So this idea was kicked around to me and I think this is something the whole kittenboard can get behind.
Lets find a Gay/Lesbian charity, preferably one that deals with abused
youth, and lets donate some money to them in Willow and Taras (not Aly and
Ambers, they have their own favorite charities) names.
Heres what I propose we do.
- We find a charity.
- I would prefer checks being written out directly to the charity. I can certainly collect that.
- We get some sort of online payment account for those that want to use it.
Those that dont can write checks. Lets avoid cash, to messy. This is a possibility only if we find someone trusted to handle it. I am not so sure I am for a variety of reasons.
- Anyway, so we need one or two someones in charge of handling the money.
This has to be someone we all trust.
- We set some dollar goal to reach. This should be based on what charity we
pick and what they might need. Maybe they need new computers, or clothes or
even a descent set of cooking supplies (if it is a group home kinda setting)
or even money just to help these kids get home or to a safe place. Just to
pull a number out of the air, $1500.00. That is about a buck each for every
registered member. Some will want to give more.
- We then present the charity with a nice big check!
Good for them, good for us, good for what Willow and Tara meant to us and to
the youth we want to help.
We will keep everyone updated on our progress. That way those who
contributed can see how the contributions are growing. I anyone wants to
tell the group what they sent in is their business, but this is not a
contest and who sent in what will be kept anonymous.
