You know what? Fuck closets.
So, I'm Facebook friends with my high school girlfriend's mom (important fact: said ex-girlfriend is straight). Last night, she posted about how her sister has a house for rent, and I made a comment about how I wished I was looking for housing in the area, because I've never gotten to use "I dated your niece" as a reference before. I didn't even think about it--I've been out since I was 16. And said ex's mom liked my comment, and everything was all hunky dory.
Until this morning, when I see that my ex's aunt has also commented. Now, the comment was perfectly friendly and innocuous. But I suddenly remembered that my ex, to my knowledge, never told her extended family that she ever dated a girl. She certainly never told her father (who lived 1000 miles away, which is how the mom knew and the dad didn't). So now I'm worried that I may have just outted a decade-old relationship to my straight, married ex-girlfriend's maternal family (the paternal family would have been worse).
Which just fits with today's theme of "fear I've just complicated the lives of people who used to love me."
Oh, and I'm sick, as is my fiance; based on his progression, I won't be back on my feet until the weekend.
Fuck.
