Rally - what more can I add? You've done it again. You are the pro. What's really cool is that when I heard 311 on 94.7 The Zone that I got to think of Amber/Tara and I thought of you and the Kitten board.

Thanks (again)!

Somewhere Out There

Postby maudmac » Mon Jun 24, 2002 2:44 am

Holy shit, Rally, this video is awesome! I never really was a big Our Lady Peace fan, but that so doesn't matter. This song is perfect for the purpose of this video.

The alignment of the images with the lyrics is just plain inspired.

This is the first video I've ever seen that made me cry. It jerks my emotions all over the place. The love, the loss. It really comes through like a tangible object in this video.

Brilliant work. Truly brilliant. It elicits strong feelings in the viewer. It does its job well.

I really hope to see you doing more like this. I love the happy ones and the silly ones. But videos like this, the ones like roller coasters, have a depth, a quality, that stays in my mind. They are substantial and moving; conveying the totality of Willow and Tara's life together in a way that the happy/silly ones simply can't.

I look forward to more of everything.

Somewhere Out There.

Hmm, this is a hard video to watch. All the best stuff and all the worst stuff were in there.

You make it kind of hard to say something new, ya know? You keep matching up the lyrics and the images so perfectly, and this vid is no exception. Really amazing. Made me cry. Very excellent. Just wow.

I really like the song, too. I watched the video then I just listened to the song, like, 3 times. Then I watched the video again.

I love this video. I can't say how often I'll watch it cause, y'know, painful, but it's really, really good. Thanks.

Holley and Kathy,

Thanks so much for your insights, I really appreciate you guys taking the time to give me such in depth points of view. I am going to get all babbly now, as I tend to do when talking vids. I like to think that the songs I choose dictate the mood of the video, but that is not always the case.

With Hero, I thought it would be more dark and it ended up somewhat upbeat. With Somewhere Out There, I could have easily ended it on an up note. However, it became more of a complete Willow Tara arc and that arc needed to be drawn out to the bitter end.

I am always glad to get an emotional response from my videos, if it's tears that is great. Somewhere Out There brought me to tears, and often I am very disconnected with my videos by the time they are finished. But any response is wonderful. I was able to show a few friends of mine from the Kitten board, I'm Too Sexy. It was really a blast listening to them laugh and getting those reactions first hand.

I suppose it's like Buffy this season, I want people to feel something. Whether it happens to be joy or humor or sadness, if I can get that reaction, then I have succeeded. I think in the end this is what feedback is all about, getting to folks and hearing those reactions.

So now I am in full ramble mode, so, anyhow, thanks again ladies.

Well officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

New Video - Save Yourself

Postby Rally » Wed Jun 26, 2002 2:09 am

Ok, hopefully these got up in one piece because my ISP is giving me hell tonight.

Song is Save Yourself by Sensefield, links at the top of the page.

Lets see a few other things before I get into this one, I removed a few mpg versions of earlier videos for server space. If you really need an mpg, email and beg me for it, but because of leeches from other boards and the rather expensive bandwidth bill I received this month... mpgs will be coming down quickly to make room for new videos. Until I get new space which I am looking into. So if you know a good, fast host with at least 75GB of bandwidth per month and 1GB of disk space, please let me know.

Video hmm, just did an Amber vid and this is very much an Aly vid. Lots of Aly / Will crying, lots of angst, I think. But overall, ya know, not so depressing I hope. I really feel I got to show how important the Buffy / Willow friendship used to be prior to season six. Maybe ME should take some notes.

In all fairness, this one is for Aly...

Rally, you've done it once again. Really turned out great and the Hush scene in the end worked wonderfully.

But here's where it shows that when an episode has W/T in it I don't notice anyone else. I just noticed, watching your vid, that when Oz leaves, he's wearing a city of Oz shirt. I just never noticed before, but your clips are so clear that I noticed it right away.

Once again wonderful job and I remain your faithful video whore.

Oh Rally I really liked this one, and to be honest even though there is a lot of Willow crying in it I did not find it depressing at all. Instead I found it incredibly hopeful. The idea that yes sometimes we do meet the wrong people and it feels right but the right person is still out there waiting. I thought this one was lovely. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it Lisa, I just keep cranking them out.

Liz, u such a ho. Seriously though, thanks for being my beta again.

Autumn, been missing you in this thread. There is a lot of Willow crying in this video but it is meant to be hopeful.

Though it was kind of depressing when I was making it. Typically clip about 3 minutes of footage for each clip (that ends up being about 5 seconds). So I end up watching entire scenes, even entire episodes in the video making process.

Plus I am just really really moody this week. Anyhow, thanks everyone.

I just watched Save Yourself; it was great, as all your videos are. I think that Somewhere Out There is still my favorite. I keep recommending it to people, and they ALL say the same thing, "oh...you mean...that song from that movie with that mouse?" And I say no, no, no. And please, I know you take requests, so here's a request. Never do a W/T video to that song from that movie about that mouse.

I could pop you all in the nose. That movie mouse song hadn't even entered my mind until you all started talking about it. Sheesh. And I'm absolutely shocked that Rally will never do a video with it. Hehe. Right.

The Amber video was really pretty, Rally. Nice and fluffy. I'll watch it whenever I need to mellow myself out a little.

Hey Rally - another really great job.

Don't suppose you know how I can change your vids

from avi format to VCD ??

Re: Bravo!

Postby Rally » Mon Jul 01, 2002 10:33 pm

Well first off, they aren't in avi format, but mpg 1 or 2 format. Vcd is simply vcd = mpg1 and svcd = mpg2, so all of my videos are suitable for burning, but player compatibility is always a problem. I actually produce a lot of my videos in svcd / mpg2 format that is 720x480 mode when I render. Obviously I don't upload these cause they are freaking huge.

At any rate, you could burn to vcd just fine, they look pretty good, at least on my tv and player they do. I burn them to torture all my friends and family. They ask me what I am up to and I blather on about Willow and Tara music videos and make them watch. Just never ask someone about their hobbies...

Anyhow if you need specifics about which of my vids are mpg1 or mpg2, just contact me through email and I can give you more details. Without bugging these folks here that already know about my geek infested roots.

Website and Other Videos

Postby Rally » Mon Jul 15, 2002 12:38 am

Big website update, what is my website, you may ask...

Rally Vincent dot Com

Alrighty here, I have needed to take off a lot of the MPG versions of videos from my website because of space issues. The Real Media versions are still available for all my videos. If you desperately need an mpg, you can always contact me through email and we can try to make arrangements.

Next up, it has been a while since I had a new Willow & Tara video, I do have one on the story boards currently. However I decided to branch out and do some general BtVS videos. They can be found on my website under the other videos link. I invite you to check those out if it so intrigues you and email me any feedback you might have about the new endeavors.

I think that is about it for now, hopefully I will have the new W/T effort out for the upcoming weekend.

New video time, this was just a quick one I had to get out of my system. That happens sometimes, it's a short song, acoustic. Maybe later I will tell the story about this song.
