Hello Kittens-
Shinnen, your sketch got me to thinking about your comment about how W+T's kids would look if they were twins and I'm listening to too much Christmas music and this is what came about.
The Limits of Waiting-
“Mommy, you sleep?”
Tara opened one eye and looked at her daughter.
“Ruth, honey, I thought we were going to wait,” Tara said gently. Beside her she felt Willow try to burrow under the blankets.
“Miss Kitty wanted to open her presents,” Jessica said holding the cat around the middle. She was a bit small for three and Miss Kitty was slipping so that the cat was almost standing on the floor.
Miss Kitty glared at Tara with one half-open eye, and it didn’t look like a happy glare. Tara looked at Jessica and then Ruth. Ruth’s red hair and Jessica’s almost white blonde hair were the only things that distinguished the twins. Both looked at her with soft eyes that were sometimes green and sometimes blue and now full of hope and anticipation.
“Oh,” Tara said with a smile.
Willow sat up and looked at the cat in her daughter’s arms.
“Yeah, they’re our kittens and we’re sorry,” Willow said solemnly. Then she looked at Tara and shrugged with a rueful smile. “What’s…six forty-three in the morning for if not to rip up colored paper. Let’s open the presents.”
The two girls squealed as one, and both of them kissed the cat.
Happy Holidays!
