Hi All,
Once again, nearly everything is paraphrased from scribbled notes and
recounted to the best of my ability. Everyone is welcome to repost
anywhere but PLEASE keep in mind that these are not exact quotes so
don't treat them as such and be sure to include the above disclaimer. If you can't adhere to the basic rules of journalism, there is no hope for you
Quote:
1) A director/artist has the ability to influence people and to uplift or crush. Does an artist have a responsibility to their audience or only to the artist's vision?
A) I'm torn on that. As an actor you are at the mercy of other's and their vision but you are the god when writing or directing. I feel you have a human obligation to your audience. You can respond to your heart but be aware of the message.
2) Growing up in Alabama, do you have any horror stories you can share? A) LA is the horror story. I'm a mutt 1/2 Jew girl. Actually, the south is not as segregated as LA can be. Actually, I had a great childhood and loved growing up there.
3) Did Phoebe Flowers call you back?
A) Nope. Actually, she said she didn't like seeing James not playing Spike.
4) Did you have any training in musical theater?
A) Yes. Actually I was a member of the Orlando Opera Children's Chorus. I grew up singing. Singing makes me happy.
5) I see you have paint splatters on your pants. Did you come by them normally or buy them that way?
A) They are my sister's overalls. They are very comfortable. My baby sister who's taller than me. I have a very young face and still get carded. My mom says I'll appreciate it some day.
6) How did you feel about Tara's death?
A) Joss loved it and thought it was cool. It was supposed to be at the very beginning of the season and Joss was truly thinking about the story. He's had friends with addiction problems and wanted to show what that can do. It was metaphorical addiction to magic for Willow. But he kept pushing it out later and later.
7) How was it filming your death scene?
A) I was around for Joyce's death and they had to film it for days. I just told Joss I wanted it to be quick and done in a day. I didn't want to live it over and over again. They made me a headstone shaped good-bye cake on my last day.
8 ) Do you keep in contact with Joss?
A) I saw Joss at ComiCon.
9) You mentioned earlier about how Joss used magic use as a metaphor for addiction. In earlier seasons, magic was a metaphor for a closeted lesbian relationship. Do you have any comments or thoughts on that?
A) This is what I love about Buffy fans. They are so smart and think so much about the show and come up with all these things. You're right that it was a metaphor for that earlier but I'm not sure. I need to think on it.
10) Do you stay in touch with Sarah and Alyson?
A) Yes. I saw Sarah just a little while ago at this breakfast place and saw Aly at the High Stakes even along with Alexis and several others.
11) What was your first movie?
A) First I did King of the Hill and then The Crush. I did one after the other and thought this is how the business works and you just go from one project to the other. Then it stopped for a while.
12) Can you tell us about your audition process?
A) I knew Aly before but I went in and met with Joss and Marti without mentioning it to her. After the audition I went to go out of town but then got the call and had to come back. Joss was looking for someone smaller but Marti kept pushing. I'm child bearing country girl stock. I make two of Sarah or Aly (Teep's note: I don't see how. Amber is so tiny in real life.) (CaptMurdock’s note: She is tinier than you’d think. But she has, I think, lost a little weight since she was on BtVS).
13) Why did Tara have a stutter in the beginning and then it disappeared.
A) Joss and I discussed having the stutter disappear over time as Tara become more confident and secure in her love.
14) In Bye, Bye Love you worked with Buffy castmembers...(can't remember the rest)?
A) I worked with Eliza and Seth. I'd only seen one episode of Buffy before I started but I was excited about working with both of them again. Only by the time I started I found out they both were no longer on the show. I did get to see Lindsay Crouse who had played my mother.
15) How does your family feel about you playing a lesbian witch?
A) They don’t all know. Or they know about the witch part and not the lesbian part. But I felt it was a good character and important.
16) Do you create your characters around certain actors?
A) No. For Chance, Simon was me. I count when I'm nervous. I did create the bug guy for my friend Nate.
17) What were your feelings and reactions to watching your death scene on Buffy?
A) I don't know. I've never seen it. I only watch the very beginning and then I change it.
18 ) What was the most fun episode to make?
A) Definitely the musical. Me, Nick, and Michelle told Joss we think every episode should be a musical then he asked us if we had any idea how long it took him to do that one.
19) What is your dream role?
A) I'd love to play Joan of Arc but I'm too old. I've played Lady Macbeth against James at Joss' house. I also did Desdemona opposite J's [August Richard’s] Othello. I was a big Fred/Gunn shipper and cheered when they got together. [Me, too!
20) Who's idea was it for Chance and Simon to trade places when her mom visits?
A) It was written in the script and James looks so hot as a girl.
21) What was it like working on Cold Case?
A) I really liked that episode. It said something and it was a chance to have an influence. Also, they are really careful about getting things right for the time period that the episode is in.
22) What's the one thing you'd most like to be remembered for on Buffy?
A) That it's okay to be a girl with a girlfriend. That it's more important to just find love.
23) When you were added to the credits in season six, was it as a nice thing or a gotcha to the audience?
A) A little bit of both. Joss was being nice to me but he also likes to trick the audience.
24) Do you have any new projects you are working on?
A) I just finished my second movie and Chance has a distributor so I'm working on that. I also just finished a new Ghosts of Albion book with Chris Golden. It's funny. Chris is this big man and inside he's all squishy and girly. He likes "Rent."
25) Who were the best cast members to hang with and who was fun to be around?
A) Michelle was like a little sister and we used to spend time together a lot. I'd hang with James, Aly, Emma, and I love Sarah. Actually, Alexis came to visit during one of Willow and Tara's first together scenes. I felt I had to say sorry and then he kept saying - "no, that's ok."
26) How did you feel about the way Joss approached religion on the show?
A) I took a world religion class when I was in ninth grade. It was a good platform to get stuff out there.

Thanks should go to Teep for writing this up and posting, and my friend Dave for the head's-up.
