Ah, more pictures. Wonderful. I love how you capture their innate femininity but yet the wonderful shapes of their bodies. And the atmosphere of each picture really speaks. You have a marvelous talent.

Oh Kyan another beautiful sketch! I look at this sketch, and you captured so vividly that scene in SC with VW trying to float the stake in Tara's apartment. Really the sketch is so expressive, with the look on concentration on Willow's face, with Tara transfixed on the scene before her. Well done!

Ok so I went to you site and I was wowed! Whoa! You have some serious talent. I am going to agree and say that catnip and willowhand are the top individual pictures there, you nailed it. Excellent. All the w/t pics are great but the expressions on sexy are just perfect, and even the gentle hand on willow's shoulder, wow. You have also outdone yourself with Tara's eyes, the shape and the shading give them that look that her eyes have... awesome!

Also, floating the pencil, what a great scene that was now wonderfully illustrated by you.

KyanWing... loved the floating stake sketch, but I was knocked over by the pics on your website.

It's incredible the way you capture them right down to the expression in the eyes.

Wonderful

Oh I just saw the pictures from your site, they are truly amazing. Very well done, I love your use of shadow in the Willowhand pic (and in the others as well), not easy, you have captured their features perfectly and conveyed their emotions in these pics *and* you made one of THE coat, bless you. :grin

KyanWing these are all really, really good. There is alot of talent behind those pics on your site. I have just started reading the fic that resulted in the thread and can't wait to find the parts that you have drawn so well in your original drawings.

Thankyou.

A mighty big thank you to everyone who has visited my web site Floating Pencil the last couple of days. I've got notices from geocities that the site has been shut down temporarily a couple of times because it exceeded some datatransfer limit... That sucks, but then it's also very wow! My apologies to everyone who clicked on the link but went nowhere :-(

I just updated my site with a couple of Vampire Willow pictures. I never thought I'd enjoy drawing a bumpy forehead this much ;-)

Here are the links:

www.geocities.com/stllr/w_vampire.html

www.geocities.com/stllr/w_vampire2.html

tommo: You say such nice things. I want to hug you. Thank you so much :-)))

VampNo12: It was really nice drawing this scene, playing it out from different angles. Thank you for telling me I did well. Especially now that I'm struggling with the next scene. I appreciate that. Thank you :-)))

Zahir al Daoud: How could you! ;-) Thank you for your kind words. More SC scenes on the way and soon, I hope. :-)))

xita: Thank you for your wonderful praise :-))) I'm glad you enjoyed my work. I hope you like the new Vampire Willow pictures.

Katharyn: Thank you for visiting my site. I'm glad you had a good time :-))) Come back right now. I have posted Vampire Willow pictures!

DrG: Bedankt voor je lieve woorden :-)))

Shading is tricky. It can work miracles on a sketch or work up a big mess for my trusty and ever shrinking eraser to work away or not... And you see, it's a special Buffy eraser. She slays the big bad mistakes and turn them into eraser dust! :-D

Yes, the coat *lol* I've seen some pictures of Amber Benson's public appearances. She is very fond of that coat *grin*

Chewster: I'm happy you enjoyed the pictures on my site and that you've started reading SC. It's a really incredible story. I think it's addictive, too! ;-)

Thank you :-)))

KyanWing - Contrary to popular belief (and perhaps credulity) I am not a huge VW fan... that said these pictures of her. Wow. As with the others on your site they are like looking a photo. A photo with pencil - but a photo none the less. You capture the characters so well.

Jealous now.

Postby KyanWing » Sat Aug 24, 2002 5:07 am

Katharyn: When I was working on these pictures I started wondering how little or if any of real Willow is in there.

I also found I like sketching VW because unusual shading (shading as if the light hits her face from below) makes her look better (scarier and more evil). But that aside, VW in SC is only not so bad because of Tara's presence.

Thank you for your nice comments :-)))

See, I've always wanted to be able to draw, but I don't have an artistic bone in my body. Heh. I have this kind of awed admiration for anyone who can create such beauty with a pencil. I went to your site and I was amazed at the fantastic pictures you've posted there; your drawings are truly breathtaking. I think my favorite one was the one with Willow and Miss Kitty; the catnip scene. You get Willow's face just so perfectly, and her smile...god, hardly anyone does her smile justice.

Beautiful, wonderful, amazing. I'm in awe. :)

Tommo: If I know you very well I would poke you right there where the artistic bones are located. You have at least one and more likely several more. I'm discovering them since I've just started reading Touchstone. I like the setting of the beginning. Our favourite couple in England. I'll comment further in your thread when I have read more :-)))

Thank you again for your kind words. You deserve many hugs for them. See, you draw beautifully with words and that's very artistic.

Oooh een landgenoot! Dat had ik me niet gerealiseerd, maar ja, je naam klinkt niet echt Nederlands, heh heh.

Translation: The weather sucks here doesn't it? :p

I know what you mean about shading and erasers, not my strong point, but then I am still a novice at drawing human portraits, unlike drawing furry subjects (no naughtiness implied). And that coat is legendary, I was lucky enough to go to London last year and see her wear it at a signing and during the Nocturnal, she even made a comment about it herself. The thing is so ugly it is beautiful, hee, and she looks gorgeous in it, but then, she looks gorgeous in anything.

I may not care for VampWillow, but you certainly captured her features perfectly as well, I really am in awe of your skills.

KyanWing, wow. I have just been looking at everything on your website, and...you are so talented. You evoke so much character in your drawings, especially in Tara and Willow's mouths. I don't know much about drawing, so I can't congratulate you on your technique (I don't know the proper terms or anything), but I just see so much feeling in the drawings. I especially loved the ones of Vamp Willow and Tara on the sofa and, on your website, of "Backlight" and "Sleep."

But thanks so much for sharing these. I know I will be going back to look at them again and again.

The sketches of VampWillow are amazing. I especially love "Snarl", you can see the predatory look in her eyes.

Hi all, sorry for the late response. Real life is giving me a thorough asskicking this days and it hurts... Reading your nice comments make me feel so much better! Thank you :-)))

DrG: Thank you for your kind words :-)))

You have to start somewhere. My first faces aren't much either, but I have a major head start on you ;-) I remember my first human portrait. I was about 8 or 9 and I drew my dad. There was actually some likeness in the drawing but he wasn't too happy about the ruby red lips I gave him *lol*

I envy you for having met Amber Benson! Wow! That rocks for sure!

Tulipp: Thank you for your nice comments and for checking out my other drawings.

The mouths are for me the hardest to do. In my earlier drawings I tend to keep them closed. That's very limiting. I'm still learning about the open mouth. I think Vampire Willow's mouth is the best I've done so far :-)

Don't worry about the proper terms or anything. I don't know much about that either and they make sketching sound so much like work for me ;-)

mollyig: Thank you! I had a hell of a time sketching "Snarl". I really like the wrinkles on her nose. It's actually not finished yet. I'm going to use red watercolour on her hair (the parts I left white). Now practising with the brush. I haven't used that in a while.

Lol about the lips. Actually I have been drawing for a long time, I am just not very productive, heh, ok so I am lazy, well anyway, you do have a headstart on me, drawing humans has been the biggest challenge for me, but with subjects like Willow and Tara it gets to be much fun. :grin

KyanWing, again I must say how talented you are... those sketches are beautiful. The newest Sidestep sketches capture Katharyn's fic perfectly (ie W&T becoming closer... W&T in the "light"). And also your other drawings are simply amazing (such vivid detail), thanks so much for sharing :) !

Kyan - I'd seen the couch one from the update you did but then I couldn;t figure why this thread had leapt up the page with no new post... Duh. I never noticed the update in teh first post so I was a little slow.

Sorry about that.

I love the hairbrushing one (I love all of them) it was a scene that I truly loved writing because I had just an image in my head of what I wanted and you have more than captured that image (which funniliy enough was like a drawing to me back then) and improved on it. I see it clearer now than I ever did then and thus you shape my reality.

The quality of your "quick" sketches is truly scarily good are the ones you take more time over better? Sure... But there is also something raw and showing feeling in the quicker ones that I like just as much.

Lots and lots of talent there

Katharyn

Thank you to all kittens for their wonderful responses to my drawings :-))) It's very much appreciated.

Also check out the first post later. I've another sketch ready, but I'm having some trouble uploading :-)))

xita: I'm so happy to be back!

Drawing W/T comes so much easier than VW/T... W/T is the real deal :-)

SJ: Thanks!

Mrs Vertigo: I'm glad you like them :-)

the big pineapple: Funning thing is that I've been trying to draw the big pineapple the other day *G* It's part of the stargazing on the porch scene... it didn't work out well but I'll keep working on it ;-)

Thank you for your kind words and please don't feel bad.

VampNo12: Thank you! It's great to see W&T becoming closer and that just set off a whole bunch of W&T pictures in my head... Which is great btw *G*

Tibbs: Thanks :-) I'm thinking about some new portraits but haven't drawn any yet. Right now I'm enjoying sketching SC W&T's very much.

Katharyn: I should have mentioned that the links are in the first post...

WOw! The hairbrushing one is exactly how I've pictured them when I was reading... Only difference is that the brush was a comb in my drawing. I suddendy thought about that and corrected myself.

Sometimes the quick ones are better and sometimes they improve by more work and sometimes I spoil them by more work... It's hard to decide when to stop... The one I've sketched today is another quickie ;-) The shading took most time.

The couch one actually came to mind because I liked that Tara sock in the hairbrushing pictures so much, I gotta draw Willow socks too ;-)

justin: Thank you :-) In a way the story took me there, so it's sort of an easy catch ;-)
