That was adorable. Let me just say, adorable.

Willow stood so quickly she got tangled up in the blanket she had wrapped around herself in an effort to fight off her need to snuggle. She fought with the covers and they persisted in tightening their grip until she stood in the middle of the room, looking defeated and wrapped to her neck in a twisted blanket. She sighed.

Feedback Whore gobbles up praise!!

Postby Willowfan » Sun Aug 18, 2002 4:52 pm

Snuggle79-They are cute. I am hoping to do more cuteness...and then...well, you'll see.

MissQuirky-Well, Willow didn't want to push. Even when Tara TOLD her to come to bed, she was petrified.

Xita-I tried to word that exact part perfectly, so it painted the perfect image. Looks like I did, thanks for liking it:)

More to come soon...I hope...it's at the beta now, and she'll tell me if it's good;)

So....TBC....

“Woman enough to admit it,” Willow agreed with a nod and a sad half-smile.

Little update

Postby Willowfan » Fri Aug 30, 2002 6:38 am

Hello kittens! Sorry it's taken so long, but I just started school again and it is going to be a bit a bit of a wait between updates. But I promise, they will keep coming:)

And so without further ado, or adon't 's here it is! (hehehe...I kill me....)

************************************************************************

The sun rose lazily in the morning sky, inching higher and higher up the bed, much to Willow’s frustration. Once it hit Tara’s closed eyes, the blonde would open them. And when she opened them, they would get up. And once they got up, she wouldn’t have Tara snuggles anymore. Willow pouted. “I want my snuggles, darn it.” She said quietly.

The blonde next to her smiled in her sleep. “M’kay…” she muttered, rubbing her hand across Willows tight stomach.

Willow squeaked. She hadn’t meant to talk out loud. But the sensation of surprise and trepidation were quickly being replaced with arousal and a sense of need. She bit her bottom lip to keep from crying out as Tara’s hand slowly mapped the contours of Willow’s stomach and sides. When they had memorized the lay of the land, they sought new roads…and headed north. Willow sighed as her eyes rolled back in her head.

Tara sighed as she felt the soft swell beneath her palm and gently caressed the flesh. “Willow.” She hissed, kissing Willow’s neck, still in a foggy sleep.

Willow whimpered as Tara cupped her breast and then proceeded to kiss her neck. Tara hadn’t forgotten any of the things that Willow loved. In fact, she was very quickly running down the list as Willow’s breathing deepened.

Tara slowly opened her eyes and smiled as she felt her Willow next to her…her Willow…her Willow’s breast. Tara froze. "Ummm…sorry.” she mumbled, starting to pull away from Willow.

“Hey…you don’t hear me complaining.” The redhead smiled. “Being fondled in my sleep by beautiful blue eyed blondes is a fantasy of mine.” She smiled.

Tara propped herself up in an elbow and stared at Willow. “So…you dream of beautiful blondes?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Willow’s smile fell quickly as she backpedaled. “No…I mean…yes, you…only you.” She shook her head. “Only Taradreams…no other blondes.” She said decisively.

Tara nodded. “Uh-huh.” She pursed her lips. “So…other brunettes…redheads?” she was enjoying tormenting Willow. The hacker was squirming.

“What? No…baby no…only you. I love you, I swear…I…I don’t even look at other girls…well, except for Buffy…and Dawnie…and occasionally Anya.” She frowned, then jerked her head back up. “Oh! But not like that…I mean, that I see them…with my eyes…and that they are friends, and I see friends with my eyes…I…” she sighed and looked at Tara, a tear rolling down her face. “I see you with my heart.” She said softly, reaching out and touching the girls cheek.

Tara was speechless. She hadn’t meant to cause a full-blown Willowpanic. And what the hacker had said…”R-really? With your heart?” she asked softly.

Willow nodded. “I see you with my heart and soul…and sometimes, I think I don’t deserve to know someone so beautiful, and perfect…and it hurts.” Willow looked down. “It hurts me when I think of what I did to you. Of what I did to us.”

Tara felt tears stinging her eyes as she scooted closer to Willow. “Baby…that’s the past. We’re here now. And I love you…I never stopped.” She cupped Willow’s cheek. “So please…look at me now.” She asked softly.

Willow looked up and her throat tightened. Tara was so beautiful. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, Willow would just stare at the blonde and she missed that. Just looking. She gazed into her blue eyes and saw complete and total love and devotion there. She cried, reaching out tentatively, unsure if she was able to touch the angel there. Afraid that if she did, the image would fade and she would be alone again.

Tara gathered Willow into her arms and held the redhead as she cried. She finally broke down and felt the tears work their way down her cheeks as well. “I love you, my Willow.” She whispered, gently stroking Willow’s hair. “You’re home.”

Willow settled into Tara’s arms, sniffling and holding the blonde close. “Yay.” She said softly.

Tara smiled. “Now…I do believe someone asked for snuggles?” she raised an eyebrow.

Willow grinned. “I thought you were asleep…but hey, never one to turn down Tara snuggles.” She said, sighing and happy just to hold her girlfriend.

Tara grinned. “Good…cause I want snuggles too.” She kissed Willow softly, her lips pressing gently into the redhead’s.

Willow felt her heart race and her flesh heat at Tara’s touch and knew that today was simply going to be the best day of her life.

Then, there was a knock at the door.

Tara growled, looking at the door as if she was trying to will the intruder away. But the knock came again, and louder this time. Tara looked over at Willow, who was pouting.

“Ok…Buffy’s timing sucks.” She said, untangling herself from Tara.

Tara nodded in agreement. Standing and slipping into a robe, she smiled and shrugged at Willow. “Yeah…but maybe she brought mochas?” she grinned as Willow’s face lit up.

Tara opened the door a bit and looked into the hallway, expecting to see Buffy standing there. Instead she saw a tall, dark haired young man smiling back at her. Self consciously pulling the top of her robe tighter together she greeted him. “H-hello…may I help you?” she asked.

Jason smiled seeing the blonde there. “Yes…my name is Jason Moorlon.” He extended his hand, and then retracted it quickly when he saw Tara holding her robe shut. “I apologize for waking you, but I was wondering…are you Tara Maclay?” he asked.

Tara nodded. “Y-yes I am…do I know you?” she shook her head, feeling drawn to him. There was something nagging her, in the back of her mind…something about him was familiar.

Jason sighed. “No…well, I doubt you would remember.” He said softly, looking down.

Willow, in the meantime, had gotten dressed when she heard it was not Buffy at the door.

Crossing the room, she stood behind Tara, peeking over her shoulder. “Who’s this?” she asked, smiling at Jason.

Jason extended his hand. “I am Jason Moorlon.” He said, taking Willow’s hand.

Willow smiled, taking Jason’s hand when all of the sudden, she felt it. Darkness…dark magicks. He was absolutely seething with dark energy.

Willow’s face went pale and she drew her hand back quickly. “Tara…we need to go…now.” She said softly, her eyes never leaving Jason’s. “We have to go get Buffy…we have…that thing.” She said, pulling on Tara’s arm.

Tara looked at Willow and then back at Jason, clearly puzzled. “Willow…what thing?” she asked.

Willow quickly shot Tara a look and then turned back to Jason. “Sorry…but we have to meet someone…in town…in public…so…see you later.” She closed the door and bolted it.

Tara stared at Willow with a shocked expression. “Willow…what on earth was that all about?” she asked in disbelief.

Willow picked up the phone and quickly dialed Buffy’s number. “That was a touch I am ashamed to say I know…” she was on the verge of a full blown panic attack. “That was one of the most powerful magic users I have ever felt…and it was all black, Tara…there was not a single drop of white magic in him.” She shook.

Buffy stumbled thru the hall and picked up the phone. Sighing Buffy started her usual tirade; "We'll pay you in four days…and if this is Double Meat Palace…no. I am sleeping in on my day off.” She muttered.

Willow spoke quickly. “Buffy…we need to get everyone to the Magic Box…like…now!” she said. “There is a bad guy on campus…I mean…evil with a capital E…V...I…L.” she said

Buffy rubbed her eyes and yawned. “Ok Will…what time?” she asked. Still waking up.

“As soon as we can all get there…this is an emergency!” she said, trying to spark more from Buffy.

“M’kay…I’ll call Xander…Anya will be happy to open early…I just hope they aren’t having ‘morning orgasm time’” she mocked Anya.

Willow nodded and hung up the phone, turning to Tara. She started to speak and then got a very disturbed look on her face. Picking up the phone, she yelled into the mouthpiece. “Ewww…visual place now, thank you!”

************************************************************************

TBC- I will do personal thank you's as soon as I can...right now....I'm late:)

See you next time,

Re: update

Hey there....got another update for you:)

Enjoy,

Willowfan:)

************************************************************************

Putting the phone back down she looked at Tara, who was staring at her patiently. “Ok…we have to go…like now.” She hurried around the room, gathering clothes and handing them to Tara as she sped from one side to the next. “Cause…he was bad…a very, very bad person and we need to leave.”

Tara smiled as Willow raced around the room. It was like watching an acted out version of Willowbabble.

Willow stopped and looked at Tara, shaking her head. “Why aren’t you getting dressed?” she asked. “Was there something about ‘Bad man…we have to leave’ that I was unclear on?” she asked.

Tara smiled and held up a long skirt and sweater. “Well…first…the skirt is yours…I can’t fit…and second…what is going on?” she asked, grinning at Willow.

Willow sighed and took her skirt. “I guess I grabbed your pant’s then huh?” she asked, looking down at the beige cargos, cinched at the waist and fastened with a belt. “That guy…I felt something in him I remember from…” she looked adown. “Well…from after you left me.”

Tara walked up and placed her hand under Willow’s chin, lifting her head until she was looking into the teary green eyes. “What is it Willow? Please…tell me.” She said softly.

Willow looked into Tara’s eyes and sighed. “You might want to sit down…and if you want to throw stuff, could you aim for the body and not my head…cause I kinda need to full brain power for school.” She said, trying to make a joke.

Tara smiled and moved to the bed to sit. She saw Willow moving for the desk and held out her hand. “No…come here…with me.” She scooted up against the headboard and opened her arms.

Willow climbed into bed and leaned into Tara, letting the blonde’s arms envelop her. “I don’t want to tell you this…it’s so awful…I don’t want you to see what I became.” She said, tears forming in her eyes.

Tara held the redhead and started running her fingers through Willows hair. “I want to understand what happened Willow. Please…let me in.” she said softly.

Willow sighed. “It started when I turned Amy back into a human…she took me to him.” Willow shuddered. “His name was Rack…” Willow began the tale of her experience with the Dark Sorcerer.

1 Hour Later

Tara held Willow as she sobbed. She could hardly believe the tale the redhead had spun. She felt so awful…so ashamed for leaving the girl to face…that… alone.

Willow was shaking as the great, heaving sobs wracked her body. She felt so dirty…so ashamed. Tara now knew everything. About Amy and the Bronze, about the first visit with Rack…and what she did to Dawnie. And Rack’s ‘Look Around’. Willow slowly sat up, turning to stand. “I’ll go now…” she muttered.

Tara looked at the hacker in confusion. “Where? The Magic Box?” she started to stand as well, grabbing another pair of pants. “I forgot all about them.”

Willow looked at Tara. “I…I thought…after…” she stammered.

Tara looked at Willow with complete adoration. “Willow…I love you…I will always love you.” She walked around the bed and pulled the redhead to her. “No matter what happened or happens…I love you.”

She said softly. She gently shifted from side to side, feeling Willow breath. Her heart ached seeing her cry. She had done awful things, hurt her friends and family.

Willow broke into another fit of tears. She looked at Tara, her eyes wet with fresh tears. The usual bright green that Tara fell in love with was dull and tired. “I…I’m sorry Tara…I feel so dirty…so ashamed…” she said, her voice trembling. She spent her time looking down and finding the hem of her shirt suddenly very interesting. She was ashamed, and she couldn’t look at Tara. She couldn’t look into those blue eyes and see the disgust she knew had to be there. Willow felt so dirty, so grimy that she couldn’t even look at the woman she loved.

So she looked around the room. She noticed a lot of boxes. The ones Tara used to move out of the house with. They were still stacked against the wall…some open, some still shut tightly. It was two months and she hadn’t yet unpacked.

Tara shushed Willow, stroking her hair red lightly. She could feel her heart swell each time she held the redhead. Everything else in the world seemed to dissolve until there was only Willow. The redhead felt so perfect in her arms.

Willow felt the soft silk of Tara’s robe and savored it. Everything about Tara was soft…everything was right. Her golden hair was baby soft, and always smelled like peaches. A gentle scent she had found by accident, and used ever since. Willow always loved the scent Tara left behind. It was summer, and magical, and so utterly Tara.

Sometimes, Willow would sit and hold a dress or sweater that belonged to Tara. She would close her eyes and pretend that she hadn’t lost everything in her life that mattered.

And in especially dark times when the withdrawals from her addiction got particularly bad and she couldn’t do anything but convulse she would wrap one of Tara’s sweaters around her and she would be able to sleep…for awhile. And she would dream of Tara. See her eyes, so full of love and patience. She would hear Tara’s voice saying that she was loved. She would feel the silky soft touch of her hand as it would graze across her hand.

Each vision would add a little more to her resolve, each scent would help to strengthen her will to resist the pull. She hadn’t done any magic for over two months now. Every step, every agonizing inch she made was due to Tara. Tara was the focus of her will, Tara was the reason for what she did. Tara was what she wanted to win back. Magic be damned.

Tara held her love and cried, salty tears falling down her cheek as she actually felt Willows small frame take a shuddering breath. She hated it when Willow cried; the woman was so full of love and in love with life. Everything was amazing to the hacker, and Tara found that to be one of Willow’s most enduring traits.

The way her eyes would sparkle when she made a break thru in research, or when she would bounce with a new bit of information. Tara loved everything about Willow…except seeing her cry.

Tara would give anything to take Willow’s pain from her, to make it just go away. All she could do was hold the redhead, squeeze her gently and rock her. Tara whispered words of love and devotion into Willow’s ear. She caressed Willows back, trying to soothe away the pain that Willow had held inside for so long.

To think Willow was hurting so badly, and that she was so drawn to darkness, and she gave all of that up. Just to be with her. Tara swallowed. ‘How did I become so important, momma?’ Tara asked silently. ‘I’m just me…how does that make a difference?’ she wondered.

After all, Buffy was the slayer, and Willow was…well, a genius. Anya was an ex demon and a font of knowledge. Even Xander. He was brave, funny and he kept everyone going when situations were grim. She was just. “I’m just me.” Tara said softly.

Willow pulled back and looked at Tara. She stared into Tara’s eyes and saw so much love there, it made her heart skip a beat. It never changed. Every time she saw Tara, Willow’s breath stopped short and she gasped in wonder of the angel before her.

“You are so much more.” Willow wiped her eyes. “Baby, you’re my everything. I was so lost…I thought of how I hurt you and it was killing me. I was so awful.” She cried.

Tara smiled gently, melting Willow with the half smile that had first captured the hacker. Tarasmile, Willow had named it. “But you…you’re so smart, and beautiful…” she said softly.

“So smart I almost lost the most perfect woman in the world?” Willow asked. “You are so much to me…to everyone.” She sniffled. “Dawnie misses you so much…and one morning, Buffy tried to make pancakes…and almost burnt the house down. And Xander…he misses you to, but he can’t say anything because Anya would hit him. And Anya…she says I got rid of her best friend…” she wailed, sobbing on Tara’s shoulder again.

Tara held the redhead closer. “I’m just me…I’m not t-that special…”

Willow mumbled into Tara’s shoulder and the blonde smiled. “What?” Tara asked.

Willow pulled away and looked at Tara. “You’re essential…you’re everything…to me…”

Tara hugged the redhead closer to her, squeezing her gently. Willow was back…her Willow. And nothing was ever going to take her away again.

Just got all caught up!! In ur previous update w/ Will tryin to explain she dreams only bout Tara, it was funny! So very very bad guy Rack is out n about. Lookin 4 Tara...hmm! I'm thinkin Rack probably felt somethin too when he touched Wills hand, like Will did!

Tara will alwayz love Willow! I'm glad they got that covered in this update! :) I'm also glad Will told Tara bout Rack and everything!

Can't wait 4 more!! :)

No no...Jason isn't Rack...Willow was just saying she remembers what it feels like to be touched by someone as powerful in black magic, BECAUSE of rack. Jason could squish rack like a grape....a smooshy grape that needs...well...squishing.

Sorry if that was confusing.....Jason isn't Rack...

That sounds like something Tara would say, especially since she went from being a shy and isolated girl, to being the heart of the Scoobies. Great stuff!

You do a great job with the characters – very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to more! Thanks! :)

Love how tangible the description of how Willow used Tara's love to keep her going through the addiction was. Emphasis on scent and touch. Quite lovely.

"I’m just me." My heart went out to Tara, she still doesn't appreciate what a wonderful person she is. And Willow still has the self-hatred from using the magics, and losing her girl. But together, they'll overcome their fears, right?

New Chapter!!

Postby Willowfan » Mon Sep 23, 2002 8:50 am

Buffy paced back and forth. The large round table was laden with books and Xander looked piteously at the stack. “And Will’s didn’t say what kind of evil it was?” he whined.

Buffy just shook her head. She looked at the clock and then her watch again. “She didn’t.” she mumbled, pulling at her sweater. She knew she shouldn’t have left them alone.

Xander nodded. “Uh-huh…so we’re looking to what…beat all the evil in the world?” he asked, looking again at the great stack of books in front of him.

Buffy turned and managed a small grin. “So I panicked…I get a call at six am from Willow saying emergency meeting and that there was a new evil.” Buffy smiled. “Ok…I panicked a lot…I don’t do this research stuff.”

Xander smiled, running his hands thru his hair. “No big Buff…we all panic sometimes.” He reached for a book and began reading. “So…any idea what we are looking for?” he asked without looking up, a hint of laughter in his voice.

Buffy threw a pillow she was holding at him. Xander took the hit and grinned. “I was just wondering, cause there is a lot of evil here.”

The familiar jingle of the door’s bell made both of the friends look up from their battle. Willow led Tara into the store and hurried to the table. “Wow…” she said while looking thru the books. “Buffy panic again?” she asked Xander.

Xander smiled. “Yep…our Buff was panic gal.” He said, still reading.

Buffy threw her hands up and moved next to Tara, looking for some support. “Well...she wasn’t very forthcoming with the information…Tara…what’s up?” she asked the blonde.

Tara smiled and looked at Buffy. “Um…well…prepared is good.” She said softly. Looking at Willow she silently asked the redhead to proceed.

“Well…it’s a warlock…very dark and very powerful.” Willow said.

“Rack?” Buffy moved next to willow and rested her hand on the hackers elbow, knowing first hand what Willow had gone thru trying to get away from him. If he was back, she was sure as hell going to introduce the warlock to what a slayer could do.

Willow shook her head. “No…not Rack…him I can handle. This was powerful Buffy…Hellmouth powerful. I have never felt that kind of power before…ever.”

Buffy looked at the pile on the table. “I don’t suppose I pulled any of the right books, did I?” she asked.

Willow looked down at the table and then up to the rafters behind the large table. The section on all the most dangerous magical things known to man was up there. She shook her head softly, her eyes locked on the ladder.

Tara moved to Willow’s side and rested her hand on the redheads shoulder. “Baby?”

Willow took Tara’s hand in her own, feeling the warmth and softness. “I…up there…it’s up there. It’s a large book, ‘Warlocks and their powers’. Corny I know, but it was started as a way for witches to counter their dark magic. Maybe we can find something in there.” She said softly.

Buffy moved to the ladder and began to climb. “I got it Wills. Grab a mocha and a chair. We’ll figure this out.”

As Buffy started to look around for the tome, the door’s bell chimed again and Jason stepped into the shop. He slowly closed the door and locked it, flipping the sign around and turned to look at the assembled group.

Willow moved in front of Tara, holding the blonde behind her. “Get out of here…you aren’t welcome.” She snarled.

Jason smiled softly and waved his hand. Willow was lifted off of the ground and moved to the side, giving the warlock a clear view of Tara. “Tara…please…we must talk.” He said softly.

Jason’s advance was halted when a hand axe spun thru the air and embedded in the floor, between Jason’s legs.

Jason stopped and looked up, seeing Buffy slide down the rails and land on the floor. She stood and stalked up, interposing herself between Tara and Jason.

“Anything you have to say to Tara, you can say to me first.” Buffy folded her arms across her chest and narrowed her eyes dangerously.

Willow ran over and stood firmly next to Buffy. Even Xander stood and moved up beside his friends. He liked Tara. She was always ready to listen to anything he had to say, no matter how mundane. She treated him with respect and he had to admit, she was special. Plus, he made Willow happy. That was really all he needed to know. If the warlock wanted to harm her, he'd do so over Xander's lifeless husk.

Jason raised an eyebrow at the people in front of him. “I need to speak with Tara…please, it is very important.” He said evenly.

Willow took a step forward. “Well…you can’t. So there.” She said quickly before falling back beside Buffy.

“That’ll get him…good job Will.” Xander gave her a thumbs up.

Willow frowned at Xander and then turned her attention back to Jason.

Jason sighed. “I assure you…I mean Tara no harm. In fact, I mean to help her attain her full potential. Please, Tara, one spell. It’s all I ask.” He pleaded.

Tara took a step back, behind Buffy and the circle of scoobies. Buffy stepped forward and raised an eyebrow. “If you like time in the hospital and are particularly fond of body casts, then by all means, keep coming forward.” She narrowed her eyes dangerously.

Jason shook his head. “Very well…the hard way then.” He said softly. Waving his hand he sent Xander, Buffy and Willow sprawling against the front counter of the Magic Box while he approached Tara.

Buffy was the first to recover, jumping quickly to her feet and running towards Jason. Raising her fist, she meant to deliver a punch that would incapacitate him quickly. But she never landed her punch.

Striking like a coiled snake, a black tendril of magical energy speared thru Buffy’s chest, raising her into the air. She felt cold and numb, her senses reeling as she hung, limp and puppet like in the air. Jason slowly turned.

“Slayer...I have no quarrel with you and yours. Please, do not make this harder on yourselves.” He said softly to Buffy, lowering her to the ground. That’s when it hit him, and he no longer had any doubts.

The magical blast, centered in his back, came from behind him…from Tara. Jason flew across the shop, slamming hard into the wall and knocking over the recently acquired display of candles. Sliding to the ground, Jason turned to face his assailant.

Tara stood protectively over Buffy, shielding the shaking and semi conscious slayer. She had never before faced magic on this level, but she couldn’t let Buffy or anyone else be hurt because of her. She didn’t know where the blast came from, all she felt when she saw Jason lash out was pure energy, coursing thru her body. She threw it at him and stood, marveling at how he flew across the store. But he was back up now, smiling and wiping his lip.

“It is you…and all of you have no reason to fear me, for she is who I believed.” He smiled. Raising his hand, Jason built a pool of fire in his palm, using the darkest forces at his command it grew to the size of a basketball. Looking at Tara, he smiled. “One spell?” he asked again.

Tara thrust her jaw out defiantly and shook her head. Jason sighed.

“You must trust me Tara…I mean you no harm.” He said softly.

Willow scrambled to her feet, running to Tara’s side. “Big talk from the guy with the flaming ball!” she shouted, clutching Tara behind her.

Jason shook his head. “And you. Willow, was it?” he asked. Waving his hand, willow was lifted gently into the air and deposited behind the counter. “And stay.” He said when she made a run for Tara again. She froze in place, unable to move her legs.

Jason looked at Tara. “As I said…the hard way then.” He said, throwing the fireball at Tara.

Tara barely had time to react when the ball of flame hit her in the chest, exploding in a muted roar as the flame washed over her skin.

“No!!!” Willow screamed and tried to break free of the spell.

Xander just looked on, horrified as he felt the waves of heat redden his skin from across the room.

Bloody Jason, he could have asked nicely. He wants Tara's help so he threatens and assaults her and her friends?

I have confidence in Tara though, she was able to fend off his first attack after all. Nope, not worried, not me!

When we last left our heros...Jason chucked a fireball at Tara.....THAT can ruin a girls day, huh? On with the show...

**********************************************

Willow watched in horror as the fireball exploded against Tara. She screamed, pain lancing like a knife thru her heart. The rage she felt surpassed everything but the grief as she centered everything on the binding spell holding her. “Shatter.” She said, her voice booming and echoing as she drew on power she should never know about. Instantly, the binding spell dissipated and she was free.

Willow rushed around the counter, tears streaming down her face. The fire burned and crackled, raging hot and loud in her path. “TARA!!” she screamed, her soul reaching thru the ether for it’s other half. Willow felt like there was a large weight on her chest, all the air rushed out of her lungs and she couldn’t breath. Pain, indescribable pain, racked her body and sent her senses reeling.

Then…contact. Willow felt her. The light , the love, the calm energy that was Tara. She felt it…and her soul rejoiced. “Tara?” she whispered tentatively, staring at the rolling wall of flame. The fire raged, consuming everything in it’s path.

The Tome of G’Navis. A comprehensive study on the feeding habits and patterns of a nasty group of demons. The Diaries of Seraveth. A former Pit Lord and one of the more powerful Ancient Deities…who knew he was also an accomplished author and poet. A statuette of Diana, blessed with a small spell that would bring the owner good fortune…not a lot, just enough to make a bad day a little better. Several candles, ancient scrolls and a particularly gruesome mask that Anya had once referred to as “quaint”. Bit by bit, each was consumed by the rapidly spreading inferno. One by one, the fire crawled over their surface, lapping hungrily at the yellowed, brittle, dry pages. But inside the inferno, inside the roaring cacophony of flame, Willow felt an unmistakable presence. She felt Tara.

Xander had struggled to his feet, coughing and staring wide eyed at the wall of fire. He felt his blood run cold and his throat constrict, as he knew that the wall of fire was in the exact spot Tara had been standing.

He also knew that nothing could survive that. Tara was dead. This stranger had entered their lives and shattered them. Xander no longer cared that this…person…had just entered the store, tossed everyone around like rag dolls and immolated one of the select few people he had ever truly cared about.

Without pausing, without thinking and acting solely on terror born rage, Xander rushed at Jason. Somewhere deep inside of him, something had broken. Tapping into a primal force, Xander threw a punch that would have made Buffy proud. Grim satisfaction coursed thru him a she felt his fist solidly connect with Jason’s jaw, bone crunching beneath his punch.

For his part, Jason barely noticed it. Looking at Xander, Jason smiled. “Be still…watch…learn.” He said softly, waving his hand. Black tendrils of energy snaked from Jason’s fingertips and wrapped themselves around Xander, holding him tightly and anchoring him to the floor. Xander stared in mute horror as the flame burned. “Oh god…Willow…” he muttered, tears rolling down his cheek.

In each generation, there is a chosen one. One girl in all the world…blah, blah, blah. Buffy winced in pain, her left arm numb from the impact. She vaguely remembered fire, and Tara throwing her across the room. “Great…I have a concussion…” she muttered, shaking her head.

She had always wanted a normal life, to be a normal girl with normal fears. What to wear the first day of school, who likes me and who doesn’t…what to wear to the prom…all of the things a teenage girl should be afraid of. Crazy, super powered warlocks throwing fireballs at her friends should never come into any normal picture.

She rose, unsteadily, and stared at the blaze. Willow was focused on the flame, Xander was wrapped in black energy and the warlock was smiling stupidly at the spectacle. Sudden realization hit Buffy as she stared at the flames. “Oh god…Tara.” She whispered in horror, shaking her head. Buffy narrowed her eyes and grabbed a short sword kept strapped behind the counter. Feeling the finely etched metal rest easy in her hand, she turned her gaze on the warlock. She was the slayer. The one girl in all the world, chosen to fight the darkness and protect the innocent. Chosen to protect people like Tara. Glancing at the inferno, she felt a tear slip down her cheek for the shy Wiccan she considered her friend. She couldn’t help Tara now, but the warlock would not harm another of her friends if Buffy could help it. With three steps and a single swing of her sword, Buffy would make sure he never hurt another living soul again.

Tara was dead, and Buffy knew it was wrong to kill a human…but somehow, right now…she didn’t much care. Hefting the sword, Buffy took the first two steps down a path from which there was no coming back. ‘Two down, one to go.’ She thought bitterly. That’s when Willow cried out.

“Tara!” Willow screamed, raising her arms to protect her face when she took a step towards the wall of flame. She felt her. Her spirit, her energy. Willow saw the flame, felt the heat and smelt the charring wood and still she felt it. “Tara, baby?” she called out. She never expected what she saw next.

Like an old movie using bad special effects, the gathered group watched as the flames began to crawl backwards. Moving towards the center of the inferno, it rippled over the ancient scrolls. It moved backwards over the melted wax and brittle, yellowed text.

All were restored, showing no signs of damage. Slowly the flame collapsed, pulling in on itself and shrinking further and further. The flame was dragged down from the blackened wooden beams and they were restored, the wallpaper didn’t even hold a scorch. It moved down the shocked form of the blonde wiccan, pulling and hissing as if alive. Coalescing in her right hand, the flame writhed and Tara covered it with her left hand.

Looking up at Jason, Tara’s eyes were pure white and glowing with eldritch might. She blinked once, and her eyes restored to their original soft blue. Opening her hand, Tara smiled softly as a butterfly flitted into the air, wafting gently above their heads and ascending to the rafters, looking for a way out.

Jason nodded and took a step forward. “As I said Tara…we need to talk.”

Tara looked at him and her eyes got wide. Jason, so intent on the blonde witch, never saw Buffy move. He didn’t see the sword slicing neatly thru the air, arching with deadly accuracy towards his neck with all of the strength, rage and skill of a slayer put into the swing.

boooo hiiissssss.... Cliffhangers have to go :bounce

I for one wouldn't care much if Jason was killed really, it's not like the world would end without him around. I am kinda concerned about Willow though, Tara (obviously) wasn't harmed much by the fire but Willow tried/did shield her from some of it using waaay to much power.

Now can we kill this Jason already, getting tired of his selfish behaviour. :evil . Besides, if Tara uses that ritual to kill Jason she herself will be killed in the process... which is most definitly not good. (and still sounds like a stupid punishment spell, on the white-witch part.. punishing yourself that way)

Heh, I don't like Jason very much can you tell ?? :D

Grimlock72- Really? You don't like Jason? I...I didn't notice.:) And Willow didn't do a thing to protect Tara....Tara did all that on her own. Let me sneak in a small spoiler here....

Jason and Tara are matched in power. Equal. They are balanced in every way, and their magic's are perfectly attuned. When Willow and Tara combine their magic, the sum is greater than it's parts....when/if Tara and Jason ever combine their's....Willow and Tara's will pale in comparison.

And the punishment was to the warlocks...the coven that made the Guardian thought the punishment was to severe, so they imbued one with the power to match, counter and harmonize with his...one who could ease the pain, to begin with, and maybe, hopefully, someday, teach their children to use magic and not let magic use them.

More will be explained in the next chapters...a lot more:)

Trust me;)

Oh I missed an update. Bad Molly.

I really liked Xander and Buffy's reactions when they thought Tara had died. It makes sense they would be hurt by this, being friends of Tara's, and knowing that she is the love of Willow's life! Thanks for that.

Oh oh... this reply was shorter in my mind, honestly :)

Let me see if I get this right;

- Witches beat Warlocks

- Witches design a punishment for said Warlocks

- for some reason other Witches deem that punishment to severe and they select a volunteer from their own to counterbalance the punished warlock. (proving there is such a thing as being too compasionate)

What is the point of that ? Who signed Tara up for warlock-duty anyway ? Why should Tara do anything for Jason at all (besides her beeing way to kind to other people) ?

Ah, found it finally:

Quote:
Any day now she would have to release the spell that would transfer all the power he wielded into his son. She would have to channel such energy that she would sacrifice herself in the process.

See, I knew there was a reason I didn't want Tara to do a spell for Jason . I don't know if Jason wants that spell at the moment, I just don't see any reason for Tara to do anything for Jason, esp. not magic.

Stay far, FAR away of him... (unless some horribly convenient monster shows up for which a huge amount of magic is needed to defeat it, that would be kinda too obvious though). Tara herself doesn't really want/crave power all that much anyway.

Why transfer that power in the first place ? Let the father die with all his power in him and be done with it. If Tara does such a transfer-spell she dies. If Jason dies, Tara *might* die.... guess which option I like best.

Besides, currently Jason is killing lotsa Vampires, nothing wrong with that surely ? Let him kill all the vampires he likes and die a happy warlock, see if I care.

Of course it would have been smarter if the coven had destroyed all that power instead of concentrating it into one warlock....:) It's not entirely fair to Jason either, but for some reason my concern is more with Tara :D .

Jason seems to need something from Tara for sure, but offers nothing in return. Nothing Tara wants or needs anyway.

Hmm...based on what you just wrote; (T+W) > J ... interesting math... verrry interesting

Enough rambling about mr. Evil Warlock already...
