It's "worst timing ever" Weekend, MKF!

Postby Guess » Fri Aug 09, 2002 6:36 pm

Hey. Since it's already one in the morning here in Brazil I thought I'd take a chance and post this. This is really bold of me since I'm such a lurker and so totally shy. And really, feel free to not pay attention to this thread if you want and even create another one if you feel the urge. Really, go on. I won't hold it against you, I promise. Also, I hope I named it right. And if you think this subject is too lame, please change it. I just thought I'd give this a chance...:shy
So, what i meant by worst timing ever was like that one moment when you just dont expect someone to walk in on you and they do, or when something happens that couldn't have happened at a worst time.
I thought of this subject as I was sitting in my computer, writing my "journal" and telling myself how totally confused I am (you know, am I gay or not?), when, out of the blue, at one in the morning, my mom decides this is the best time to ask me whether I was going to the movies with my friend tomorrow:rolleyes . I hope:pray she didn't have time to read the screen while I totally freaked out and tried to cover most of the screen with my head while trying to act like everything was normal and trying to open some program (solitaire or something) on the computer to cover my journal (If i just closed it i would lose it all because i hadn't saved it yet:( ). So...has that ever happened to you? Who would win your "worst timing ever" award?

Again, as i said, feel free to ignore this if you like and create a new thread with a less lame subject.

Guess...?

how about the moments when you are about to start makin' out with your girlfriend and your mom walks in the room?? *LOL* That's happened to me once or twice. Me and my best friend used to be kinda closer than friends. And there were a few times when I'd be moving in to kiss her and then my mother would come in to the room UGH....So f ***ing annoying!!!!!! :p

Oh but I would hold it against you. One weekend thread at a time. No other one this weekend. :no Don't make me glare at you. :p
Don't worry, the name is great, the subject is fun, and this is a daily -or in this case weekend thread- so you don't even have to think of a subject in the first place. See, if I want to brag about the gorgeous leather desk chair which I bought yesterday and in which my ass currently resides, I can do so here. :grin

As for moments like the ones you mean, don't think I have had them happen to me, though walking in on a parent in a very compromising position when you are at the tender age of 17 is something that will be branded on your retina for all eternity. :happy

Other than that I've just had the general embarrassing stuff happen, like tripping, dropping things again and again, walking into a lamppost etc.

The worst timing award is a tie between my partner's mother and my mother. My partner and I were getting very serious on the lounge room floor in the privacy of our own home when my partner's mother, instead of knocking first, just uses the key we gave her to barge in on us. The only thing that has enabled me to, 8 years later, look her in the eye :blush is that I was still fully dressed but my partner wasn't. Needless to say she always knocked very loudly after that.

My mother barged into my bedroom when I was still living at home while my partner and I were about to do the wild thing (lucky we were under the covers at the time) but instead of learning from the first incident she tried to barge in again but this time my partner had pushed a table in front of the door and all we heard was thud (my mother's face hitting the door :thud ). If my partner was trying to get on my mum's good side this was definately not the way. That little incident set them back about a year.

I get the whole trying to cover the screen thing, i'm awful for that. Whenever someone comes into the room, i ALWAYS minimize the screen, even when i'm on the kitty board, it's not shame, it's just a bad habbit born out of zero confidence in my writing (which some of the kittys are helping to cure me of...)

Thankfully my parents knock before coming into my room. my mum is a knock and come in person, where as my dad knocks and waits to be invited in. I think i prefere my dads method.

May i also take this oppertunity to bitch about the fact that i have to work tomorrow (sunday). NOT FAIR!!! Damn my bosses, damn them to hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the worst timing that has ever happend to me was when all of my mates and me were going out to the pub we were just on our way to pick up this girl, when they all decided that it was finally time to tell me that she was in love with me.
well they dropped this bombshell on me just as she was walking down the drive towards the car, she got in and all i could say was "i like your shoes" !!!!!!
i could have killed them, talk about bad timing!!!

Don't be shy, this is a great thread, :D It allows for moocho humor and in many cases a **chance** to relate. I've never done a daily thread or weekend, because everyone beats me too it. A round or applause for you :clap . This is one place where there's no reason to be shy, everyones friendly and we can't see you.

And I totally understand the whole computer thing and the questioning :confused

um, worst timing EVER:
2 girls, each "something" to say to one another.
girl a: this isnt going to work anymore.
girl b: i have cancer, and it's flaring up again.

but girl a, instead of saying the saying that was to be said instead gets yelled at by girl b, huge fight ensues, and nobody is speaking to anybody anymore.

I have a HUGE problem because I like to pre-write things. So if I am planning on posting something I may write it out before hand. The problem is that I also leave the pieces of paper all over the house. I live with my mom, stepfather, and my older brother and sister when they are home from college.

One perticular day, a friend of mine from school (who knows that I am bi) gave me a journal of hers to write in. She had been passing this journal around school in which people made sexual confessions, wrote about fantasies, and sexual experiences. As I was reading it I saw that many people were coming out of the closet. So I thought that I should be honest too. I wrote about my turn-ons, how I can't wait to go to college where I can join a GLBT club and get a girlfriend or boyfriend. Since I have sloppy handwriting I wrote it out first. Then copied it into the journal.

Now this is where it gets hard to follow.

I later came down to post on the kitten board. I was posting something in response to a tv show. So before I came down I jotted down a few sentences onto a piece of paper.

So I'm sitting in the basement at the computer, typing my post talking about how I am bi and want to become a pastor. My sister walks up behind me and I see her glance at the paper sitting next to me. I quickly grabed it, crumpled it up and minimized the screen. (I am usually at several webpages at one time, so I just switched screens). I don't think it would have been possible for me to be more obvsious.

Then later my brother came in and asked if he could go into my rooom to borrow a book. I told him of course. About five minutes later I realized that I had left my pre-written confession that I had copied into the diary, sitting in the center of my bed.

So now I have been trying to get out of the habit of pre-writing.

Did any of that make sense?

I'm having a hard time talking about worst timing today because for me today has the best timing. Yes, I know you are all excited about the Broncos opening pre-season game tonight! in honor of that experience I will share with you pictures of my cat Willow and her getting ready next to our "snack helmet" for this evenings festivities.

I will have to stick to the ole' internet feed to hear my Rams take on the pitiful Titans of Elvisland. They are still smarting from losing to the Rams in the Superbowl and always like to pretend like these meaningless pre season games make up for the fact that they lost.

Oh well, I shall not get to see Jeff Fisher storming up and down the sidelines like a freaking maniac, but hurray football is here.

And yes Autumn, your kitty is very cute.

Hey. I thought Id stop by to see how the weekend thread was going (my first thread), andwow! Everyone is so sweet:blush thank you for all the posts and for not hating the subject.
Hush30: your story makes mine look like a harmless little kitty. It really wins "worst timing ever" award!
Yelowsub: I understand the pre-writing thing, I do that sometimes. But I try to be careful and I tear the paper into a million microscopic pieces right after I write it somewhere else:grin .
AutumnT: your kitty is really really cute.
I might be back later, or tomorrow (its 5:30 in the afternoon here in Brazil)
Thank you all again for all the support and posts:wink .

Well, as for bad timing. I did once have my roomate walk in on a rather heated game of drunken spin the bottle when she was supposed to be out for the night. It wasn't too awful but quite embarassing since she was very conservative and already thought I was quite scary!

My Indianapolis Colts are playing their first preseason game tonight, too, but that's not the sport I want to talk about at the moment.

Sarah Fisher made auto racing history today by becoming the first woman to win the pole position for a race in a major American oval-track racing series. For those of you who don't follow racing, that means she had the fastest lap time in qualifications and will start first in tomorrow's race, the Belterra Casino Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

As you may know, there have been a number of women who have succeeded in drag racing, but this is a first for a racing series where you have to turn the wheel. The only other woman who has even come close to doing as well was Shawna Robinson, who won the pole for a NASCAR Busch Series race (essentially the "triple-A farm league" of the Winston Cup series) at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1994

Sarah had the fastest time in the practice sessions earlier today, but when qualifications started the track surface was hotter and more slippery. Sarah's crew therefore decided to wave off her first qualifying attempt and send her to the back of the line. It meant she'd get to qualify later, when the track was cooler, but she'd only get to run one timed lap instead of two. As it turned out, that one lap was just enough. She had a speed of 221.390mph, which was just [b:8ab2e23286] .0028[/b:8ab2e23286]sec faster than second place, Billy Boat. The speed was a new track record, too.

The race starts tomorrow at 1:30pm EDT on your local ABC station. Sarah is originally from Ohio, not too far across the river from Kentucky Speedway, so this is essentially her "home track." She finished third in the race there two years ago, in a car that wasn't nearly as good as the one she has now. Maybe tomorrow will be the day she scores the first victory for a woman driver, too!

(Pips sticks her tongue out at Rally :p and runs away)

Worst timing? Hmmm. I think that would be a particular incident from high school, when my boyfriend decided to tell me that he was boinking another girl. It just happened to be the day before the senior prom, which we were supposed to attend together. Oh, and he didn't even tell me himself - he told my best friend, and let her spill the news. (Although in retrospect, I'm very glad I found out right [i:55c24c1b08] before[/i:55c24c1b08] the prom, instead of right [i:55c24c1b08] after[/i:55c24c1b08].)

And for those that care, the Broncos won 27-3 mostly due to our fabulous looking defense that held the Bears to 44 total yards. Yes, you read that right. 44 pitiful little yards.

purrrty kitty, autumn! looks so sweet and petable. and she looks very willowish.

Worse timing ever in the buffyverse has got to be Buffy, of course. My personal worse timing ever awards go to my gf's family and friends. Everytime we're in the middle of..um...stuff... the friend who never calls in fact calls, and some freak incident happens where her family knocks on her door (mind you, any other time they act like we don't exist, and therefore, no door knocking). I'm just not meant to get laid.

You said "rarely"...so does that mean you have in fact been featured on national tv before? Cuz, y'know....it *could* happen...and with John Madden now in the booth on Monday nights and knowing his penchant for telestrating stuff --including fans in the upper levels --I can just hear him now: [i:6a3c806245]"Now there's a *real* fan for ya Al!"[/i:6a3c806245] Just be keeping in mind come next Monday night that you could end up with a big ol' squiggly drawn around your yelling and waving self...Make yourself conspicuous...And I'll be watching...

Defense looking fabulous huh? Fabulous?! Really?! Wow...I think I'm going to go shed some tears of happiness....and scan the sports channels for highlights...Thanks Autumn!
