This board has 1300 members. This site gets thousands of hits a day. There are tonnes of Willow & Tara fans out there, and loads of gay/lesbian/bisexual/questioning people out there who need support.
I have to accept that TV isn't always going to represent gay people in the way I'd like it to - this is not to say I am not disgusted with what has happened on "Buffy" - but it's just like life isn't always going to go the way I want. But I am not going to give my support to that TV show any more. I do not believe Joss's: this hurts me more than it hurts you, or Amber,- type reasoning. Sorry Joss, you just do not understand the way we feel.
The internet can be a bad thing but it is also a place a lot of people can find support. The fact anyone with access to a computer can set up their own webpage can be a really good thing: it's a way to express your views, feeling, likes, dislikes etc. to the whole world, without needing to be a powerful TV executive, a bestselling writer or a politician.
I am giving up "Buffy" in favour of this website and the other W/T sites. They are a testament to a beautiful relationship and the people who loved it. I would say to anybody out there: if you have been thinking of setting up a W/T site - do it. If you want to write fanfic - write it, post a link on this thread, people will read it and love it. If you love W/T and want to talk about them, come here and feel the love!
Maybe Joss Whedon started "Buffy" because he had a story to tell. I think we have a more important one, and we can make a internet network of Willow & Tara that'll be a testament to a happy gay relationship and still be online long after this mish-mash sci-fi show gets cancelled.
Love to all the Kitties,
The Magic Pixie.
