Normally it increases by 50 cents until it gets to the maximum amount you want to bid, then it will give you a chance to bid again although it is a good idea to watch the item and track it for the last part.

Actually increase amounts depend on the amount the item started at, increase bids can be as high as $5. Average for a normal item would be about $1.00. So if you bid a maximum of $20 for an item that currently was at $5. If someone bid, your bid would be increased a dollar more than their bid until you passed your maximum of $20. I.E. someone would have to bid $21 to become the high bidder.

Well I got my bid in and there is a curious satisfaction in knowing that even if I lose there is just going to be more money going to such a good cause.

Since my auction items are in pounds sterling, I thought I'd better tell folks that you can find an online currency converter at:

If you can't get it to work you might want to draw the money from your bank in the form of an international cashiers check in US funds and mail it to the address that Xita has given.

Does anyone know if the exchange rate (Aus dollars) is worse with an international check, or pay pal? Please reply if you do, it'll be much appreciated! ta :D

I rarely post on here... but I regurlarly come and read the posts... I'm a huge fan of willow and tara and they've been such a big thing for me over the last few years as a questioning youth.. helping me realise that it's ok, no matter what my sexuality is... anyway basically I think that this is a totally worthy cause and I'm amazed by how much everyone has raised and I'd love to contribute to that amount... I don't have that much (or get paid that much), but I'd just like to pledge 10 from my next paycheque... I'll email you when I post it xita... sorry I can't do more,

TV Gal Pledges 'Sorority Life'

Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are Eastern Time for Aug. 26 to Sept. 1

Not a day goes by that I don't receive at least three e-mails from "Buffy" fans who remain angry and upset about Tara's death. It's been a fascinating lesson in fan devotion. When a show like "The Practice," or "The West Wing" does something we don't like (like bring Mark Harmon on only to kill him), we're annoyed and disappointed, but not personally hurt. But a show like "Buffy" touches people in ways most television shows don't, it cuts close to the bone. And so many are still hurting. Some fans are doing something very positive with their anger. Their donating money to the Trevor Foundation, a group that helps gay and lesbian youth. Here's the link where you can find out more information: http://kittenboard.com/trevor.html. In this week's repeat (Tuesday, UPN, 8 p.m.),

Wow. I've been away from the Kittens for a bit, and to see what's been accomplished in that time is truly moving.

There's another implication I've not seen anyone else mention. How many of us would have been aware of the Trevor Project at all were it not for the Board? The older most folks get, the more they develop a list of charities to remember yearly. This could be more than just a one-time major windfall for Project. I'm sure some significant percentage of people who otherwise would have never known of them will be giving again as the years go by. And that those of us who could only afford a small donation right now will keep them in mind for when we have more to spare.

Then there's all the people out there who will see the icons dotting the web, or read about it somewhere in the fandom universe, and will donate or keep the Project in mind. Perhaps others may be inspired to go to their own boards to sponser other charities. Something this good creates ripples on ripples until there's a tide. How rare to see a negative truly transformed into a positive.

Proud beyond saying, here. I stumbled onto this board, thought about things as I hadn't before, in a very small way became part of this giving moment and now feel enriched. And like a real live Kitten. I never would have suspected this would happen.

Just one last thing: is Amber aware yet? How wonderful for her, to know her gifts have helped create such a powerful goodness.

Oh, severe teariness. Powerfully good severe teariness, thinking of all those kids who need help and who will receive it because of us!

Kittens,

We are coming to the final days of this drive. Our auctions end this weekend. We will go on after that for only one more week.

I am waiting to hear back from Jorge Valencia about their timetable for their press conference. We will of course need to have all the checks in by then and all the Pay Pal money converted to real money.

If you are planning to send money, now is the time. Especially if you are sending checks from overseas.

This has been a glorious success. No one is more proud of you all than me.

This has been a wonderful experience for me.

I have seen this community come together and show me that they are some of the most generous, kind and thoughtful individuals that I have ever known. I am proud of you all and I am proud to be considered a Kitten.

I hope that our funds can give the Trevor Project and the teens that they help as much as you all have given to me.

Please remember that when some of the things your read here get you down or depressed, come back here and read what you have done. Remember that you are not effecting some pretend life on a TV show. You are effecting a real life from a teen that is going through something that you can understand and you helped that person. You might have even saved a life.

Yes, now is the time to get those donations in. I know some of you might have been putting it off, I am always doing things at the last minute. Heh, time for that is now, [i:1947754471] this[/i:1947754471] is the last minute. We have raised a wonderful amount of money. I think we can make it an even more wonderful amount still. Get those donations in.

I want to recommend asking family members to donate, too. I asked my mom if she wanted to put in some money with me, and surprise! She did. That's a few more dollars that are going to an excellent cause. It can't hurt to ask. And if they just want to write a check and not have to deal with mailing it, volunteer to mail it for them. Make it as easy as possible. Let's get the total jacked up a bit more.

My gf and I are just going to send in our pledges in advance. Considering GF's history with Fred, we want to make extra sure that his presence at All Saints results in as much money as possible for a cause he'd hate.:evil

Then, if Fred is there longer than we thought he'd be, we're hoping that we'll still be able to send a check for the balance on September 9th.

I took another trip to the post office box and have a new tally for y'all.

$5227.03 so far!

Checks= $3605.00

PayPal= $494.45

PayPalCredit= $1,125.72

Congratulations kitties let's keep it up!! If you haven't donated yet please consider it, every bit counts! I know we can raise more!

The auction is almost here, don't forget that we will still be fundraising during that time.

If I have received your check, I will be sending an email your way this weekend. If you never emailed then I probably won't write you back, I'll have to look you up to thank you :)

The pay pal credit account may include a couple of auction items but the auction is not part of this total. Tim can give further details on that. And Rally as well.

Wow this is amazing and just goes to show that the Kitten is such a wonderful [b:36e21a1151]community[/b:36e21a1151] - because a community, rather than a bunch of individuals, cares about something other than its own interests. The Kittens have shown that time and again - but this time it has concrete material benefits for a very worthy cause.

I meant to respond to something that was mentioned here earlier (I believe it was by Tim) in that if even one person is saved as a result of this money then that will be a tremendous thing. I could not agree more and it something that every kitten can be proud to have been a part of.

Thankyou to those who donated items and cash, those who arranged their sale, all those who bid for those items as well as those who administered the whole thing. It is all very special and I can see the total is going to grow for a little while yet.

Kittens are the best *wink*

By the way the colour logo is way snazzy*S*

I am still calculating my auctions.

I have a couple of no-pays that I am dealing with but I should be sending in about $500.00 from my auctions.

We still the Phred Phelp give-a-thon at Bob's church this weekend and the raffle (included in the Credit Card total).

We should hit $6000.00!

Great job Kittens!!!

This is super! Ive always been proud to be a kitten, but seeing us turn our anger and hurt into something good is really an amazing achievement that makes me even prouder of who we are. Thanks to all the kittens who have done a little or a lot to make this happen. Youre changing lives with your efforts. :)

Yes we are going to accept money for the Phelps thing.

If anyone is sending check, please send it no later than Monday. We need time to get everything in, counted and then cooridinated with the Trevor people.

We want to be able to give them a semi-solid number by then.

Next week is it Kittens. We will not accept anymore donations after that.

You all have been so great!

Again, I am proud to be part of this group and to call myself a Kitten!!!

WebWarlock, could you do me a huge favour and send me an email? Due to various stuff which is frankly too boring to go into here, it looks like I can't upload money to PayPal. If I can't get an international money order, I might have to send it via NoChex - www.nochex.com/ - instead. Sorry to be awkward.

I just wanted to repeat the mantra of how awesome I think this all is, and also give a thank you for allowing us to send in money for an extra few days. I've been holding out for some student loan funds, since I've been pretty broke, and yay, they've come in, putting me just under the wire for being able to send the amount of money I wanted to contribute. Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this VERY worthy cause.
