contact with "vulnerable people" haven't been finished in time. I think it's a backlash to the Holly and Jessica situation (and please, don't get me started on that or I'll start crying all over again, sigh). To me, it smacks of too late with too little. Kind of like the whole education system in the UK as a whole, really. God, this country is a bag of shite at times.

And then, speaking of kids, it isn't. My neice and nephew are still adorable. Still bugging the shite out of me and still can't get their heads around the whole notion of who Faith is and what she does in the show. Heh. However, my neice, upon seeing my wallpaper of DMW put on a particularly scary voice (think the kid in [b:df076ab549] The Shining[/b:df076ab549] saying "redrum, redrum" and you've got it, shudder) and angled my Faith action figure towards the screen, shouting out "Kill Dawn! Kill Dawn!".

Nice.

Anyhoo, the parents are once more off on their travels so I'm left all alone with [b:df076ab549] no cable[/b:df076ab549]. The guy came to collect our box today as my dad has decided he can't be doing with "all that crap" as he put it. So what else is a girl to do other than turn to her last bastion of entertainment, which consists of a fridge stocked with cold beer?

Life is good sometimes. ;)

So I'm planning on writing today. I'm in that kind of mood. Need to keep these fingers busy. Heh. And I might just watch [b:df076ab549] Bargaining[/b:df076ab549] again. There's something about Tara running in the opening sequence that gets me entirely hot. Combine that with a sunny day, beer, reading fic and uh, more beer...and I think that's me just about done. :)

As for the question of the day (seeing as I'm [b:df076ab549] really[/b:df076ab549] rambling here...) I'm not so sure about food. I do remember fun with pudding...all chocolatey and smooth. Ooh, and cold. Not in a sex way though; nah, I was um...shall we say [i:df076ab549] disadvantaged[/i:df076ab549] at the time and I was almost in tears over how beautiful the pudding was. Ahem. It haunts me to this day that I could hardly eat the stuff, I was weeping over it's essential beauty so much.

You had to be there. ;)

Oooh, and Autumn, you've just made my day. Joel Joel Joel. I love that man more than...well, more than a lot of things. Maybe not more than pudding, but you know, quite a bit.

And uh, of [b:df076ab549] course[/b:df076ab549] I knew he was in this film, because as you know, Joel and I are [i:df076ab549] incredibly[/i:df076ab549] close and we have a gay hotline to one another that's constantly buzzing with showbiz gossip. :rolleyes

I'm just waiting for his lawyer to contact me and tell me to stop writing [b:df076ab549] Final Exam[/b:df076ab549]...

Good luck with the first day of school, Xita. Good luck getting through that fridge, Ruth.

I am now having a different kind of fun with food. The not so fun kind. My day so far: overslept, no coffee, bus late, elevators in building where I work broken, atm machine out of cash, and I haven't had breakfast, and I forgot my lunch. And the staff meeting that was supposed to be tomorrow is today. Now, in fact.

Sigh.

So I'm going through my desk drawers hoping there's enough loose change for a cup of coffee.

ohhh Ruth - [b:7c81b78bc3] Macclesfield[/b:7c81b78bc3] ....my aunt lives there...i mean , urban areas don't get no more [i:7c81b78bc3] classy[/i:7c81b78bc3] than that. i mean.......it's ok....but it's no WALES ya know......

but enough of mocking those below me .....on with the food.

it seems i am unlucky in the fact that all my favourite food has no compatility with consuming off the soft , warm flesh of a willing maiden .i mean i love alot of food from my family background - but somehow [b:7c81b78bc3] ponki , krusti[/b:7c81b78bc3] and [b:7c81b78bc3] pyrogy[/b:7c81b78bc3] really don't apply themselves to the situation.

other than that , i looooooooove italian food . i mean , we're heavily involved , in an intimate kind of way;)

what the [b:7c81b78bc3] HELL [/b:7c81b78bc3] are goddamn boiled peanuts about ? i have never heard of them , and by joel , i'll certainly never let them linger on my pallet if the opportunity arises. ich! ewwwwww! boiled......WHY???

[/quote:aa28e79e64]Amen to that. That clip gets my vote for Sexiest Tara Moment Ever. Yes, sexier than naked-Tara-under-sheets in SR, even sexier than Tara-in-leather at the end of Entropy. I don't know what it is about Amber Benson running at full speed with stake in hand, but .... oh mama. :drool

And, umm, I don't really have much to say about food ...... except that reading this thread has made me hungry and now I have to go eat lunch. Soup at Schlotzsky's. Yum.

I love the beginning of Barganning but then I find the "Do you think he's taking pescription medication" part hysterical. Oh and lets not forget Willow on the top of the crypt yummy :grin

Thanks for this thread Tulipp it cheered me up a bit after reading the worldcon thread and watching the travesty that was Seeing Red last night (I actually had to turn the TV over several times). Can't someone just take the W/T parts out of that episode so I can enjoy those moments?

*Throws a dollar Tulipps way* hope you mange to get food and drink today :) . Oh and {hugs} Ruth, it sounded like you needed them.

Hey, thanks for the money, guys.

I came home last night to see my gf on the couch watching "Seeing Red," and I was like, "What are you DOING?" Too upsetting.

But anyway...I think that the Bargaining moment is very sexy, but for sexiest clothed Tara moment ever, I'm thinking of that scene in Dracula when she and Willow are smudging the house.

Her expression just says "You want innuendo? I'll give you innuendo."

Hey floopy Tulipp, hope your day starts to improve! After much experience of mornings like yours (okay, it's every morning, but who's counting?) I find it best to shrug, laugh if possible, and go to the pub at lunchtime.

Strangely, I always return in a better mood. Funny that.

Foodwise, tonight's tea consisted of a slice of wholemeal bread and a packet of Walkers Ready Salted crisps. No finer crisp in the world, I tell ya :)

Food is the best thing in the world. Haven't had so much experience with it in a sexual way, unless you count eating too many cherries and drinking to much red wine on a night that was supposed to be all romantic and then puking it up in the bathroom with my love of the moment holding back my hair. :spin

Right. I love to bake and make all kinds of food. My great aunt in italy taught me how to make homemade ravioli, those are great. My host mother taught me how to make some really great Korean food. Last night I made a really tasty pumpkin soup which went really well with the cornbread I had made the other night. Cheesecake is probably my most famous baked thing that I make. My parents used to have me bake cheesecakes when they were having friends over. I haven't baked one yet in my new apartment, I think I should do that really soon. Of course, I live alone, and my friend who lives in Boston is going away this weekend, so I may end up eating the entire thing myself. I don't know if that's good or bad! :laugh

Hey Everyone,
Nothing to do with food. Just an update on my cat "Nuisance"
I had off from work today but because she hasn't been doing well these past few days, I dropped her off at work this morning. (I am a Vet Technician) She had some more xrays done and IV fluids, more bloodwork and they did an Ultra Sound on her. (thank God I work there or major fundage on her bill). Her kidneys are pretty much shot. They are very small and only working at about 60 %. The doctors can't say how long she has but we know it isn't too much longer. They say she's not in any pain so thats a plus. They also told me to take her off of the prescription diet and give her what ever she will eat. Fortunately, she hasn't lost anymore weight since last week.
I brought her home and I'm going to spend as much time as I can with her. When my kids come over again, we are going to sit down and discuss what to do. She isn't very old. In fact she is only 10. It's going to kill my daughter as much as me because she was given to my daughter as a 2 birthday present from one of my friends.
I just wanted to give everyone an update and ask for a few prayers to be sent her way.

Love to All,
Barb

Barb, so sorry to hear about Nuisance. At least she's not in any pain, that's a blessing (albeit a small one). My thoughts and prayers are with you.

And Bob, I'm wishing you and Eugenie the best.

My parents' cat, Chelsey, has gotten to the point where she throws up every other day. It's so sad to watch, but I can't do anything about it because she's not my cat, she's theirs, and they don't want to put her to sleep. I'm just hoping that she doesn't suffer for long. The good news is that I convinced them to change her diet, because they were feeding her those little Whiskas packets and she couldn't digest it properly.

[b:2b0fe70074] TNT Chops 'Witchblade' Despite Strong Ratings[/b:2b0fe70074]
Wed Sep 4, 3:06 AM ET
By Melissa Grego

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - "Witchblade" has been cut.

The signature TNT drama series -- which went on temporary hiatus this year while series star Yancy Butler underwent alcohol rehab -- did not snag a renewal, the cable network confirmed Tuesday.

The show, in which Butler plays a New York City detective who solves crimes with the titular weapon, wrapped its second season last month.

"Witchblade" has been considered a success on many levels, including in the ratings, so the cancellation is likely to raise a few eyebrows in TV land.

The series consistently drew at least a 2.0 cable rating in TNT's universe during both its first and second seasons. The performance certainly is considered a healthy one, although some summer cable series, such as USA's "Monk," have been turning in even higher cable ratings.

What's more, "Witchblade" fits with TNT's branding "We know drama." It got the full promotional push from TNT, and the network often touted the fact that there's nothing like the series on broadcast television.

Steve Koonin, TNT's exec VP-general manager, said the decision was made in the hopes of going out with a bang.

"It's a very tough decision," Koonin told Daily Variety. "Our criteria for this show were really four-fold."

The four hopes for the show were that it be: advertiser- and cable operator-friendly, a show that differentiated the network from its competitors, a ratings builder, and a show that laid groundwork for the network to be in the summer series business.

"'Witchblade' did all of that great for two years," Koonin said. "We just felt to stretch it to a third year could hurt some of those areas."

However, insiders said the production stumbles related to Butler's health during the most recent season may have played a part. Warner Bros. Television, which produces the show with Top Cow Prods. and Halsted Pictures, declined to comment. Butler's manager also was mum.

TNT has had a tricky time launching scripted series in recent years, most notably "Breaking News," which the network wrote off before airing any episodes, and "Bull," which was canceled early in its run.

Still, Koonin said the network will continue to be in the series business. It likely will continue to use the same model it did with "Witchblade," which premiered first as a two-hour movie.

"We'll be evolving our identity as a leader in drama and looking for other shows," Koonin said.
