It's "Jerry Springer" Monday!! :) MKF

Postby DawnsMan » Sun Aug 25, 2002 2:49 pm

I just figured since it's already early Monday morning in a few places, I could post this now. I was watching Jerry Springer friday (Yes bad me), and I started laughing at the idea of Willow and Tara going to the show and being in the audience. I love it when the audience members get up and say something to the "guests" up on stage.

Here's the question. Do you think Tara or Willow would have gotten up to say something in the end? I can picture Tara getting in a fight with one of the guests and Steve having to calm her down. hahaha sorry I just laugh so hard every time I picture Tara standing up "You want a piece of me?" Steve Steve Steve Steve!

I could definitly see Willow standing up if something mean was being said about Wiccans or homosexuals. Oh but how I would love to see Tara standing up and getting in a fight. Unfortunatialy, even though Tara has recently become much more confident, I think that she would still be to shy to say something with the knowledge that it is a national broadcast.

But on second thought I think that if Tara was on Oprah or Ananda and Willow was next to her to make her feel confident. I think that Tara would have no problem saying something. Espically if it was something encouraging like... "Don't worry what anybody says about you, you're perfect just how you are."

Um... Dawn's Guy, does your idea of Tara picking a fight with someone on national TV occur before or after she is secretly injected with crazy troll logic serum? 'Cause really, to me- that just doesn't sound Tara-ish in the slightest. I think Jerry Springer is a show that Tara wouldn't be able to even watch, much less appear on. I could see Willow taking guilty pleasure in watching bits of it here and there.

And then of course there was that fan fiction with Xander and Anya watching Springer, and Will and T on the couch, anyways sorry smutt filled mind. And I agree with Julia completely, it's very not Tara. Willow maybe, but not Tara.

On a random side note I used to go to school with his daughter, and he was up on campus a lot with his bodyguards. My friends told horror stories of trying to get back to their dorms, wrapped in towels from the shower and meeting Jerry ... *shudders*

If by "fight," you mean stand up for Willow the way she did in Older and Far Away, yes. We've seen that Tara is willing to axe demons to death to protect Willow, but physically fighting because someone "made fun" of her? Tara has more maturity than that. More class than that. Far more.

I can see Willow being a closet Springer fan. She would sit there on the couch and talk about how stupid everyone was, but still not be able to turn away.

I agree though, I can't see Tara getting into it at all. Eitehr watching or "picking a fight". Hell if they were going to come all the way to Chicago I think Tara could think of about 1,000 other things to do that see a taping of Jerry.

Like going to the Shedd or the Brookfield Zoo. And then after stopping over to say hi to me! ;)

This is OT, but I was late to BtVS (1st epi was The Body last summer) & to Aly. So I just watched AP2 recently & tonight was looking for reviews to see how it was received & what they said about Aly. Not many favorable reviews out there, but here's a quote I had to share. It's from Brian Pritchard at daddymonkeydotcom --OK, to let up for a minute and give the film credit where credit is due, there are some (albeit few) redeeming qualities I should mention. One of them is Alyson Hannigan as Michelle (you know, the "This one time, at band camp" girl) who gives Jim some pointers on how to not suck when he finally gets his shot with Nadia. Not only is she one of the few who comes across as having any fun, she's also cute, honest and real. I honestly felt the film drop when she wasn't in it. --
He gave AP2 a 3 out of 10 rating.

I actually read a fic where the cast of Buffy were on Jerry Springer.

Suffice to say, I read it just the once. I can't even remember where it was, or who wrote it, but I'm sure someone on the board will. :)

And in my opinion, no. No freakin' way would Willow and Tara ever deign to appear on the Springer show; nor would they attend in the audience. I think they'd be horrified.

I'll have to agree with mollyig . . . . can't see Tara or Willow just going to a J Springer show or being in one. .. . . .

But they could have been chasing a demon . . that lead them to the studio . . .. . they were trying to find the demon in the audience when the show started. . . .. can you imagine the looks on their faces :eek when the :

1. My daughter/mother is a teen-age ho
or
2. My wife is pregnant by her brother

crew started talking . . and when the first cat fight started

I think that I agree with all of you. It's funny to imagine them in the audience of Jerry Springer, but no way do I believe that they would ACTUALLY be there. It's like, an image in my head that is so ridiculous, and thus entertaining, but none the less, ridiculous.

The only one I could imagine on Jerry Springer is Anya. I just have an image of her walking up to some sobbing woman saying "Do you want me to make his penis explode because i can really do that."

My g/f has said Spike could do a "I was a Slayer's sex toy ep"

Willow maybe watching it andfeeling guilty but not actually appearing

There is actually a show at the Edinburgh Fringe called 'Jerry Springer: The Opera'. So I imagine that Willow, with her fear of singing, might well find herself appearing in that show in a nightmare...
Oh, and there's a brief mention of Aly in this new Alexis interview:
tv.zap2it.com/sciencefiction/otherworlds.html?27773
(The interview contains spoilers for Angel S4.)
Anyway, I hope UK kitties have been having a drier bank holiday Monday than me (pouring rain all round here in East Anglia.) And I hope all kitties have a great day. :)

Hey, I love Jerry Springer, yah I know criticize me all you want ;) But I used to watch it all the time, now if I remember I will watch. And I mean, no they probably wouldn't go, like I probably wouldn't be a member of the audience either, but I can see them watching one day and appreciating the irony of it all. I mean hey I love the Discovery channel too as chat people will no likely tell you :) . So I think you can do both.

I think it's funny to picture them there. Like, getting stuck there for some reason, a bet, or maybe for charity and Tara getting really worked up at some hard drinking, smoking pregnant woman and not being able to keep her opinion to herself. And Just saying something then of course the woman would come back with some insult, like "Well at least I don't make my clothes from my curtains." Then Tara would be shocked and look down at Willow, speechless because she doesn't know how to react to conflict. Then Willow would stand up to defend Tara and say something, but then Tara would stop her and take her hand and lead her out with, "I don't think the charity is worth putting up with this, I'd rather get a second job to raise the money." Ok, maybe not so funny but I could picture it. Just the thought of them in that audience wearing their This Year's Girl's outfits cracks me up. Maybe it's just me though ;)

Oh and it's my last day of vacation :cry I can't believe it. The summer is gone.. and I'll be around less, reading less fic, sigh. I hate it!

It shames me to admit it, but i use to love the show, it was highly entertaining watching a bunch of idiot americans trying to beat the utter shit out of one another. These days, i got slightly better taste.

I get the tara getting pissed off with the audience. Imagine th ep being "i was a magic addict but loved conquered all" and someone from the audience shouted out something along the lines of "once an addict always an adict!" i think we'd see pissed off tara.

In the meantime, take care of yourselves, and each other.

This entire thread reminds me of something I once read on Usenet (oh, the shame). Someone wrote a fake script in which Willow said "Word." (in response to someone else, e.g. "Joss is evil." "Word.") I laughed until I cried, just trying to picture Willow saying "Word", even though she obviously never would.

Yes, I am pathetic and easily amused. What's your point?

I've never liked Jerry Springer, although I sometimes think that if I had stayed married, my ex-wife and I would have ended up on his show sooner or later. :p

Here's the latest on my sick old kitty Eugenie. She's still responding to treatment at the vet, so I'm going to bring her home tonight. I'm going to start her on a daily subcutaneous hydration regimen and try to change her food, and we'll see whether or not that will keep her stable and comfortable for a while. My vet says she's seen cats survive for weeks or even months that way sometimes. In any event, I'll take Eugenie back in either Friday or next Tuesday to have her kidney enzymes rechecked, and then we'll have a better idea of how practical it is to keep treating her.

It's a bit scary. I've done this before, with a cat that had feline AIDS, and it's not easy. But I figure if I can give my old friend a few more rubs under her chin and a few more mornings in the sun out on my balcony (her two favorite things), it'll be worth it.

Have a great day, everybody! :bounce

Gee, Bob, that [i:b72e5257ef] is[/i:b72e5257ef] hard. A big kitten hug to both you and Eugenie. It is a difficult thing but also a very wonderful thing if you can give her a few more perfect days like you described.

You've reminded me of that great Ian McKellen quote from a few years back. He was doing endless interviews in the wake of his Oscar nod for God's and Monsters and remarked to one interviewer that he was indeed tired of answering the same questions over and over and over. So the interviewer tried to think of a completely new question and asked "If you could choose how you were going to die, what would you choose?" McKellan responded "I would choose to die in the arms of the person I love the most" (or something pretty close to that). In terms of final blessings & benedictions, you can't really top that.

Eugenie's blessed to have you Bob. Good luck to you both. :)

good luck with the kitty. I had a cat survive close to 9 months I think it was on hydration, and she lived to be 22 years old. My mom had named her Sybil for very obvious reasons.

Bob, best wishes to you and your kitty.

Your cat's situation brings back memories of the last two years of my cat's life: regular hydration and shots of epogen. I got the feeling that even while I was poking her with various needles, she didn't mind; she loved life, and I believe that she knew I was helping her to stay around a little longer. When it got to the point where I was having to hydrate her daily, she still lived for several more months, with a good quality of life.

I hope your kitty has many more happy, sunny mornings on the balcony.

I think though, sometimes when a cat reaches a certain point it's time to let go. It was very hard, having to stick pins and needles into ours, and another one had diabetes, but she died of cancer, which they couldn't do anything about because of the diabetes. I guess this brings to topic wether euthinasia is right or not.

I think if you know the cat well, you will know when she's no longer enjoying life. My cat tolerated all of the needles and poking very well. She'd sit very quietly and calmly while I gave her fluids. (It only took a few minutes.)

And when it was time to put her to sleep, I did. She really did let me know when it was time to let her go.
