Summary: Attempting to make a point to herself, Willow ends up with more than she bargained for.

This has got to be the longest day of my entire life. Tara thought to her self as she sat at her desk at Nelson Imagery and Graphics in San Francisco. It’s not that she didn’t like her job, today was just a boring day. All her projects for the next month were finished and on her boss’ desk. Tara was in the middle of flinging rubber-bands into a cup across her office when her cell phone began to vibrate. She looked at the name that showed on the little screen and smiled.
“Hey, what’s up?” she spoke into the phone.
“Oh nothing just thought I’d call.” a soft voice came through the connection.
“What are you doing home this time of day?” Tara teased lightly.
“I had a doctor’s appointment.”
“Are you ok? You sound a little upset.”
“I uh, the doctor says that I’m…”
“What it is?” ‘Uh oh’
“I’m pregnant.”
”OH. MY. GOD. That’s wonderful, wait, you’re upset. Is everything ok? Is it the baby?”
“No Tare, the baby’s fine. And before you ask, I’m fine.”
“Then what’s with the sad voice. Have you told Trey yet?”
”Uh yeah…”
“What did he say?”
“He left, he said he wasn’t ready to be a father and I agreed. So he packed his stuff and left.”
“Oh sweetie I’m so sorry, I’m sure he was just a little overwhelmed” 'That slimy little bastard’
“I don’t think so and I’m actually kind of ok with it. I mean of course it sucks that I won’t see him at all anymore but we were already ready to move on from each other. And I really don’t think that he would be that good of a father because, let’s face it, even Xander is more responsible than Trey. But, I still don’t think I can raise a child. I mean, I don’t know what a baby would want or how to take care of one or how to hold one or…”
“Willow!”
“Yeah,”
“Deep breaths, okay, breathe before you pass out.”
“Ok,”
“I’ll be there as soon as I can. I think the next plane to New York leaves at 10 tonight, so I ought to be there by 6:30…”
“Tara I can’t ask you to fly out here. I mean what about your job and Michelle…”
“I’ll be there by 6:30 ok?”
“Thanks”
“No problem Will.”

‘I should come back later. She could be sleeping and then I would just be disturbing. This is stupid I should just go find a hotel and come back later. But what if she woke up early so she wouldn’t miss me? If I wait until later she might get nervous and think something bad happened. I’m sure pregnant women and stress aren’t a good combination. This is retarded I should just go ring the doorbell.’
Tara exited the rental car she had picked up at the airport, grabbed her bag from the trunk, and approached the large two-story house. ‘This house is too big for her to stay in by herself.’ She knocked softly on the door only to have it opened immediately by a very exhausted looking redhead.
They stood looking at each other for a long minute. Tara looked at her best friend, barely controlling the feelings she had held in since high school. She didn’t think it was possible, but it seemed that Willow had gotten even more beautiful in the six months since her last visit.
Willow took a shuddering breath as see looked into the crystalline blue eyes that had always felt like home. A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as her eyes watered from the pure joy and relief seeing Tara had caused in her. She felt her lower lip began to tremble as the blonde stepped through the door. The door closed with a resounding click and Willow felt two days worth of suppressed tears start to roll down her face.
“Willow,” Tara opened her arms and took a step towards the redhead. Willow gladly sank into the warm embrace desperately wrapping her arms around Tara’s neck. “Willow, sweetie, it’s ok.”
Willow clung to Tara for a few minutes until her tears subsided. She pulled back and looked at Tara with a small smile. “I’ve missed you,” she admitted biting her lip and blushing lightly.
Tara chuckled softly. “I’ve missed you too Will.” She reached forward and brushed away the rest of Willow’s tears.
Willow ducked her head as a huge smile lit up her face. “It’s still early you can go get some sleep if you want. I made up all the extra rooms so that you could pick when you got here. And I bought all those freaky smelling candles you like. Um the room up by the bathroom is the largest so you’d probably want to…” She stopped short when she heard soft giggling coming from Tara.
“You have know no idea how much I have missed that.” she stepped forward and kissed Willow’s forehead. She took the redhead’s hand and led her through to the living room. “And I can rest later.” Tara sat on the large red leather sofa and pulled Willow down against her.
Willow settled against her laying her head on Tara’s chest. She snuggled into her friend and sighed. She yawned and tried to keep her eyes open. She had been up since 5 that morning, her nervous energy not allowing her to sleep. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she snuggled closer to her best friend.
“Tara, I want to hear you sing.”
“Sure Will, what do you want to hear?”
“It doesn’t matter, just sing.”
Tara smiled at the redhead as she softly began to sing.
“The words have been drained from this pencil
Sweet words that I want to give you
And I can’t sleep
I need to tell you, goodnight
When we’re together I feel perfect
When I’m pulled away from you
I fall apart

Willow’s eyes slid shut as she listened to Tara sing. The words weaving themselves into her dreams as she fell asleep.

Willow's having a baby...Willow's having a baby. How cute is that and Tara being there playing the 'father' is just down right adorable. I love this story so far. Please continue with it.
