I've just remembered that I have to send postcards via Postcrossing. The problem is writing them; I have serious major case of postcard-writer's block.

Adam: So, what'd you do all day, sickie?
Me: A lot of writing.
Adam: You and your porn.
Me: Yeah, well, I may be 4000 words into this sex scene, but they aren't naked yet.
Adam: I don't think you understand the point of porn.

There are many things I love about my daughter, but her honesty and her heart are probably her best qualities. Here is a conversation after we picked her up at camp last week. Keep in mind that she's only 12...

ME: So, did you have a good time?
J: Yeah, it was the best!
ME: How'd it go with your roommate this year?
J: (rolls eyes) I know she is one of my best friends and all but, she's a total pig.
ME: (laughing because if you could see J's room...) Oh, well that's too bad. Did you make lot's of new friends?
J: Yeah, but it's weird.
ME: How so?
J: Well, they all hate their parents and not one of them had a good thing to say. They said some really mean things.
ME: And did you say you hated your parents too?
J: WHAT?! No way! I love you guys. I told them that I felt sorry for them because my parents are awesome. I could never imagine hating you guys, I may get mad and not agree with you, but I would never stoop to their level. I'm lucky and I don't take it for granted.

Shel - that is truly awesome!

Last week Rachel's uncle died.
Today my sister-in-law's grandmother died. She was the first person who wasn't basically Rachel, me, my SIL, my SIL's mother, etc. to hold Asher when he was born.

After we attend those funerals our count for the year will be:

Rachel has attended 5 funerals
I've attended 3.
Our dog died.
Rachel's SIL got diagnosed with colon cancer.
2 good friends miscarried.

And you know what... I still feel that we are incredibly blessed by the universe and all the beauty and luck it holds.

My friend on gynecological exam.

Doc: Are you sexually active? What are you using as a protection?
She: Homosexuality.

OK, I wish I had guts like her.

This morning I've:

Fed the kids breakfast
Fed myself breakfast.
Given Asher his meds.
Given the kids their vitamins.
Given the cat her pill!
Taken out the garbage.
Taken out the recycling.

In other words, so far I rock at a day of single-parenthood.

My best friend is a social work coach and today she had appraisals with the emplyees at the thriftshop. We drove there together because I had to drop of her dog at another friend, so I went inside with her for a little while. And then an half hour later I came out with ten books, Trivial Pursuit deluxe (which I totally rock in) and AtmosFear for less then €10,-. I love unexpected bargains.

The 14th of July will probably never be the same and most likely never again be a good day in this life. I try to see the bright side, but all too soon the panic comes crashing down on me. It's been three years today and even though sometimes it feels much longer, I still remember it, like it was yesterday. The panic, the pain, everything. I'm glad my parents forgot what day today is, because I can't have them freaking out as well. 1097 days and I'm still here...

A year ago was (up until now) somehow the worst and kind of the best day of my life. I don't think I've ever felt so numb and defeated as I did exactly a year ago. In the end it turned into a great day, because I got a piece of myself back that very day, though it was hard to look at it like that for almost two months...

I'm intrigued and also really worried about what this day may bring in the future.

I work in a movie theatre, and I had to open up this morning at 8 .a.m. So I got in and I found this note from one of my bosses which said that the urinals were broken and the main tap was turned off. And I had the honor to turn it on again, but the directions of where the tap should be was very cryptic. It was like 'oh yeah by the way...it's totally in the corner of the DPO area.' And I was like, okay and where the hell is that supposed to be.

My best friend arrived (who also works there) and she didn't know where it was either. But we needed water, because you know, people want to go to the toilet and so. So we went searching and it was like a quest. We searched in all spaces and areas, even in some we have never been before. It was really fun, scary and exciting (I mean an totally empty movie theatre..) and we called it "F&S: The Quest for the Water Main Tap."

Finally we found it in the basement (well, I did. My friend was waiting at the main door, because it was dark and she was afraid that door would fall in the lock behind us), in a seperate little space with all those round manual switches. And it was dark, so when I fixed it, I really felt like a hero a little bit.

Well, it just totally broke the dull routine of today.

I was invited to join a writers contest. The problem is I'm not quite sure I can write anything good in my native language. Yeah. I guess I'm too used to writing in English and I haven't writen anything in Slovak for months. So I'm going to try and write something, then frown upon the technique and pacing, then direct a very steady glare until it starts to change into my liking. That shall work.

Right now, as I type this, there is a C-R-A-Z-Y person in my lobby. I mean certifiable.

Crazy Lady: On the phone you said $24.95 and now you're trying to say it's more. You are all a bunch of liars.
Receptionist: Um, tax?
Crazy Lady: You mean I have to pay tax on this?
Receptionist: Yes ma'am, sales tax.
Crazy Lady: This is ridiculous. (Picks up a graduation announcement off the counter and waves it in the air) Why you didn't have these cards three years ago when I had my daughter in here.
Receptionist: They're a fairly new product.
Crazy Lady: Ugh, you people.

She then proceeded to follow her 18 yr old son into the dressing room to "dress him properly." Seriously?

As much as I adore Doctor Who and the whole Whoniverse, I really wish there were a lesbian pairing (canon or not) to latch onto. That is the only thing it lacks.

Re: Random Moments

Postby sova » Sat Jul 21, 2012 7:22 am

I fell off the bike on Thursday. Me and my dog were on 35 miles long ride, through forests and fields. It was perfect and totally worth it, but the fall itself was really silly. Buffy always runs without a leash next to me, but we were reaching a very frequent road so I clipped a leash onto her harness and attached it to the front of my bike. Usually we cross road without leash, she's responsible enough, but she's a border collie so she has herding tendencies towards cars and it was road where the cars were going really fast. Don't even start me on how she was as a puppy. It's much better now, but I don't want to risk - hence the leash.

So, we were going down the hill and suddenly the leash got caught in the front wheel, dragging Buffy INTO it, and stopping the wheel altogether. And I was in the air, before having rather intimate acquaintance with road, earning nasty road rashes on my left knee, right forearm and shoulder. I was pretty knocked out and I nearly couldn't breathe, but in my haze I focused on act of breathing, before Buffy came to me and I inspected her; fortunately she was uninjured and she was kind of at the edge of freak out, because I fell. She looks at me troubled even when my bike squeaks. She's just.. like that.

Then I lifted myself off the road and even though my left knee was really weak from the impact, I was basically OK. My bike's front wheel was jammed and I tried to wind the caught leash off. And then I saw Buffy's harness in the wheel, stuck there as well. God, if she wasn't so agile and slender, she wouldn't made it from the harness...

So, screw leash. I sat on the bike and we did the remaining 5 miles to home without leash. It started to rain, so we got home soaked. I'm never gonna use the f-ing leash again, because the next time it could be lot more worse, and I don't want to injure my dog. I don't use leash very much, only in public transport and on such occasions, IMHO leash is a barrier of communication. I don't attach a leash on my friends, so why would I do it to my dog who's a friend too? But when it comes to fast moving cars, it's dangerous. It's a conflict I'm facing frequently. My beliefs vs. my dog's safety. I shouldn't worry so much... Buffy's a big girl now. She knows her trying to herd cars freaks me out. I'm sidetracking, ain't I.

Now I have angina and my whole body hurts. You wouldn't believe how painful a road rash could be. I've never fallen like that and I don't seem to recall showering being so painful. Not to mention sleeping and moving. It sucks.

But on the other hand, I'm glad I didn't plow the road with my chin or nose. And I'm glad Buffy's such a fantastic dog!

Thanks, but I don't think they are available in my country and I'm not quite sure I'd need such extension for 2 minutes of leash attachment. But as I said, I'm quitting using them! :D Leashes are pure evil.

Yesterday I went to the doctor because I have a weird rash on both legs. It itches like nobody's business and I can't seem to stop scratching. Anyway, the doc gave me this medicine to take, 25mg 1 every six hours, to stop me from scratching. It's mostly used as an antihistamine, but is also used to treat anxiety and tension.

I took one yesterday around 7pm and I could hardly get out of bed this morning! WTF? I felt the effects ALL DAY LONG and I'm supposed to take it every 6 hours...seriously? This is exactly the reason I never did drugs, because they really effect me. On a high note (literally), I felt great today! Nothing bothered me and I was fascinated just watching my hands move. :p

For the first time in more than two years, I really want to watch the OC, and I have no idea why. I was always a little embarrassed that I loved that show, and I hadn't thought about it for ages, but tonight for some weird random reason I really want to watch it.
