OK - so this is fairly scary. My first post on a Board (any Board). Did I mention I don't perform well under pressure?

I've been lurking for about six months and thought it was about time I "came of the of the closet" and into the kitten light. I've taken so much from this Board (by reading amazing fiction, spoliers and getting hold of season 6 downloads) that I started to feel bad about not contributing. So - guilt brought me this far.

Short description - I'm a 36 yr old Willow groupie from Wellington, NZ and a veteran from the first BTVS season.

Too much information?

Hey all,

Ok, so I posted in other threads before making it over to here.... Im a crasher, what can I say? Ummm.... about me.... Im 25 (till Feb 29th... err 28th... or is it March 1?.... ok, now Im even confused!)I will be finishing my masters of social work degree in June, and currently working for Riverside County (which is in Southern California, West of Los Angeles), Child Protective Services..... I may also be the only strait guy on this board.... so I hope Im not intruding..... Buffy and Angel and the only shows that I have the time or inclination to watch anymore, (after the decline of Star Trek, anyway). Willow has been my favorite character (and the one I most identify with) since I started watching at the end of season 2), and I have enjoyed watching her grow and change. Her relationship with Tara is really quite facinating, and a pleasure to watch. Anyway.... Ive come here looking for reassurance that my "Big Bad Joss is Gonna Rip Out Our Hearts and Do the Dance of Evil Joy by Killing Off Tara" Theory is completely baseless..... please?

CPS Boy, welcome to the board.
You are most certainly *not* the only straight guy on the board. There are many straight-gay-bi-trans-every type of gender-race-nationality you can think of people on this board. That is what makes it so interesting, and what makes W/T so special, their love attracts so many different people, and that is why we all come here right?

As for Tara, we keep possible spoilery talk into spoiler threads, so you might want to read the older season 6 spoiler threads in which that subject has been debated in great detail. We do not discuss it anymore however, read the first post in the latest Season 6 spoiler thread as to the why, and you can follow the links back to the older threads.

If you have any general questions about the board, please read the Kitten Board FAQ.

Dr. G

Ummm... ok. My bad. No spoilering (is that a word?)or negativity was intended. Thanx for the 411.

Oh! I do have a question though.... the FAQ says this:

Topics questioning W/T's relationship, chemistry, depth, etc. are NOT welcome.

This seems vague and ambiguous to me. Would anyone like to elaberate?

First welcome all the newbies! Hope you stick around!

I'll clarify that for you CPS boy, the board was created as a shelter from the assaults that the relationship took back when Willow chose Tara as her lover. Every board you went to had a post about how Willow looked at Tara like a favorite aunt or something like this. Even now you can go to a board and see posts about how they don't have chemistry.

If anyone comes to hang out on this board, I will assume they think W/T have chemistry and their relationship is believable. Historically people coming here to ask us to explain why we think they have chemistry or how they don't believe w/t make a believable couple, are trolling. Then it becomes an attack on one poster full of obvious redundant posts because all of us love w/t.

So to avoid all that we just don't welcome that kind of topic.

xita

Xita:

Thanx for the info. I guess that I can see that. And how anyone can reach the conclusion that they have no chemistry is beyond me. But just an observation, (not a criticism, mind you, just an observation,) Ive noticed that this board has ALOT of rules regarding what can and cannot be posted here.... more than any other board I've been too....Do you find that this somewhat limits the quality of the discussions?

OH! and HEY! you're in Los Angeles! Can you believe all this wind? Whats keeping you up so late? Im a student... so I have a decent excuse....

CPS Boy, I know you meant no negativity, I was just trying to answer your questions. It's part of my noseyness and the WillTara-ing I and Warduke do (and if you want to know what I mean by that, heh heh, I have explained it in another thread here).
Anyway, I have read the FAQ's of other Buffy sites and I do not see such a big difference myself, in any case, I have been around here for over a year, and I'd answer your question with a no, but I guess you had best read the threads and the discussions and judge for yourself.

frogfear, heh heh, have you met FroggyFrog yet? He is from Australia as well, and one of the sweetest froggies there ever have been, and he has brought the Kitten board a great many goodies: just go to http://froggyfrog.com and follow the links and see for yourself.

Welcome to the board of course!

CPS Boy, I find our rules keep the discussions from degrading into arguments like you see in most boards. It's the way of the kitten now for a year and a half and I know the regulars like it the way it is. It's not changing. It's restricted for a reason, we wanted a pleasant environment where feeling defensive was not an issue.

Let me answer that question with a headbutt. No wait, I mean, let me answer that question with a resounding NO. It does not limit the quality of the discussions at all. In fact you will find some of the most intelligent and insightful discussions about BTVS (and other things) anywhere right here on this board.

It certainly does limit the type of discussions that can be had. However, we like it that way. As xita said, the Kitten was designed as a refuge--like the world that it reflects, the internet is huge and amazing and wonderful but also sometimes frightening, overwhelming, and infuriating. Especially the latter. Oh yes, especially that one. The Kitten is a safe place where one is assured of being treated with kindness, compassion, and above all respect. For the most part, anyway...we screw up sometimes (I know I definitely do) but we try our best.

The rules help keep the Kitten the kind of place it is. There are certainly many other boards that have fewer or no rules--I find them intolerable for the way people so often treat their fellow human beings disrespectfully, even inhumanely at times. Do I ever feel restricted by the rules here? Yes, now and then. It's a sacrifice I'm more than willing to make. Only you can determine if the same is true for you (and that means all newbies, not just CPS Boy). If you decide it is....well then, welcome to the Kitten. quote:

Hi all,

I have been reading this site for a few weeks and thought I should quit lurking and post for once.

My name is Matt and I'm a 24 yr old PhD student at the University of Otago, in New Zealand.
Being at the far end of the world means that we always have to wait for new BtVS seasons hence how I found this site, looking for spoilers when I should be writing a thesis (but what my supervisor doesn't know won't hurt her ).

Anyway its so nice to find a grown-ups forum to discuss BtVS and W/T

hello kittens!

some background:
although i've been a buffy fan right from the start, i was never aware of the massive online community, and have only really been involved since the second part of season 4 (a coincidence? - i'm sure something else was happening in Buffy around that time). anyways, i've been a w/t fan all along, and have been, like most of us in this thread, lurking here for some time now. i am also a major spoiler fan - i have seen all the s6 eps so far, despite being a uk fan without sky!

after visiting many different boards, i found the kitten board to be the only one to be non-judgemental and unbiased not just towards w/t but to everything buffy. best of all, however, something that this board has is a nice, friendly community - somethings most other boards can only hope for, and something i would be proud to be a part of. lets keep up the good work ppl!

Hi, ladies (and gentlemen, if there are any here). I’ve actually never seen any episode of “Buffy,” and I came to know of this board by way of a boy friend who is a rabid and vocal fan of the author ‘Dumbsaint.’ He first introduced me to Ms. Dumbsaint’s work when attempting to kindle me by having me read “Vixens.” He was, of course, unsuccessful, but I was very taken with Dumbsaint’s talent and wordplay, and I thought I’d press into this introduction thread to compliment her. Should you come across this post, Dumbsaint, you’ll be pleased to know your work is duly appreciated across the spectrum. I thought you’d find it amusing—what with the sense of humor evidenced in your work—that your writing is being employed by boys, girls, straights, and gays as an across-the-board aphrodisiac. Well done; we love your work; keep it up!

And on an unrelated note, but in an effort to conform to the subject of introduction…I’m a 23-year-old girls’ school graduate, currently attending law school, working on a specialization in corporate law (or real property). My first name is Rossington. (My parents are inexplicably cruel.) Lately, in my two seconds of daily spare time, I’ve been occupying myself with jazz, National Geographic documentaries, my extremely part-time job of editing physics dissertations that go over my head and feuding with the American Journal of Human Genetics, milk, Egyptian cotton, Malthusian population control essays, Charlie Brown cartoons, and Froot Loops. (Four weeks into the semester and I’m happily regressing!) Good evening, all.
