Now, on to the deep stuff.
After arguing with an idiot theist, i had an epiphany about the 'it's a choice to be gay' thing.
It goes like this:
For your standard christian bigot, being attracted to your own sex HAS to be a choice.
If it wasn't, then it would be no more 'wrong' to be gay, than it would be to have red hair.
There is no wrongness attached to how you were born, it's not your fault.
And 'god' would be responsible for making you that way.
We've already decided that being gay is wrong, it fits with our prejudices (icky!) and our teachings.
And god can do nothing wrong.
Therefore god didn't do it.
Therefore you did, because there's only you and god in this story.
Therefore it has to be your fault.
Therefore you 'chose' to be gay.
Keep in mind, there's no experimental data to back this up, just logic and speculation.
But i think it's pretty solid.
Even when you point it out to them in a really obvious way, they usually don't get it though.
'Fella, if it's a choice, you should be able to decide to be gay, right now. Try it.'
Yeah, that usually gets ignored.
Anyone else run into this?
