After this episode airs, she will be in 4 more, if she's in exactly 16 episodes this year, as seems to be the case the way Marti keeps saying it.[This message has been edited by Warduke (edited February 10, 2002).]

I'm just wondering aloud here, but to what or whom does the title of the ep refer? I know where the phrasing originates, but how does it relate to the Scoobies?See...I have this whole theory about things moving full circle. And if things are moving full circle towards better days...then...you know where I'm heading with this. Especially in light of drlloyd's post above.
Oh what...so I'm blindly optimistic. Look, someone has to be. True love will out. It always does, if it's true. If it ain't *coughxanderandanyacough* then...you know...curtains.

i know someone else might jump in with this... but "As you were" is indeed a military phrase...it's a command given to lower ranking troops after an officer/higher ranking has walked into a room without prior notice and a call to attention was enacted to show respect...
usually the order given in order to allow everyone to relax again and go about their business without interuption...
so it could definately be a Riley reference...

Yeah I assumed that "As You Were" was a reference to Riley and the whole military thing, but on a deeper level I figured that Riley's return is supposed to point up the differences between Buffy "as she was"--i.e., when she was with Riley--and as she is--with Spike.
That's my take, anyway. There may be something else it refers to that we don't know about...the ep titles often have multiple meanings.

I'm not exactly sure where to put this observation. This is my best guess.I did a quick check of the Olympics schedule and discovered that next Tuesday (Feb 19) is the Ladies' Short Program in the Figure Skating competition. Pretty smart move of UPN to push "As You Were" back a week, if you ask me. They're probably thinking - and rightly so - that bunches of people will tune in to watch Michelle, Sasha and Sarah instead.
