HEY PEOPLE!!!!!!!! IM BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Im sorry I havent posted in a couple of days, this time it wasnt my fault. My internet has been completely crazy lately. Im sorry. Anyway, I hope you like this Chapter....
CHAPTER 26- An amazing story…There was a loud sound, as if somebody was hammering something. Faith wanted to insult the person who was hammering something at that hour. The Slayer looked still sleepy at her clock and saw that it was 10: 30 in the morning. Faith groaned and tried to get back to sleep.
But the pounding continued and Faith realized that it was her door…somebody was pounding on her door…What the hell…
Faith got out of bed, she was wearing a tank top and sweatpants she had somehow managed to get into the night before. On her way to the door she grabbed and put on a black cotton hooded jacket.
Faith opened the door and saw Willow standing there…looking mighty pissed…
“Red? What the hell…Where’s Blondie?” Faith look behind Willow but Tara wasn’t there. And Willow had never been there without Tara.
“I came to talk to you,” Willow said as she walked inside, not bothering to wait for an invitation. “And you’re going to listen to me.”
“Kay? Mind if I eat somethin’ while you talk?” Faith said as she walked towards the kitchen.
“No, I don’t mind. And I came to talk about Dawn and no, Tara doesn’t know I’m here, she’s working.” Willow sat on one of the stools while Faith made some fresh coffee and toasts. Neither of them said anything else for about ten minutes.
“Coffee?” Faith offered a mug. Willow took the offered mug and grabbed the spoon to add some sugar while she waited for Faith to sit across from her.
They both drank their coffee, and in case of Faith eat her toasts, in silence. Willow was constantly staring at Faith, as if pondering what was going on in the Slayer’s mind or what to say or do. Faith kept her gaze on the dark marble surface of the counter-island the whole time, she didn’t want to look up to meet Willow’s accusatory gaze. She didn’t want to see the hate in those eyes. She didn’t want to look up and add more guilt to the one she already felt…
Willow watched quietly how Faith put her mug and the one Willow had used in the dishwasher and finished her last piece of toast, before sitting back on the stool across her. Faith still hadn’t said anything, she hadn’t even looked at her. For a moment she wondered if that was because she felt some regret or if she cared at all…
“I had to comfort her. She cried on my shoulder…twice…because of you,” Willow said, her voice lacking any kind of emotion. Faith didn’t look up, she didn’t say anything and Willow didn’t add anything else.
“I don’t wanna hurt her, she’s my friend,” Faith finally said.
“But you want more, right?” Willow asked, her voice still emotionless.
“It doesn’t matter what I want. I can’t give her what she wants,” Faith said.
“I’m not Tara, I’m not good with words. So I’m just going to say this…You’re going to prove they were right, aren’t you?” Willow said.
“What does that mean? Who are they?” Faith asked, confused.
Willow rested her elbows on the counter and leaned in a couple of inches.
“I know your past, Faith. I didn’t mean to pry but I was cleaning your records. I know it all. I know why you’re like this. And you’re proving them they were right…”
“What the fuck…who the fuck are they?” Faith asked and finally looked at Willow.
“All those people who told you that you were worthless, a piece of garbage. All those people who told you that you weren't good enough…” Willow was looking right into Faith’s eyes. “All those who betrayed you and made you believe that you didn’t deserve to be loved.” The redhead made a pause. “And you’re just proving they were right,” Willow added rather harshly.
“What the fuck do you know?” Faith snapped. She wasn’t screaming, but she was shocked. She couldn’t believe the person in front of her was Willow…
“I know enough to understand. I know enough to know that you’re proving they were right. And you’re making yourself believe that,” Willow said. She definitely had learnt…she definitely knew now…
“What the fuck do you want me to do, Red?”
“Prove yourself that they were wrong. You are a good person, but you don’t know it, you don’t believe it. Prove yourself that they were wrong, Faith,” Willow said.
They stood there, looking into each other’s eyes for what seemed like hours. Willow finally understood what Tara had meant when she said that Faith’s emotions were obvious, were just there to see them but that usually people didn’t see it. She hadn’t been able to see it before that moment. But now she could…
“How?”
“Start trusting yourself. Start by not running away from your feelings. Start by dropping the tough chick act because no one buys it anymore,” Willow said.
“Still, I can’t give Dawn what she wants.”
“She wants
YOU, Faith. And right now, she’s hurting. I promised once that I’d look after her. If you’re so much of a chicken shit that you need to run away from your feelings, then stay the hell away from her. Because I won’t let you hurt her more. But if you’re willing, if you have the balls to back up your bad-ass reputation…then don’t make her wait forever…Don’t play these stupid teenager games.”
With that said, Willow stood up and walked towards the door. The redhead had already opened the door when Faith spoke again.
“Is it worthy to take the risk?”
Willow looked at her and gave her a small smile.
“Love is the only worthy thing in this world,” was all Willow said before leaving, closing the door behind her.
*********************************************************************************************
Two days later…Willow and Tara entered the magic box that afternoon. As usual they were holding hands and this particular afternoon, they were both smiling widely. They have had a meeting with Mr. and Ms. O’Connell the day before and they had agreed on a price for the house and had started the paper work. They had told Dawn the morning after they came back from LA while having breakfast. At first the brunette was disappointed they were moving out but when they told her the house was next door she smiled again and instantly agreed that it was the best idea. She was excited when she found out that she’d have more than one niece or nephew to spoil and babysit…
Xander and Giles were both sitting around the research table. The older man was reading from an old looking book and the younger one reading a construction magazine. Anya was behind the counter with the money.
“Xander, look, look!” Willow almost ran to her best friend holding a piece of paper in her hands.
He grabbed the paper and his eyes widened. Tara walked to them and grabbed Willow’s hand.
“Is that...”
“That’s my baby!” Willow squealed excited. Then she corrected herself. “I mean, that’s our baby! Our baby,” Willow corrected herself and smiled at Tara. Tara smiled, placed a short loving kiss on Willow’s cheek and sat down on the chair.
Even Giles had left his book to walk around the table and take a look at the tiny figure on the paper. A small but happy smile spread across his lips.
“I can’t believe that tiny thing is your baby,” Xander commented, looking at it closer.
“It is beautiful, girls,” Giles said honestly. He had learnt to love them both as the daughters he never had so he was obviously happy for them. They had grown so much and that made him proud.
“Thank you, Giles,” Tara said.
“Thanks, Giles. The doctor said that everything was fine with both Tara and the baby,” Willow said bouncing up and down, excited. She was obviously happy.
“I’m glad to hear such wonderful news,” Giles said before taking one last look at the tiny figure on the picture and walked back to his chair to continue reading his book.
“It’s amazing, guys. An, Anya, come and check this out,” Xander called out to his wife from over his shoulder.
“I was counting the money so this better be good,” Anya said as she walked to them. She looked at the image her husband was holding. “What is that?”
“The first sonogram, Anya,” Tara said.
“Baby first picture!” Willow perkily added.
“Is that your parasite?” Anya asked looking at it closer.
“Anya!” Xander’s eyes widened.
“Good Lord,” Giles added from across the table.
“It’s
NOT a parasite, Anya!” Willow’s smiled and perkiness had banished like smoke. Now she was frowning and didn’t exactly like her best friend’s wife. “That’s our baby! Our baby! Not some kind of yucky bug!”
“It feeds from her, lives inside her. It’s a parasite,” Anya said. For her that logic was flawless.
“It’s
NOT!!!” Willow snapped. The redhead seemed ready to jump and strangle Anya.
Tara stood up and placed her hand on Willow’s arm. The redhead instantly calmed down a little but she glared at Xander, who shrieked in his seat.
“Calm down, honey, it’s okay,” Tara said.
“No, it’s not!” She looked at Xander again. “Couldn’t you get a
human wife atleast? Or were you thinking with your dick, as usual?” Willow snapped and walked towards the door.
The redhead turned around and looked at Tara.
“I’ll call Faith and tell her to pick you up later,” Willow said before leaving.
Tara sighed and looked at her friends.
“I’ll talk to her.”
Tara grabbed the sonogram and left. Suddenly, Anya slapped the back of Xander’s head.
“OUCH! Why did you do that?”
“You didn’t defend me!”
“If you kept your mouth shut sometimes I wouldn’t have to defend you,” Xander said and went to the back room to fix the weapons chest.
*********************************************************************************************
“Will! Willow!”
Willow stopped walking, without turning around. Tara caught up with her and grabbed her hand. They started walking together, hand in hand, without saying anything.
“You know she didn’t mean it like that,” Tara said.
“I know she didn’t but I don’t care. I’m sick and tired of being understanding just because she is the ex-demon. She’s been human for years but she hasn’t learnt anything but to make money. She should atleast know when to shut up,” Willow said.
“You were a bit harsh back there. You know Xander loves her,” Tara said, trying to make her see that she wasn’t innocent either.
“That’s Xander. Loves women who walk all over him. And I don’t care how much he loves her, I will
NOT allow
ANYBODY to talk like that about our child,” Willow said rather harshly.
Tara knew how protective Willow could be but this was a whole new level…
“She wasn’t trying to insult us,” Tara tried to reason with her girlfriend.
“But she did. She called our child a parasite. I don’t care if she meant it or not. She did,” Willow snapped.
“Please, Will, don’t get mad at me,” Tara said.
Willow stopped walking and cupped her girlfriend’s face with her hands. She softened her expression and sighed.
“I’m sorry, baby, I didn’t…I’m mad at Anya, not at you,” Willow apologized. The redhead leaned in and placed a short sweet kiss on Tara’s lips. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, Will.”
“Do you want to go to the park, baby?”
“Sure.”
They walked towards the park. People were there having picnics, little boys and girls were playing around with dogs or soccer balls. Willow and Tara walked towards the lake. There was a wooden bridge in one side of the lake. They smiled at each other, Willow swung their joined hands playfully and Tara stopped them. The blonde leaned back against the wooden railing and pulled Willow to her. Tara caressed her girlfriend’s arms and entwined her fingers with Willow’s hair. Willow smiled, she was so happy, her girlfriend made her so happy…The redhead placed her hands around Tara’s waist and rested her forehead on Tara’s shoulder. Willow giggled when Tara lowered her head and the tips of their noses brushed slightly. Tara bit her lower lip and brushed her lips against Willow’s.
Willow’s hand caressed Tara’s back over the soft cotton blouse and entwined her fingers with Tara’s hair. The redhead made Tara to lower her head a tiny bit more so they could kiss properly.
“I love you, Will,” Tara whispered.
“I love you too, Tare,” Willow whispered back.
They kissed again and decided to keep walking. But Tara was a bit tired so they sat down on a bench. Willow rested her head on Tara’s shoulder and the blonde placed a sweet kiss on top of her girlfriend’s hair. Willow placed her hand on Tara’s belly.
“I know Carolina said that we didn’t have to worry but I think my belly is too big for three months,” Tara said after a minute of silence. The blonde pulled out the sonogram from her jacket pocket and looked at it.
“If Carolina said there’s nothing to worry about, then there’s nothing to worry about,” Willow said, looking at the sonogram adoringly.
“But really, don’t you think my belly is a bit too big?” Tara asked.
“Um…nah,” Willow said. The redhead looked at Tara’s belly closer. “Maybe, a tiny bit, I guess…I still think it’s beautiful. Maybe our baby girl or boy is a bit bigger.”
“Maybe,” Tara agreed and nodded. The blonde smiled when Willow nuzzled the skin of her neck with her nose and lowered her head so their lips could meet.
A soccer ball rolled over to them, but they didn’t notice it at first, they were too busy kissing. A olive-skin, dark-haired boy came running after the ball and finally caught them. He seems to be around 7 or 8 years old and was looking at them, curious.
“Are you lesbians?” The little boy asked them out of the nowhere.
They jumped apart at the sound of the boy’s voice.
“Hey there, little buddy. What are you doing here?” Willow asked, trying to calm her racing heart.
“I was looking for my soccer ball. Are you together? My mommies are together too. They are over there. So, you’re together?” Tara covered her mouth to stop herself from giggling, the little boy was just too cute.
“We are, buddy. So you have two mommies, huh? What’s your name?” Willow asked him, glancing at Tara. The blonde could see the amusement in her eyes.
“I’m Brian. And yes, I have two mommies and a younger sister, Jasmine,” the little boy answered.
“That’s wonderful, sweetie. But maybe you should go back, your mommies may worry,” Tara said, smiling at the little boy.
“What are your names? Are you going to have a baby? I remember when my mom was pregnant with my baby sister, she wanted French fries all the time,” Brain said and nodded with his head, the slightly curly dark locks of hair bounced up and down with the movement.
“Well, I’m Willow and she’s Tara and yes, we’re going to have a baby,” Willow replied.
“Brian? Where are you?” A voice called out, obviously getting closer.
An Indian looking woman walked towards them. She was wearing a loose red blouse and jeans and was beautiful. Her black eyes matched Brain’s and they were kind and luminous. Her black hair was braided behind her head and matched her son’s as well.
“Brian, sweetie, here you are. Are you bothering the ladies?” The woman had a light accent and it was in fact Indian. She looked at Willow and Tara. “I’m sorry if he is bothering you.”
“Not at all,” Willow said.
“Your son is adorable,” Tara added smiling.
“I wasn’t bothering them, mommy. They are Willow.” The little boy giggled at the funny name. “And Tara. They’re together like you and mom and they’re going to have a baby too.”
“Well, Willow, Tara, it’s nice to meet you and congratulations. I’m Shanti.”
The woman extended her hand.
“Nice to meet you too. I’m the one with the funny name,” Willow joked and shook her hand.
“Nice to meet you, Shanti,” Tara said as she shook the woman’s hand.
“Mom, why don’t you invite them to come with us?” Brain suggested.
“Good idea, sweetie. Would you like to come and sit with us? We’re eating cookies and drinking some juice,” Shanti proposed.
Willow and Tara looked at each other.
“Sure, why not? Are you feeling alright, baby?” Willow asked Tara.
“I feel perfectly fine, Will,” Tara replied.
They got up and walked with them. Under a large tree another Indian woman was cradling a sleeping infant that didn’t look older than a year. The little girl was the portrait of both her mother. Brian ran to them, left the ball by the picnic basket and knelt down by his mother side, the little boy pulled out a PSP and started playing his video game. Shanti sat on the other side of the woman and took the sleeping baby girl from her wife’s arms.
“Zahira, these are Willow and Tara. Our little boy ran into them,” Shanti said.
Willow and Tara sat down in one corner of the blanket.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Zahira,” the other woman said, a little smile on her lips and her brown eyes sparkling with joy.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Tara,” the blonde said and they shook hands.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Willow, obviously,” the redhead said and they shook hands as well.
Zahira smiled.
“They’re a couple like you and mom and they’re going to have a baby too, mommy,” Brian added.
“Congratulations. How far along are you?” Zahira said.
“Three months,” Tara said.
“She’s showing already. See?” Willow proudly placed her hand her girlfriend’s belly to show the baby bump through the shirt Tara was wearing.
“So, do you live in Sunnydale?”
“No, we live in LA,” Shanti said.
“We drove to San Diego to visit some friends. We decided to get a hotel room and spend the day here,” Zahira explained with her light Indian accent.
“And you? You live here?” Shanti asked.
“We do. I was born and raised here,” Willow said.
Tara looked away for a second and then spoke.
“I moved here for college.”
Shanti and her wife shared a look.
“Did you run away?” Shanti asked and her wife hit her arm.
“It is rude to ask that,” Zahira said.
Tara blushed slightly.
“Well, yes, I did,” Tara admitted and Willow grabbed her hand, offering her silent support.
“There’s no need to be embarrassed. We ran away too,” Shanti said as she slowly stroke her baby’s black hair.
“We were 16. We left India and went to London,” Zahira added.
“It was an oddity at first,” Shanti said.
“I understand, I really do,” Tara said and nodded.
“You both were so young,” Willow commented.
“Yes, but we had to run away or to be forced to marry men we didn’t love,” Shanti said.
“My…well, they were never my family. My father and brother…I had to run away,” Tara said and both Indian women nodded, they understood what wasn’t said. “I have a family now.” Tara looked at Willow and gave her a small smile.
“You know, Tara is actually a Goddess from the Tibetan Buddhism,” Shanti said.
Willow grinned and her eyes never left her girlfriend’s face.
“We know,” Willow said.
“So, how long have you been together?” Shanti asked, smiling at the young lovers.
“Six years,” Tara answered.
“The best six years,” Willow added. “And you?”
“Seventeen years,” Shanti replied.
“That’s a lot of time,” Willow said. “So what part of LA do you live in?”
“West Hollywood, where else?” Zahira joked and they all laughed. “I’m a lawyer and Shanti is a doctor.”
“Trauma surgeon, actually,” Shanti clarified.
“We were in LA a couple of days ago. Willow took me because I had the craving for Italian food,” Tara said and smiled at her girlfriend.
“Aww, that was a really sweet gesture,” Shanti commented.
“Indeed it was,” Zahira agreed with her wife’s comment.
Willow blushed.
“It was nothing. I just wanted to do something nice,” the redhead said.
“So what do you do?” Shanti asked.
“I work in the high school. Literature teacher,” Tara said.
“I work from home. I work on websites designing and programs. Almost everyone in Sunnydale has one of my programs or website. I’m doing some jobs for a few clients in LA too,” Willow answered.
“Maybe we could exchange phone numbers and we could talk about a website, then. I’ve been looking for someone good,” Zahira said.
“Willow is the best,” Tara said with a proud smile.
“I have an idea. Why don’t you come and have dinner with us in our house? Trust me, you have to taste Tara’s cooking,” Willow said.
“You’re welcome to come, if you want to,” Tara added, liking her girlfriend’s idea.
“Sure, why not?” Shanti said.
“And we can talk some more about that website,” Zahira agreed.
*********************************************************************************************
“Need any help, baby?”
Willow entered the kitchen where Tara was preparing pasta with bolognese sauce, since they had forgotten to go shopping for groceries and didn’t have much of a choice.
“No, I got it all covered, Will. Could you set the table, honey?”
“Sure thing, Tare,” Willow said.
The redhead placed a short sweet kiss on Tara’s cheek and went to set the table.
*********************************************************************************************
The doorbell rang and Willow went to answer Shanti and Zahira, who were there with Brian and Jasmine.
“Oh, good, you’re here. Come in, come in,” Willow said.
Willow led them to the living room. Brian gave the redhead a hug before sitting down on the floor, his tiny back against the leg of the armchair, and pulled out his PSP from his small backpack. Shanti put Jasmine down on the carpeted floor and gave the little girl her stuffed bear.
“I will go help Tara to finish in the kitchen. Dinner should be ready in a few minutes,” Willow said and left the room.
Dawn entered the house. As usual, she went straight to the living room to drop her bag on the couch but she stopped when she saw they had visitors.
“Oh, hey. Hello. I didn’t know we had company tonight. Hello, I’m Dawn Summers.” The brunette walked to them and extended her hand.
“Shanti, nice to meet you. This is my wife, Zahira.” Shanti shook the brunette’s hand.
“Nice to meet you.”
“You too,” Zahira said and shook her hand.
Dawn noticed the little girl and knelt down on the floor next to Jasmine.
“My God, she’s a cutie. Is she your daughter?” Dawn asked.
“She’s Jasmine and that is our son Brian,” Shanti said.
Dawn turned to the boy.
“Hey there, little man. What’s up?”
“I’m playing Crash Bandicoot. Nice to meet you, Dawn,” Brian said and went back to playing his video game.
“Nice to meet you, Brian,” Dawn said and smiled at the little boy.
Dawn stood up and sat down on the armchair.
“Willow, Tara?”
“They’re in the kitchen,” Shanti replied.
“Cool, so…How did you meet Willow and Tara?”
“We met them today in the park. Our little boy ran into them and we started talking,” Shanti answered.
“We drove to San Diego to visit some friends and decided to spend the day in this lovely town,” Zahira added. “We’re going back to LA, where we live.”
“That’s really cool,” Dawn said.
'Don’t go out at night though…' Dawn thought.
“And how do you know them? You’re Tara’s sister?” Shanti asked.
Dawn laughed.
“No, I’m not. Technically, the house is mine. It used to be my mother’s but she…passed away, so I was left with my sister. My sister was Willow’s best friend and died too a while later, actually. Buffy had named Willow and Tara my legal guardians in case something happened. So they moved in,” Dawn explained. She had found that it hurt less and less every time she mentioned it. She and Tara had spent a lot of time talking…healing the wounds…
“That is a lot to go through being so young,” Shanti sympathized.
“It would have been worse if Will and Tara hadn’t been there. Willow and I always got along and Tara was always my best friend so it was easier.”
In that moment, Willow entered the living room.
“Dawn, you’re home, great. I see you met Shanti and Zahira. Guys, if you follow me, dinner is ready…”
*********************************************************************************************
After dinner, they were drinking coffee in the living room. Shanti and Zahira had just shared their story with Dawn. Willow and Tara were snuggling in the armchair while Shanti and Zahira were in the couch and Dawn was sitting on some pillows with Brian. Jasmine had fallen asleep already so they had put her in Willow and Tara’s bedroom. Dawn was listening to them open mouthed…
“So basically you guys gave up everything…absolutely everything, just to be together…” Dawn said.
“And we’d do it all over again,” both Indian women replied at the same time.
“Wow…that’s love,” Dawn said and nodded, impressed.
The conversation continued, but Dawn couldn’t keep her thoughts at bay. She stopped paying attention to what the others were saying, because now she could see it as clear as day…She could see it…Faith was giving up! Faith was giving up on them before they even begun! The question was, what would Dawn do about it? Well, she was going to fight, damn it! She wasn’t going to let her…
“Will, can I borrow your car?” Dawn asked as she stood up.
“What?” The redhead locked gazes with the brunette and she understood. Willow pulled her car keys from her jacket pocket. “Be careful, sweetie.”
Dawn grabbed the keys on her way to the door.
“I will. Thanks, Will.”
Dawn grabbed her jacket from the hook by the door and got out of the house. She quickly got inside Willow’s car and took a deep breath…She had to fight. She may not be a Slayer but Slayer’s blood ran through her veins. And she was going to fight…
