General Season 6 Spoilers - Part 5 - The Black Hole

Postby AnGeL X » Thu Jan 24, 2002 5:11 pm

Psssttt...

Since I'm still waiting on a few things before I really spoil ep 15, I figured I'd give you all a little bit more of a [harmless] tidbit to enjoy. I can't guarantee will make it to air since it's one little scene and could be cut...but I highly doubt it.

Although there is no Tara in the episode, there is indication of progress for her and Willow when Willow chats with Dawn about being back on somewhat good terms with Tara. Willow's being exceptionally cautious and not rushing into anything, not even daring to call Tara. More than anything, the door is finally open on rebuilding their relationship. At the end of 14, the two are on good terms, but by having the magic supplies, Willow kinda backed herself up a few steps and really has to prove how trustworthy and strong she can be. She does mention in 15 that if she had the guts to call Tara, she would not get hung up on.

Okay...so it's itty bitty news...but it's all the W/T news I got! And Willow gets all giddy because of it. So...goodness.

I agree with Julia, little bitty news to us (that does not revolve around a Tuesday-ish Tara scenario) is HUGE.

I'll take it!

General Season 6 Spoilers - Part 5 - The Black Hole

As good as this news sounds - and believe me, it sounds really great - I have this nagging feeling that we're not out of the woods just yet. It wouldn't be like Joss to let Willow and Tara get back together in some smooth and easy fashion. That would be too dull.

I think we still need to brace ourselves for one more bump in the road. Something big, dramatic and doggone romantic to bring our girls back together. Possibly even involving a near-death or a non-death fake-out for Tara, just to stick it to people who think she's going to die.

Mind you, those are just my thoughts. I'm not basing this on any ultra-secret insider memo-knowledge that I'll warn you not to defy.

Cause goodness knows, Willow and Tara haven't met their angst quota While I wouldn't be surprised with the scenario you're suggesting, I think the W/T arc may actually be on the upswing. It's time for them to get a chance for a little happiness.

I don't think my heart could take another bump in the road, but Joss does like to play with people and a fake/near death would be very in character.
I suppose as long as any progress is made and they eventually get back together that would be enough.

I think the fact that it is going slowly is wonderful and it shows Willow's growing maturity. Thanks AngelX, I think we all really needed that. I mean Willow giddy about Tara in a Taraless episode is pretty much as good as it gets for that type of episode.

I agree with xita...going slow is good for the girls. The conversation about the phone call seems so sweet...I can't wait to see it. Yeah...willow and tara will get back together soon!

General Season 6 Spoilers - Part 5 - The Black Hole

Wanda has an interview with marti noxon
here

Quick highlight:

The largest rumor floating around this season has been that there will be a big death on the finale. True?
That was the same rumor last year--and, you know, somebody did die. I mean, there's always going to be a big death eventually.

How long are the actors under contract?
All of the main cast members are contracted through next season--season seven.

What about Amber Benson (Tara)?
She's contracted for 16 out of 22 episodes this season, just as she was last season. And all that means is she won't be in six of the episodes.

and uck:

Have we seen the worst of Willow's bad side?
Almost every character deals with this notion of power, what it means to attain power and that, in some ways, power always corrupts. As much as Willow has grown and changed--personally, I can attest to the fact that the inner nerd is always there. No matter how much you change, there's always going to be some insecurity. And the temptation to empower yourself, maybe beyond reason, is really there...So, that will cause Willow the temptation to embellish herself.

I really liked this interview. Once again Marti depicts Tara's absence from some episodes as no big deal, which is good. I mean, no Tara is a big deal for us, but it's no big deal in terms of figuring out who's coming back and who's not coming back.

I also liked Marti's description of what's going on with Buffy and Spike, and what the "big bad" - or rather "big badness" - for the season is going to be about.

Wanda got lucky.

Looks like we pretty much got confirmation on the big bad is themselves theory we've had. Though she does seem to be hedging abit on the question about Willow's bad side. Looks like that isn't played out.

Marti said that Willow would be tempted, but she didn't say Willow would give into that temptation. I think if Willow was going to do something really awful, she would have just said that we haven't seen the worst of Willow yet. I really don't think that once she gets Tara back, she's going to lose her again. But the temptation will always be there. Tara just has to help her through it...I really can't see them destroying the Willow/ Tara relationship. They've invested so much into it, there is too much chemistry, and they've gotten alot of acclaim for depicting a sewroius, loving lesbian relationship. I personally think that Willow will be tempted to use black magic in some sort of defense of Tara, kicking Rack's ass, helping the Scoobies kind of way......Face it, Marti can't just say, "oh yeah, Willow's problem is solved." Make sense?

It's the storyline it doesn't mean Willow is evil or going bad, it's just that dealing with her power is going to be a life long issue for her.

Marti said there is no big bad, I wouldn't want to defy her.

Right, like an alcoholic has to deal with their addiction and not give into it. I think one of the strengths of Tara's character is that she can show Willow that she doesn't have to be the " big, bad witch" in order to be special. Tara loves Willow completely, unlike anyone else, and I think as Willow begins to see and understand this, she will find strength in it. But the temptation of the addiction will always be there. Babbling gain....

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Jan 24, 2002 9:47 pm

I already said this to Xita on IM, but I'll say it here as well.

I think we've got one more rough W/T episode left in the season. One more major dramatic crisis where Willow has to face her non-magical self and discover that she's still valuable and lovable. At the end of that episode would be the big W/T reunion.

Again, not basing this on any facts. Merely saying what I would do as a writer and what I think Marti is hinting at. We'll just have to wait and see how things unfold.

I think you're probably right. Willow has to face her ultimate test and prove her love by choosing Tara over the magic. That's the only real way that she can truly regain Tara's trust. I think Tara realizes that Willow's addiction will always be something they have to work at. Gotta run now. This board is my addiction, but I have to get up at 5AM... I like reading your posts BBQ Guy. You have a lot of great insight....

I really agree with Bob on this; from a writer's perspective, it makes perfect sense to throw in a more clear-cut case of Willow maybe taking a step backwards, only to (knock on wood) symbolically choose Tara over magical prowess. It certainly feels that way to me from what we've seen this season thus far.

love,

Oh, I did not mean to insinuate either of these things. Just that the whole thing definitely has not played out yet. I think we'll be seeing some pretty serious temptation.

And I guess by Marti saying there is not a big bad it is pretty much defying a certain someone who said there would be.
