Well, the first statement is obvious. A lot of us kittens really do love our smut.

But for a question of the day, what do you think Willow and Tara's view really is on smut fic/ and or pornographic photos. Is it art to them? Is it pornography? Has Willow really been downloading porn this whole time on her IMac?

Anyways, also to get a discussion going, what are your own veiws as well kittens? Speak up, the floor is open.

I was an innocent little kitten who never read smut until Ruth corrupted me with Touchstone and those amazing language lessons. It's true. Smut used to be one of the reasons I didn't like a lot of fan fiction. There was too much of it and most of it empty of feeling (and involving completely weird couples but that's another complaint.) But I've found stuff on Pens that's quite different from that and very good. Now I hang out on The Edge of Silence thread and wait for updates as it's one of my favorite W/T stories ever.

Well...theres a difference between smut and porn. Smut, if written well, has more depth than run of the mill porn because it incorporates the feelings being experinced by each partner and the love and devotion they have for each other aswell as the sweaty naughty feelings. Which makes it much more artistic and enjoyable

It has a lot more meaning that a midget in a leather thong spanking a swedish virgin called Trixie.

I honestly don't think Willow and Tara watch porn videos. I think they have enough wild things going on in there own lives....they don't need to watch the video. I think maybe sometimes they get online and read the fanfic on the kittenboard. But, that's about it. And they think,......'WOW, people are actually writing about us???? How did we become so famous??'

Here's the thing. I respectfully disagree with the idea that Willow and Tara wouldn't watch porn/read smut because they already have a satisfying sex life.

I think smut, at least, is not a replacement for sex. It can be...it can be wish fulfillment and it can be a substitute and it can be an instruction manual.

But it's not true that somehow people who have sex in their life don't need smut or don't want to read smut. Smut is more than that... I'm having trouble articulating what, exactly, but I think it's more.

Ah...smut. The bane of my friggin' life. See, I think it serves a purpose. It's fun, it's Willow and Tara in a variety of delicious positions and places, and hey, it's not like we weren't all thinking that in the first place anyway. Heh.

I'm a big fan of smut. I've read some of the so called "established" erotica that we lesbians are purported to love so much and honestly, it left me feeling a little...well, [i:8a87f2e8ca] unsatisfied[/i:8a87f2e8ca].

And I worked it out; it's because Willow and Tara are just essentially yummy.

I had to LMAO at your post, Ky. Mostly because I could visualize it and that was just a truly hilarious thing to behold.

I think that smut can be by both turns pornographic and articulate. There are some writers that claim to be writing smut but their stories lack any emotion or feeling that would make their "smut" worthwhile so it just ends up being pornographic. However, Ruth and Julia have more than made up for it (and wiccie, one cannot possibly talk of smut and leave her out of the discussion ). They've made me a smut-believer with Triscuit, blameburner and others to take up the torch. I don't even think I could do smut justice if I were to attempt to write it.

I'd even hazard to posit that Willow and Tara might be fans of Final Exam or the Fun with Friction series. I can just see Willow's eyes popping out in total shock.

Personnally, I like anything that moves me, and the 'smut' involved in W/T fan fic is so much more moving and involving, and ,well, stimulating *ahem* because of the emotion usually behind it.

I wonder if you can possibly be a kitten and not like smut? It just happens. Maybe you don't like it at first; but eventually you start dipping into the fanfic, and you stumble on an erotic scene and? Well you have to read it to understand the story, don't you? So you read, completely uninvolved as Tara does this to her fiery girlfriend, and Willow does that to her luscious, little blonde. It doesn't affect you...not it the least; okay, maybe just a litttle. You shake your head at the smut...how could they defile Willow and Tara like this? Your thoughts are overwhelmed by vivid sexual imagery, and you can't focus enough to keep on questioning its validity. So you just read on with guilty eyes, going through more and more story; reading each unbearable smutty scene that you find...and then one day you're picking through the threads, and you decide it'd be nice to reread some fic, like...Final Exam, maybe? You love it for the story. So you skip around a little, end up at the library cage scene and before you know it you've read it three times and are panting with an open mouth and base needs and then, at that moment, baptised in Willow and Tara funtime, you become forever converted to the wonders of well-written smut. You'll probably even use the whole smut is art route to make yourself feel better. But the truth? Smut is sexy; smut is hot; sex is powerful, and when it involves two wet, twisting bodies that happen to be named Willow and Tara, it is never wrong. It just took you longer to figure that out

Personally, I don't really like much smut or pornography. Porn is usually so tasteless...and by that I mean lacking in any kind of artistic style. It has its purpose, I guess, because porn can be entertaining at the right moments. Personally I like my sex very complicated, and I like my smut that way too. I want story and love and some very striking visuals and a whole lot more than two people just...well you know; that gets boring, after a while. To make this all very short, I think smut is a very uncolored medium; whether it's good or bad depends on how much skill and imagination you have and just how you put your heart (or passion) into it.

And Willow and Tara would definitely like smut, in my mind. They're open and liberal, and while they're more than hot enough together, they would definitely find the right moments to make smut an important and nutritiously part of their lives. They'd at least find (or write) little erotic poems to each other, or read fiction (maybe pulled from the kitten) to one another? I just can't imagine they wouldn't.

I'm feeling long-winded, and I want to go read some more smut, so have a great day (and night) kittens.

Whenever I read fanfic I usually go to the R or PG-13 because there's still smooching and [i:31e250e946] implied[/i:31e250e946] sex but it isn't right there, shoved in your face. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good NC-17 story every now and then.

In fact I will admit that I am only 17 and have never had a girlfriend, so when I started reading FE, I would just sit there and say "Oh, so [i:31e250e946] [b:31e250e946] th[/b:31e250e946][/i:31e250e946][/b] how you do it!"

Now that I feel really embaressed...

I definitly think most all of us agree that Kitten writers always include true emotion in their fics (well most) so you can't feel bad reading them.

There's also a club I heard about on the BronzeBeta called the Bronzer Birds Club. It's basically for all those who love a good smut everynow and then. Their motto is "Think inside the sock." I am member #10. I also have the title of Keeper of the Slash. Although I did have to explain to a couple of people what slashfic is.

I think smut does have a place in people's lives. For me - its all about fantasy (and, in some cases, education). That doesn't mean its all good. There are some things I won't read or watch (e.g. sexual violence). That's why I love this Board. The smut is real and its consensual and its about love. That can't be bad.

I love smut. I especially like helping my honey Corky (AKA Triscuit7) "research" (ahem) her fics. I think "Final Exam" is what finally brought me out of lurkdom, and I still remember laughing out loud at "Vixens", which was one of the first NC-17 fics I read. But just smut is boring - I like story, characterization, and especially humor with my sex. Whoever said sex is the most fun you can have without laughing takes it waaaay too seriously!

I figure Willow, at least, is quite familiar with Internet smut. I can see her spending a lot of time researching on the Internet, especially when she first began to realize that she wanted to be more than friends with Tara but wasn't quite sure how to go about it. I think she was looking not so much for the mechanics as for ideas on how to move things along - which means she'd be looking for seduction tips.<g>

Tara, given what we know of her background and that she was still not terribly comfortable on the Internet in S5 (based on her conversation with Anya in "IWMLY"), is probably much less familiar with what's out there than Willow. I can see Willow showing her sites and Tara just turning red and stammering - much like Corky did when I first discovered smutty W/T fanfic and shared it with her. And now she writes her own smut and is a total feedback 'ho!
