Postby Glory-p3-mrs » Sun Mar 03, 2002 8:30 am

so i watched the movie for the sake of eliza and i don't think it was worth it.
but now i'm confused and my friends will never watch a movie i get out again.
(although i'm already pushing 'city by the sea' and 'the new guy')

anyway, somebody who saw it: talk to me.

all i got out of it was that the name cassandra probably isn't an accidental name and that the greek prophet lady should shed some light
but the movie still makes no sense!

(and i really really did NOT like raven. i'd rather have had annie be straight.)

it was a weird movie...i saw it when it came out in theatres..the only thing i understood was that the whole movie after the car crash was the blond girl teetering between life and death....the part about the priest was weird too...hard movie to follow

Well, I missed this one (and from the sounds of it I think that's just as well) Probably catch it when it comes to cable like I did with Valentine- what a stinker of a movie that was.

I saw that "Soul Survivors" is out on DVD now. I have to see it because it was filmed in the neighborhood where I used to live.

Yeah, I saw an ad for it in EW; there's a tie in w/ Best Buy (it's called "The Killer Cut" and its the R-rated version). This was actually part of the ad campaign:

More blood! More sex! More terror than the theatrical release!

I mean, talk about lowest-common-denominator appeal; Eliza deserves better.

The cast picture did include significant Eliza cleavage; now that I can't really argue with.

Oh, finally, the USA today had a review of the DVD, and described Eliza's character as a 'lesbian collegiate'.

P.S. Hey KJ, you live in Chicago? Where? I'm in Lombard myself.

Yeah, now we live on the northwest side. Just south of Albany Park and East of Old Irving.

Our 'niche' has no name; just the general "Irving Park"

Soul Survivors was filmed in Roscoe Village.

Where is Roscoe Village? I've got a vague smattering of the Chicago locale.

Anyway, I saw this movie and god, did it suck ass big time or what? I honestly can't remember when I've been so bored. I only watched it for the "Eliza snogs a girl" and the "Eliza lets a woman go down on her in a seedy toilet" factor. And I have to say, not even Eliza could pull this movie out of the doldrums. Gah.

Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back...heh heh.

Am I the only one who liked valentine and thought it was a refreshing, non-satire horror that went back to basics. I though David B was good and the cast were all on form.. well driected too. Not a classic but a fun horror fic none the less.

Seeing Soul Survivors asap!

I liked valentine (which is odd cause i'm not a DB fan) but i'm a teenager so i have my excuse for liking it!

Havn't seen Soul Survivors yet, waiting for it to come to DVD in the UK, cause call me tight but i wasn't willing to pay £5 to c a film that got bad reviews at the cinema!

Dushku was the only decent thing about Soul Survivors. The movie was so bad that when it ended i felt justified in walking upstairs to go see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back just to get my moneys worth out of that trip to the movies. JS&B is really rude and crude but funny as hell if you like that kind of humour (which I do), not to mention Dushku in that full body leather outfit.

I haven't seen Soul Survivors but I did have the 'fun' of seeing Valentine in the theatre...

Though I have seen worse horror movies come out in the last few years... this IMHO was not a classic... a bit too telegraphed though on a horror scale some of the killings were orginal

I actually liked Soul Survivors, probably because I'm such an Eliza fan but it wasn't so bad. I'm also a big fan of cheesy teen movies and a big fan of bad movies so we could also chalk it up to that. Melissa Sagemiller (cassi) was in another 'bad' teen movie, Get Over It, with Kirsten Dunst.

I thought Valentine was ok, even if I was forced into watching by one of my friends who is a very big DB fan.

The only problem I had with watching the film was my friend, who upon the demise of Denise Richard's character to started cheering and clapping.

It was two months before I could return to that particular cinema.

Wow, I seem to have started something with my Valentine comments. I didn't hate it, just didn't think it was a very good movie.

I actually rented it last night. It was sitting there...and since I love horror movies, I thought I would give it a try. I was soooooooo sorry I did. Granted there are some yummy grabbing parts...but really the movie was very predictable. I knew within the first five minutes how the entire movie was going to turn out. Eliza did great...with the lousy script. It was too cookie cutter with all the other horror movies that have come out in the past 3 or 4 years. Blair Witch was the last orignal horror movie I saw, but of course it was scarier for me cause I live minutes from the park they filmed it at.

Overall I would give Soul Survivor only one star. Pretty boring overall.

well-
i didn't think it was absolutely wretched, it just wasn't very good

and i didn't mind valentine either

though in both movies (i talk throughout scary movies - its a safety thing) i called them 'faith' and 'angel' not their characters names

i dunno, never saw JaSBSB
any good at all?

Yeah, I liked J&SBSB, but then I've liked most of Kevin Smith's movies. (I know, I'm strange like that) They're very crude, but fairly creative. It does have tons of references to his previous movies, though, so if you haven't seen 'em you may be a bit lost.

Oh, it does have Eliza in a pleather catsuit, so- meow!

Gonna post this here instead of create a new thread, so hope ppl notice this little tidbit...

Apparently Eliza backed out of doing a lesbian scene in 'Jay & Silent Bob Break Wind' (or whatever. I haven't seen it yet ). Anyone else heard this?

In the special features part of the DVD the director talks about this, and apparently Eliza backed out b/c she said she'd already done such a scene in Soul Survivors

Hmm. I'm sure all us Buffy/Faith fans wouldn't have minded though. (Me especially coz the Soul Survivors one was, well, kinda not that much fun anyway, in my totally humble opinion)

She told Kevin Smith she wouldn't do any lesbian stuff in the movie cause she did it in the last movie and her grandmother is a mormon(sp?) and so she decided not to do it.

Didn't really matter for the movie release because they ended up cutting out all the lesbian scenes. It did make a difference for the DVD though because they added all those deleted scenes back on. I'm kind of glad that she didn't do it though because I really disliked Chrissy (the blond)and probably would have been yelling No don't kiss her!! Kick her ass!! Oh, come on!!

Oh and Eliza in the leather made the whole movie worthwhile, well at least for me it did. Especially her little warm up before the mega backflip scene.

I haven't seen Soul Survivors yet but I was wondering, is anyone offended when producers/directors put in some lesbian act just to make money and get more guys to see the movie or do you enjoy it to?

I love movies like Lost and Delirious, Show Me Love, Better Than Chocolate, and I love Eliza so much[drool] but I'm not sure how I feel about sticking a lesbian scene in a movie.

BTW: I say again I didn't see Soul Survivors.
