My wife has been traveling an insane amount this month, and tonight her flight was diverted, delayed and then cancelled due to bad weather. She's decided to fly to another nearby airport and drive the rest of the way, and the whole situation makes me extremely nervous. I just want her home.

(I know this is a minor thing, but I'm grumpy and whiny tonight so it's got me a little pissed.)
My computer and my roommate's were both plugged into the outlet at the desk, where her desk lamp plugs in. She was getting ready for bed, and asked if I minded if she turned her lamp on and the other light off as it's bright for sleeping, so I said sure. Then she unplugged *my* computer to plug it in. I'm working on my computer, whereas she's going to sleep and doesn't need hers. I've told her before that I don't unplug her computer because it's *hers*; similar consideration would be nice.

My best friend and I were talking about a one-night camping trip with some our other friends; admittedly it was her idea, but I was the first one she talked to about it, and out of about 15 people she invited I'm one of only two who doesn't live in the area-- meaning one of only two who could only go in the next two weeks. But after I jumped on board she talked to other friends and picked a date without talking to me. There was a 50/50 chance I could go, which I told her straight away. There were only 3 other people actually saying they wanted to go, two of whom could have gone on the date she picked and one that could only go on the following weekend. So she moved it to the weekend, knowing I couldn't go then and not even knowing if one of the friends who'd agreed to go would still be available on a Saturday. The friend she moved the schedule for is someone she sees nearly every week and isn't even close to, someone who lives in the area and presumably could go at other times. But I was the very first person she talked to about it, and I'm only in town for two more weeks, and she planned the trip so that I couldn't go.

So no I don't get to go on the trip, and I'm grumpy with my best friend when I'm about to go over to her house.

This has been a year of death for me. First my grandmother, now two aunts and an uncle and all in the past 6 months. The most recent aunt....this very morning. Whether or not we had been close the past few years we were at one point and its a death nonetheless. I still remember my childhood and the fact that we were close, all the things we used to do together. Times at my grandparents house when everyone was together and now a huge part of that, 4 people, are missing.

I am sorry this has been a tough year for you.

I sympathize with you. Lots of death for me this year too and I can even tell I'll be losing more loved ones next year as well. It can be extremely difficult to deal with.

Thank you both. Its just been extremely hard. Both of my aunts were not in the best of health but my grandmothers health was actually not too bad and then it went rapidly downhill. She went from being fine to being in the hospital for 2 months with a breathing tube and it just....she never improved enough to be without it and they told us she never would, we had no choice but to pull the plug and let nature take its course, but then nature always proves you wrong because they hadn't even removed the machines and they said her heart gave out. That was it.

My things that suck today? The little woman is away for work and I miss her like crazy. Plus she's sick and I can't be there and she has to be as stubborn as I am and refuses to go and get medicine. Thats what the insurance is for!

This morning I got super excited because my newest ship seemed like it might actually come to something; for 30 glorious minutes the characters showed promise as at least close friends. Then at the end of the episode it all fell apart, and I kept hoping the character who left would return, but I just looked it up and that episode was her very last :(

Parties in which my friends are hilariously rude and the lady I am trying to impress is joining them in making fun of me. Yep. Happy new year, I guess. Oh well. Strengthens my resolve to be alone, at least. Ugh.

My "sisters" decided to do Christmas without the rest of us, which really hurt, but we were getting together Christmas Eve to do Christmas, so whatever. Then it was decided no one was ready to exchange gifts, so we still got together but postponed our Christmas celebration. It was going to be last weekend, but then one of my sisters had to go out of town, so we moved it to New Year's. I had an invitation to hang out with a friend for today, but could go because family stuff. I got up today, and my stepmum told me we were meeting at my sister's around 1-2, meaning we'd leave between 12 and 1:30. At 12:50 I heard my dad call my sister and postpone it to this weekend-- when everyone knows I can't go, because I've had plans for weeks to go to a Con. So, in addition to the immense frustration of changing plans, I missed out on plans with my friend *and* don't get to be part of Christmas.

Over the last year or so, I have had to watch my grandfather (97 yrs) slowly get weaker and weaker in his old age. At this point, he has all four kids of his taking care of him and watching him at his house since he has refused to move into an assisted living place. He falls a lot, can't use the bathroom on his own, or take care of himself in any way. It has been a burden on most of the family, but especially on my mother and her three brothers. It has unfortunately really brought this holiday season down. I have watched my mother cry multiple times in frustration. She doesn't want to admit that she would rather see her father die than live this way.

I think he will probably walk on in the next couple months which is probably best for everyone, himself included. But I worry about how it might happen and I dread the day I get the phone call from my mother telling me to come home for his funeral. It just kind of sucks because I don't think anyone really knows what to feel in a situation like this.

Lack of fanfic for one of your favourite pairings :( I've never before appreciated how lucky we kittens are!

In my desperation, I'm currently reading a fic that has some good stuff but also has one of the characters be a werewolf (which don't exist in this world, as it's sci-fi not fantasy, and otherwise the world is *exactly* how it is in the show) and the other has become her stalker o.O And last night I read the fanfic equivalent of a porno (the premise of the story was that one of the women was a cop and she arrested the other and then they had lots and lots of sex in the jail cell while the prisoner was handcuffed--at her own suggestion--so she couldn't escape) because *that's what exists* for my ship, cop/prisoner porno and werewolf/stalker love story.

Smashing someone's side mirror while trying to avoid a swerving car, car owner being a dick and trying to jerk me around about money, period starting early, two exes sitting in my work (right next to each other!), and an ominous promise to "talk about it soon".

Long story short: *today* is what sucks. Oh well.

A friend of mine is a locomotive engineer and today his train hit a woman lying on the tracks. Apparently, she was trying to commit suicide. She somehow managed to survive and is in critical condition, even though both hands were severed. If it was me, I'd never be able to set foot on another train again. Ugh, how awful.

Not understanding the requirements of an assignment and getting extremely unhelpful responses from the teacher. And suspecting from her response (particularly addressing me as "Jasmine" when she knows I go by Jas) that your confusion and attempt at seeking clarification is making a bad impression, made especially sucky by the fact you quite like the teacher... *sigh*
