Am I the only one who actually gets physically depressed over all this, I mean the symptoms and everything?
Anyone else?

Nope Drlloyd. I feel the same way you do. I am pretty close to stopping all contact with all things Buffy because I just feel so sick over this. I am not prone to depression, but I feel it over this. I wish I didn't feel this way, and sometimes I am angry that I allowed myself to get so attached.

I felt slightly better with the Drew comments, but then other news comes and I feel worse than before. I am just so thankful that I am spoiled because I can't even imagine how I would have felt after seeing the death scene & aftermath without knowing about it.

I tried to watch Willow and Tara great moments from Season 4, 5 and 6. I just get so sad I can't watch. I keep thinking about how Willow is gonna feel finding Tara's dead body. Ugg. I can't even.

My family is really supportive and they understand thank God.
I hope you feel better. We all have to stick together on this.

I suffer from episodes of severe depression and I used to watch Buffy whenever I started to get depressed because it would help me. It gave me a sense of hope that even though life was rough, you could deal with it.

But now I have to struggle to find any hope at all in this show. What used to help me deal with my depression is now adding to it.

I think a lot of people are not getting the usual lift they find in our two girls. This means of course, that the last bastion of happiness we turn to in real life times of shite is fading fast. Yeah, I can understand what you say, totally. And you know what? I think there will be the necessary support available here on the board and in chat when the time comes for us to get [b:60772c25e6] really[/b:60772c25e6] depressed.

This is going to be rambly and possibly not all that coherent, and probably lame, so I apologize in advance, but it's something that's been taking up a lot of space in my world lately. I could really use a good emotional outburst, dunno about you guys, so here goes.

I'm right there with you guys. I am prone to depression, and thus have not been terribly surprised by how profoundly upset I've been the past few weeks about everything going on in the show. Months ago, after reading the wildfeed for Tabula Rasa, I went into a deep depression for three days afterwards, the worst of which lifted after seeing the episode and having the mother of all good cries. I'm a little anxious about how down I'm likely to get come early May. Still I'm trying to stay positive, consoling myself with my understanding that upcoming storylines make little sense in terms of what the Buffyverse is all about, in terms of the ideals expressed time and time again by the people who make the show, and knowing that it's entirely possible, perhaps even likely, that Tara's death will be taken back somehow. Like everyone else, I'll just have to wait and see. On some level, as evil a bastard as I think he is, I still trust Joss to somehow make me enjoy having my heart ripped out. To make the storyline SO good, that I know it had to be done. I can only hope this trust proves well-founded.

Still, as more information trickles in, and the day itself slowly approaches, I find myself getting more and more disturbed by the knowledge that Tara is going to die. Ruth mentioned the other day somewhere that for her this is just starting to really sink in. I thought it had sunk in before now for me, but it's starting to do so even more all of the sudden. I actually had a dream several nights ago in which I saw a version of the scene in which Willow finds Tara's body, complete with really hauntingly painful imagery. I'm hurting to the point where the other day someone who doesn't watch the show, and was joking around about something totally unrelated, started to sing "ding, dong, the witch is dead" and I almost cried on the spot.

Part of me, too, feels bad or silly for having become so emotionally involved in the lives of fictional characters, but at the same time, I'm a writer. That's pretty much what I do on a daily basis anyways. Should it really matter whether it's my characters or someone else's that I'm so wrapped up in? I can't say that I think so. And honestly, if something touches you, and gives you happiness and enjoyment, why not invest yourself emotionally? What good would this world, or art forms in general be if no one invested themselves into the things created by others around them? I love this show. I love Willow and Tara.

It comes down to this. I'm grieving for the death of an idea. An idea of a person very dear to me. And I'm starting to get really sick of trying to justify that to myself and others. A few months ago, it was for the idea of a relationship. Now for the idea of a person- two people really, because one's death is going to shatter the other, and I completely understand why. I grieve also for the community of people I've found who love these characters and this show as much as I do, hands down the most amazingly wonderful online community I have ever felt myself to be a part of.

Who's to say how much grieving is enough or too much? All I can do is try work through what I'm feeling, which for me means, among other things, writing goofy parodies as therapy. All I know is that I have a right to what I feel, and that it's my responsibility to deal with it the best way I know how to, which also means pulling together with my friends here, enjoying the comraderie that drew me to this community in the first place.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is... *sniffle* I love you guys, man.

I agree, we are going to need a support thread.

Not only are we going to have the unspoiled kitties and the outsiders coming here for a good word, we will have us, the spoiled, who will finally will see it and have all these weeks of pent up emotion hit us.

I have seriously considered not coming by the Spoiler thread anymore. But I do on the off chance that there will be a glimmer of hope.

I came to you guys way back in October out of depression. Nothing W/T related. But you all have helped me. But there is a cold lingering feeling that this, my support net (or is that 'net support!) will soon be gone.

When I first heard about it I did feel as if someone I knew had died. I have been a little to up close and personal with death this past year. This is not what I wanted.

I wish I could help. Hell I am qualified to help, but I come here looking for help myself.

I think it's important that most of the loud and logical voices on the Kitten are all fully spoiled. This is important because the flood of reactions that spilled into the Kitten at the first confirmation of Tara's death is going to be nothing compared to when the episode actually airs.

When it hits all the unspoiled, they will be flooding here in droves,
in shock and pain and they are going to need a lot of consolation.

So I think it's important for us to get as much of our greiving out now and be prepared to help the others that have yet to have this effect their lives.

It's neither silly or sad that everyone is feeling personally effected by this. It is ok to emotionally invest yourself in characters. It is ok to grieve and feel betrayed and hurt and angry and depressed.

But being fully spoiled has it's dues. One of those is to both protect and support the non spoiled. A few of you have mentioned walking away from the spoiler forum, but really I would say it is too late at this point. It's time to see this through and be prepared to be a supportive community when the time comes. There is going to be a lot of panic and the more of us that can show a unified and supportive face in the midst of what can only be the single biggest fear of this board, is incredibly important.

I have tried to keep an upbeat, positive front in the spoiler forum. Trusting that Joss will make all things better. But I am angry, it's not fun to think about how awful it is imagining what is to come. I get angry watching the show, knowing what is to come. But I will be there watching and I will be here to try and keep things in perspective when the shite hits the fan.

So for you regulars, I guess I am just saying I hope you will all be able to do the same. Because it is going to be very important than calmer heads prevail come a month from now.

Rally, good post.

You know what the worst thing for those little unspoileds is gonna be that they are going to see the passionate kissing in [i:98bca3be49] Entropy[/i:98bca3be49] and think [b:98bca3be49] that's[/b:98bca3be49] what all the brouhaha over at the spoiler threads has been about - people are just excited about the kissing. Beautiful posts, all. I am in complete agreement with all of you.

You know, I'm glad that I know about these spoilers because it'll theoretically give me time to prepare, but I've known about these so long now, and I'm still in shock. I agree that the spoiled should try to be strong for the unspoiled, but then I keep thinking about something Tara said in "The Body" in response to Buffy's question: Buffy: Was it sudden? Tara: What? Buffy: Your mother. Tara: No (thinks a moment) and yes. It's always sudden.

I just know this is precisely how I'll feel when it happens on screen. So, I can't say in all honesty that I will be able to be strong. I'll try but I might not be very successful.

friends.. this is how I'm going to handle the situation of getting upset about the possibilities/spoilers, whatever..

I have to tape BtVS.. I have a class on Tuesday nights that ends april 30 & another class that will be starting the next week.. (discrete math & abstract algebra)..

This actually helps me.. if something happens during the show, I can stop the tape. If the phone rings, I can stop the tape. If I see something that I don't want to see, I can fast forward.... etc..

This way, [u:4268ed5750] I control it [/u:4268ed5750]!!

So, dispite the ominous rumblings, I will survive... I've also discovered a very nice group in the spoiler free thread... I wandered over 'cause the were eating skittles... well, whatever.. but I am going there for awhile to calm down & make lots of tea for my new kittie friends... join us, if you want to.. for as long as you want, but [u:4268ed5750] don't [/u:4268ed5750] bring any spoilers with you!!

ps there's lots of chocolate & coffee, too....

Good post Rally.

I feel for the unspoiled, but they have got to know something is up.
You can't burn through as many threads as we did on kissing and make-up sex alone. Though, I wish it were the case.

I know that I have not participated in any of the kissing and make-up sex spoilers myself cause it is just too hard. I also noticed that I have not watched any of my Buffy tapes since finding out. I have a great W/T tape I put together, I used to love to pop it in and watch a few scenes. Now, it sits with all my other tapes. Unwatched.

It does not matter how the season finally ends. Going through this one episode at a time is going to suck and it's going to be hard.

Is that what ME wanted? For us to look forward to the episodes in *dread*? I know that is why they don't want us to read spoilers. Reading here is one thing. Seeing it on my screen is something else.

I am worried about my wife mostly. She is unspoiled and this will be enough to make her stop watching forever.

I know what you mean about being depressed about the upcoming spoilers (Tara dead, evil vengeful Willow), I so feel it too. I remember the day logging on the board, and first hearing about the spoilers I felt like I was punched in the gut, and almost couldn't breathe for a few moments. This feeling for me was completly new because I never got so emotionally attached to two ficitonal tv characters before. Then of course I went into denial, and even though, I know these scenes will occur I think I am living in a happy place thinking about the reunion until I actually see the horrible death on the screen.

Then of course, its back to depression with a little amount of hope that at the end my suffering will be ok because Tara will somehow will be alive at the end of season 6. However, I really don't know how I will react (I am almost dreading it) if Tara isn't shown alive with an unenvil Willow at the end of episode 22).

I just wanted to say I feel for all the others out there who can't bear these dreadful spoilers out there, and to say you are so not alone in feeling this way.

I'm glad this thread is here. For some reason I thought I'd be able to get used to the idea of what's going to happen, but it's been a good long while now, and I haven't. I'll be doing something else and if it doesn't have my complete attention, my mind will flash to this and I'll get all teary-eyed. That's when I get the urge to come back online and visit here.

I really thought I'd be done crying at the thought of this by now.

I haven't been able to watch any of my tapes either. First it started with the breakup, and I wasn't sure if they were going to get back together, so I didn't want to watch happier times and set myself up for a bigger letdown. And with the really bad news, it's even worse. This is, very literally, depressing.

Web Warlock, I have an inkling of what you are feeling. I remember with fondness being able to watch and re-watch the ep Family last year. Helped me during a tough time. I don't watch my Will/Tara tapes any more. Maybe after things finally settle down, for good or ill.

My wife has been somewhat amused by my BtVS hobby, but she understands.

I, too, wonder what ME had in mind. I'm glad I'm spoiled, though. I can only imagine how the unspoiled are going to handle things...

I think it's perfectly natural to feel emotional about the characters and what happens to them. Not only because it's the mark of good drama, but because Joss himself fosters those kinds of attitudes and I believe actually holds them himself to a certain degree.

That's one of the reasons why I seem to have such faith that no matter how bad things get, something will set it all right.

I have a feeling that the people this will be the hardest on are the ones who started watching this show only because of Willow and Tara. I watched before, and I appreciated the show for what it was. I didn't really get emotionally involved in everything until Tara showed up, though. So even though this story is going to be painful to me, I feel like in perspective it's not all that unusual a path for Joss to be taking with his storytelling.

Joss loves his characters but he loves tragedy also, so he tortures them and makes them suffer terribly, but always takes it back to a safe place in the end.

But I think those who don't really have an appreciation of the twisted, torturous aspect of these stories will be the ones turned off the most in the aftermath of the this story arc. Joss is who he is, an unfortunately I feel like the characters he likes the most are the ones he puts through the worst pain. That's naturally not going to be to everyone's tastes.

Whether I like it or not, whether I continue watching the show or not, I can't say I didn't know what kind of show I was letting myself getting emotionally caught up in.

The whole situation is dreadful...

Ari, you made me think about debates about Spike and Buffy as to what a "bad relationship" is... Out of all the characters on BtVS, Spike is the one most ressembling ME. Evil, unpredictable, impulsive... :evil

But I don't agree with the statement of "I can't say I didn't know what kind of show I was letting myself getting emotionally caught up in." Something at ME changed, may it be Marti, Joss or the whole crew. The show I fell in love with isn't what the show is right now. I got emotionally involved with a fast, witty and damn funny show that helped me through rought patches. Problem is, I'm still involved, and now the show is not only utterly depressing, but it no longer lives to past quality standards...

Like Buffy with Angel. She fell in love with him and he changed. And she had to learn to let go...

I'm giving them a month. In a month we'll have seen Entropy and Seeing Red. And I'll know if dignity and entertainment were attained through incredible angst and pain. And then, we'll see.

And, although not a full-fledge Kitty yet, I'll try and be there when the unspoiled become... soiled with the shite.

Again, this thread is a good idea...

Thank you, everyone. Reading your posts has made me feel slightly better about this whole thing - knowing that I'm not the only one feeling this way.
And I feel so bad for unspoiled people. This is why I became a spoiler ho - so that I could get advance warning of anything bad.
Like I said before, this whole situation is just depressing me. The W/T relationship is incredible It has moved me like nothing else I have seen on TV. Ever. And to face the prospect of all of that ending is just horrible. I don't think I can watch S6 any more and I don't want to be tempted to throw my tapes away, so I'm sending them back to my fiance. He is kind of pissed about this, but there's not much else I can do, since if I had them in the house I would be tempted to do something silly and send the results to ME.

I seem to be sighing a lot lately.... Thanks for letting me ramble.

I know exactly what you guys mean - it makes you feel a bit of sad-o (American translation = nerd) when you start to get upset at the thought of a fictional characters demise and the effects it's going to have on her soul mate.

Still, look at it this way: At least it means that the characters have a connection with us in some way...why not feel bad if bad things are going to happen ?

Just hang on in there - I don't think the Willow & Tara rollercoaster has gone into it's final twist yet...:)

Early on, I made the decision to stop watching the show right before Tara dies. Right now Im able to put whats going to happen out of my mind enough that I can still enjoy the tapes, but I know if I actually see all this happen, I might not be able to enjoy the old shows anymore.

That happened with Xena. I made the mistake of watching the finale even though I knew what was going to happen and then I couldnt watch the old shows anymore. Everything was ruined from that point on and even though I have every episode on tape, since the finale aired, I havent watched even a second of the show.

Fortunately at the time, I was just getting into Willow and Tara so I had something even better to take its place. But if Willow and Tara get tainted for me, I have nothing else to turn to and I dont want to let that happen, so I cant watch. I can read about it and discuss it on the board, but seeing it is a totally different thing for me. Then it becomes real.

It was an awesome idea and very much needed. It will be a big help in the coming months.

Hey, did anyone see the [i:b262d96eca] Queer As Folk[/i:b262d96eca] where Michael is devastated by the death of his favorite comic book character, Capt. Astro? It was sort of therapeutic for me. He's freaking out, depressed, angry, starting petitions, etc. His friends comfort him and reassure him that it's [i:b262d96eca] not[/i:b262d96eca] loony-toons to be so emotionally invested in a fictional character.

Anyway, I think back to the whole Tara getting brain-sucked thing last season. I was completely unspoiled for BtVS until TR this season. Since I've been spoiled, I've read lots of comments over the last several months from those of you who were spoiled for the brain-suck. You talk about how devastating that was, knowing that no one had ever recovered, thinking you were losing Tara. As I was watching that episode, I was like, "Holy shit!" But I never ever [i:b262d96eca] ever[/i:b262d96eca] questioned whether Tara's sanity would be restored. I knew without a doubt that it would be. Because it had to be. Tara had an important purpose in the show and that purpose couldn't be fulfilled by BrainSuckedTara. I'm sure if I'd been spoiled for that, I would've been a wreck...

...as I am now. I'm caught between feeling like everything will be okay in the end because it [i:b262d96eca] has[/i:b262d96eca] to be and feeling like everything's going to shit because things don't always go the way they [i:b262d96eca] should[/i:b262d96eca]. My heart will be torn to shreds by the permanent death of Tara, if that's how it will be. But I'm also extremely upset by what will become of Willow. I was watching BtVS long before Tara showed up, and Willow was my favorite character then. She was someone in whom I saw myself. From the moment of Cordy's softer-side-of-Sears comment, I [i:b262d96eca] felt[/i:b262d96eca] Willow. But DMWillow? I don't know. I can relate to her rage, insecurity, fear, etc. I can relate to her losing control. But I really think they're going to take Willow way beyond what any of us can relate to.

It's hurting me to possibly lose the two people who make the show worth watching for me. I wonder if I were watching these last eps unspoiled, if I would have that same kind of calm confidence I had during the BrainSuckedTara eps.

So it's made me wonder about the wisdom of being spoiled. But I don't think there's any way I can go back. I'm invested on a whole other level now.

Thank Goddess for this thread.

Wow and thank you for starting this thread, I am so glad it exists. It's good to know there are others also going through this.

The information about Tara's... you know... ((D word..)) was the first spoiler I have ever read... and I am trying to figure out whether I'm glad I found out now or whether I would have preferred not knowing and so saving myself the agony of waiting to see it. May the 9th is pretty damn far away...

I actually read the news during an IT lesson at school. I then proceeded to cry in front of my class... and I still keep bursting into random floods of tears... usually at the most odd times.

I don't really think it has actually sunk in for me yet, as I only found out yesterday. I'm sure it's gonna sink in pretty damn fast when I see the episode for myself.

I am considering doing the same as you Scout. Watching past episodes of Xena just isn't the same after seeing the final episode, and I know if I try to watch past episodes of Buffy after seeing Tara's death there'll always be the image of what is to happen in my mind.

Much love Kitties...

I can totally relate about the Xena thing. I watched the finale a few times, enough to make some kind of peace with it, and I haven't watched one of my tapes since. We actually wound up getting Oxygen a few months after it was all over with, so I pass by an ep every now and then, but I've yet to watch another one.

I'm a bit afraid of that happening with Buffy too, but really the Xena thing was as much about the way it ended as anything. Certainly seeing her die wasn't unusual by that point. But it was the conclusion of it and the way it cast such an ugly shadow on the whole show that really ruined everything to me.

I'm certainly willing to give Joss the same consideration. For me, it's all about how it ends.

But I've still been watching my Buffy tapes. I like to watch them and try to decide what stories I think they have been telling this season and how it relates to the ending, and also look for clues and foreshadowing. Whenever we start hearing bad rumors and everything, usually watching an ep or two makes me feel better.

My name is Kiwiccan and I am a SPOILER HO!

Most times, when they come from reliable sources, spoilers give me a happy and make me want more. I admit to this addiction freely. Sometimes when we go long periods of time without reliable sources my craving gets so bad I will take any spoiler just to get that sweet release.

Right now I am so freakin sick and tired of this new episode dry spell and all the speculation surrounding what might happen to turn things around in the last episode, that I am becoming bored with spoilers.

I never thought I would EVER feel that way.

HELP ME regain my craving for spoilers....please.

Look, I remember the weekend after we found out that Tara dies. I remember sitting at the computer all Saturday, until late on in the evening. I also remember the kittens who came online and contacted a few of us, joining us in messenger chat. This was [b:b751a03b4e] all[/b:b751a03b4e] day. And we came and went; I myself went over to the shops to stock up on stuff, a couple of others went for a nap, some people went for dinner...but you know, we all came back. And there was always someone to talk to. Always someone online.

I take comfort that that little vigil, or whatever, call it what you will, proved to me that when this happens I know that there'll be someone online to talk to. So nobody will have to be alone. Because the thought of watching that episode alone kills me, it really does. The thought of what's going to happen kills me. Right now, it's only knowing that there's a certain group of people around most of the day and during the evening that is enabling me to be rational and calm. And you know, I have to be rational and calm. There'll be a time for freaking out later on.

And fuckit, that's just reminded me of the reading I had to read at my grandmother's funeral. Bugger.

I wish I could feel that I wasn't going to be alone in this. Well, more than anything else I wish it wasn't happening...but it's happening, and I feel like I am facing it alone. I am at the Kitty as often as I can be, and I try to feel like I am part of the community here, but it's a struggle for me. I try to convince myself that the Kitties are my friends, but it really doesn't work. I guess it's just really hard to believe that people don't hate you when you devote so much energy to hating yourself.

And now this. I [i:3ec98ba546] know[/i:3ec98ba546] it was stupid to get this emotionally involved, because it leaves me victim to the whims of writers and producers who, at the end of the day, let's face it, really don't give a shit whether I am happy or sad, whether I live or die. I'm just a nameless face in a sea of nameless faces, and that sea may change, may ebb and flow, but it's not going to dry up. One drop of water more or less won't make any difference. So yeah, it was stupid, but I did it and it's too late. I've been trying desperately since this news first broke to distance myself emotionally from the characters and storyline. I quit watching my tapes. Honestly, I stopped reading most of the threads on the board that are W/T-related, except for the spoiler threads which I continue to haunt in the hopes of finding some scrap of goodness to hold on to. Sometimes I think it's working, but then I'll read something like Bob's most recent shoot report and suddenly I'm right back in it, the sick feeling of pure dread settling in the pit of my stomach again....

I'm scared. I don't want to let this affect me but it's going to no matter what. I just don't know how bad it's going to get. And the worst thing is, I feel like I'm facing it alone. Like everything else. I think the most frustrating part is, I just don't understand why they are doing this. It makes no sense. They say they are giving us what we need rather than what we want, but I don't fucking need to see senseless violence and death and the seeming loss of all hope...I've got the news for that. What I need is a story about love and beauty and finding hope even in the midst of darkness. That's what I need.
