[center]Chapter 8: New aggravations[/center]
"Hey," Tara said sitting next to Willow, first period. Willow didn't answer. "Please talk to me Will."

"Are you going to snap at me?" Willow asked.

"No I promise. I am so sorry about that. I was having a bad morning and night and well day yesterday," Tara said.

"Is everything okay?" Willow asked.

"Not really," Tara said.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"Are you dating Sophie?" Tara asked.

"What?" Willow looked at Tara. "No."

"Do you like her?"

"Yeah she is cool."

Tara's eyes widen. "So you guys were flirting yesterday," she looked down at the desk.

"What? No."

Tara's head shot up. "You weren't flirting with her yesterday."

"No. What are you talking about?"

"At the park. You guys were tickling each other."

"Are you stalking me?" Willow smirked.

"If I said maybe would you go to the movies with me this Friday?" Tara smiled.

Willow leaned close to Tara. "Nice try."

Xander snorted.

"What?" Tara looked at him.

"She just shot you down," Xander laughed.

"Yeah thanks I got that Xander," Tara threw her pen at him.

"Ms. Mcclay," the teacher said. Tara looked at him. "There is no throwing in my room. Office now."

"Your kidding me right?" Tara said. "It was just a pen."

"Office."

Tara grabbed her stuff and walked out the door.

"You know," Xander looked at Willow.

"Mr. Harris," the teacher said. "Would you like to join Ms. Mcclay?"

"No," Xander looked at his book.

"Hey Will," Buffy said walking into first period.

"Hey," Willow smiled.

"Did you have fun yesterday?" Buffy sat down.

"Yeah, hanging with you guys was a lot of fun. I've never really had friends so I'm glad I finally have some and they are nice."

"Yeah so are you just sticking with friends or are you looking for a girlfriend?"

"I um," Willow paused. "Haven't really thought about it. I guess I'll just see what happens when it comes to a girlfriend. I have only had one before and it was long distance and not really an offical one, I guess you could say."

"Well maybe a nice, sweet relationship is what you need," Buffy smiled.

"Maybe," Willow said looking down at her notebook.

"I know where you can find one."

"Of course you do," Willow mumbled.

"What?"

"Nothing," Willow looked at her. "I don't want you to help me with one."

"But I think you and Sophie will make a cute couple."

"Me and Sophie are friends."

"She wants to be more," Buffy smiled.

"She does?"

"Yes."

"Well I don't."

"You don't," Buffy's smiled fell.

"I only want to be friends with Sophie," Willow said.

"For now, but over time you will grow to like her," Buffy said in a determined voice.

"No I won't," Willow said. "I don't get the feelings I get with..." Willow stopped.

"With?" Buffy asked.

"I don't get the feelings with her that people have told me they got with people they are with."

"Well some people are different, they learn they have feelings for someone sometimes years after they have met them."

"Well I don't want Sophie to wait years."

"She won't have too, you will realize you guys are perfect for each other."

"Buffy," Willow said. "I don't want to be with Sophie and I never will."

"But.."

"No buts. I will never feel that way about her."

"If you say so," Buffy said.

Just than the teacher walked in.

I can't tell Buffy the reason I will never feel that way about Sophie is cause of Tara. Willow thought.

"So how was the office?" Willow asked Tara 3rd period.

"Oh it was grand," Tara sat down. "First I got lectured on not disrespecting others by throwing things, than i got lectured on not disrespecting the people around me, than i got detention for today after school."

"Sounds like a fun filled time," Willow smiled.

"I can show you a fun filled time," Tara smirked.

Willow leaned to her. "So could Sophie, but I'm not gonna date her either."

"But you don't like Sophie in that way."

"I don't like you in that way either."

"Really?" Tara leaned closer.

"Really?"

Tara got close to Willow's ear. "Are you sure about that?" she whispered.

Willow's breath caught and she gulped. She tried to speak, but words escaped her.

"That's what I thought," Tara whispered than moved away, smirking from ear to ear.

"Good morning," and the class began.

"Hello ladies," Jeremy walked up to Willow and Tara as they walked to lunch and wrapped an arm around each of their shoulders.

"Hello darling," Tara smiled.

"How are you guys today?"

"Pretty good," Tara smirked at Willow.

Willow rolled her eyes.

"Is there something going on that I don't know about, but I want to know about so you should tell me?"

"No," Willow said at the same time that Tara said. "Yes."

They looked at each other.

"Fine," Willow said. "Tara asked me out and I rejected her."

"Why?" Jeremy asked.

"Cause she likes me, but is to chicken to give it a chance," Tara said.

"Excuse me," Willow stopped walking. "I'm not to chicken of anything. I'm not gonna give you the satisfactory of adding me to your list of heart breaks."

"Who said I would break your heart? Buffy?"

"Girls," Jeremy said noticing that they were drawing a small crowd.

"We are friends, nothing more."

"Not yet," Tara smirked.

"You are impossible," Willow said.

"So are you."

"And that's why you want me. I'm not giving into you and that's killing you so you are gonna try and try until you get me and than it will prove you can get anyone."

"I can't get Jeremy."

"She has a point," Jeremy said.

"I meant anyone you wanted," Willow said.

"I don't want anyone, but you."

"Until you have me, than you are gonna want another girl and than another and than another."

"Not true," Tara said. "No one is you."

"You don't even know me."

"I know you are funny, smart, and gorgeous as anything."

"That's not much to go on."

"I know you make my heart race, my breath catch, you make me nervous, you excite me, you make me want to come to school everyday just so I can see your amazing smile and hear your beautiful voice."

"Aw," Willow said. "That's sweet," she took a step to Tara. "To bad it was a load of crap that you have probably used a million times before," Willow walked away.

Tara walked after her and grabbed her by the arm. "You don't even know me."

"I know what I have heard and I know that you know I have heard these things and you aren't denying them."

"I have never told anyone those things."

"Well don't start with me," Willow started to walk again.

"I'm not giving up," Tara shouted after her.

"I really wish you would," Willow shouted back.

"You know, she's right," Jeremy said walking up to Tara.

"Jeremy," Tara looked at him surprised.

"No not about what you said not being true. About you not knowing her that well."

"I know that, but," Tara paused. "It's hard to explain. There is something about her. Something I can't explain. I have never felt this way. I have never cared about getting to know someone. I have never had someone make my heart race. She's different from anyone I have ever met."

"And your sure this isn't just cause she turned you down?"

"Jeremy I have been turned down before."

"Seriously?" Jeremy looked surprised.

"Yes seriously," Tara said. "And I have never cared. If they didn't want me than someone else would. But I don't care if anyone else wants me. I just want her to want me."

"Well right now it seems shes mad at you, so that complicates that wanting you thing."

"Thanks," Tara gave him a look. "I got that much." Tara sighed.

"Hey," Faith ran up to Willow when she got into the lunchroom.

"Um hi?" Willow looked confused.

"Have you seen Tara?"

"Yeah she is in the hall with Jeremy."

"I thought you guys walked to lunch together?"

"Well things changed," Willow started to walk.

"She texted me and told me that you turned her down for a date," Faith followed her.

"Yup."

"Why?"

"Not interested."

"Look I know she has a bad rep, but she is a really.."

"Look," Willow stopped and turned to face her. "Tara is awesome and we are becoming good friends. And that's all. good friends. She doesn't know me and when she finds out she won't like me."

"Finds out what?" Faith asked.

"Nothing," Willow turned. "Just leave me alone," she walked away.

"What?" Faith stood there confused.

"So she just said there was something I didn't know about and if I knew about it than I wouldn't like her?" Tara was pacing back and forth across her room.

"Yup," Faith was laying sprawled out on her back on Tara's bed.

"What could it be?"

"I don't know," Faith sat up. "Why don't you ask her."

"Oh yeah cause she is gonna tell me. If she wanted me to know she would tell me."

"Or maybe she just doesn't trust you enough to tell you."

"Thanks," Tara said.

"No I'm serious."

"Your being serious?" Tara joked.

"Tara listen to me. You said you wanted me to be more of a best friend so I am. She has heard all these things about you that are true."

"Bu."

"Shut up. She has heard these and even thought they are true, I can tell that you really like her. I don't understand cause like I said she looks like a nerd.."

"Faith," Tara glared at her.

"But I know you really like her. So the thing you need to do is be her friend."

"I don't wanna be..."

"Until she gets to know the real you, than she won't be able to turn you down," Faith smiled.

"That might just work," Tara said. "But what if she doesn't like me?"

"Than she isn't worth worrying about."

"She will always be worth worrying about."

"Speaking of she," Faith smirked.

"What?" Tara looked at her confused. Faith nodded to the window. Tara turned and saw Willow walking into her room. Jeremy followed her in. They were laughing about something. Jeremy looked towards the window and saw Tara. They smiled and waved.

"What are you doing?" Willow asked than turned and saw Tara. Who gave her a small smile. "Your kidding me right." Willow walked over to the window and closed the curtains.

"Will," Jeremy said.

"I don't wanna see her."

"That will be kinda hard since you have two classes with her."

"She annoys me."

"Cause she likes you?"

"No cause she doesn't know me, but she says she likes me and cause she won't give up even when I ask her too."

"Look I know that she doesn't know you very well. But she said there was something about you that she couldn't explain."

"Yeah I'm turning her down."

"She has been turned down before and she has never cared. Look I have known Tara a long time. I have never heard her say them things to someone. I really think she meant it."

"So about this GSA party that you want to throw," Willow walked over to her book bag and took out a binder.

"Willow hey wait up," Tara ran up to Willow as she walked to school.

"What?" Willow asked not stopping.

"Okay so I don't want you to be mad at me."

"I'm not mad," Willow said looking straight a head.

Willow stopped walking and looked at her. "I'm not mad. It's just... Okay you say all these really sweet things to me, but you don't know me that well and Jeremy told me that you said there was something about me, but if you knew the real me, you wouldn't like me so trust me being friends is better. And you probably won't even wanna be friends with me after you find out what I'm really like."

"What are you really like?" Tara asked.

"You'll find out as the friendship goes along," Willow said.

"Are you like mean and bitchy?"

"No."

"Good," Tara smiled. "Half the girls I was with were and they were annoying."

"I'm not mean and bitchy. I'm nice and sweet."

"Maybe that's what I want," Tara smiled.

"That's how Sophie is," Willow started to walk again.

"Okay, but Sophie didn't give me the feelings you give me. No one has. And besides what makes you think I won't like who you really are?"

"Cause it's not the type of girl you go after."

"If you haven't notice, the girls I go after don't interest me enough to make me wanna be with them for long. So maybe you being different from them is a good thing," Tara smiled.

"Maybe," Willow smiled back.

"Maybe?" Tara's face lite up. "Was that a flirt. Were you flirting with me?"

"You don't give up, do you," Willow giggled.

"Not on the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen," Tara smiled.

Willow grabbed Tara's arm so they would both stop walking. "That was sweet," Willow leaned over and kissed Tara's cheek. She smiled and walked away.

"Now that was flirting," Tara whispered. Than she ran to catch up with Willow.

[center]Chapter 11: New confessions[/center]
"Hey Will," Sophie said as Tara and Willow approached school.

"Hey Sophie," Willow smiled.

Sophie looked Tara up and down. "Tara."

"Sophie," Tara said. "Always a pleasure."

"Wish I could say that same," Sophie said.

"So did you want something Sophie?" Willow asked before the two started fighting.

"Yeah Jeremy said that he was in a rush this morning to do something and to talk to you about what he wanted for the GSA party tomorrow."

"Okay sure," Willow looked at Tara. "I'll see you in class."

"Okay," Tara said. She looked at Sophie than back at Willow. She leaned over and kissed Willow's cheek. "Have fun baby." Than she walked away.

Willow's face turned bright red and Sophie's eyes widen. "You and Tara are a couple?"

"Um uh well," Willow's couldn't really speak. She was shocked as to what happened.

"What the hell was that?" Buffy asked approaching the two.

"She just kissed my cheek. I kissed hers this morning when we were walking," Willow said.

"So you are with her?" Buffy crossed her arms over her chest and glared at Willow.

"No we are just friends," Willow said.

"But she called you baby," Sophie said.

"Cause she likes me and you like me and she wants you to think we are together," Willow said.

"Who said I liked you?" Sophie asked.

Willow looked at Buffy.

"You told her I liked her?" Sophie looked at Buffy too. "Seriously?"

"So you don't like me," Willow said with hope in her voice.

Sophie sighed. "No I do. I was planning on a cute way to ask you out, but since Buffy ruined it," Sophie glared at Buffy who looked at the ground. Sophie than looked at Willow and smiled. "Will you go out with me this Saturday night?"

"No," Willow said right away.

Sophie's smile fell. "Why?"

"Cause," Willow started to walk away than stopped and turned around. "I have feelings for someone. And only one someone. Even though she won't share the same feelings, she is still the only person I want. When she finally rejects me I will look for someone else, but until than..." Willow turned back around and walked into the school.

"So," Willow jumped at the voice and turned to see Tara. "You do like me?" she smirked.

"How do you know I was talking about you?" Willow tried to keep her cool.

"I just know it is," Tara took a step to Willow. "And trust me baby I will never reject you."

"Just wait," Willow said.

"What is it that makes you think I won't like you?" Tara asked.

"I'm a nerd," Willow said flat out. "A computer loving, acts like a little kid, doesn't know anything about anything kids my age know, wears clothes that kids my age thinks are out of style. I'm scared of horses and frogs. Kids have made fun of me. Whenever I went to the park or walked around my old meighborhood, kids always made fun of me. Some kids around here have already made remarks about my clothes. And once they find out other things about me they will make fun of me more."

"Your scared of horses and frogs?" Tara asked.

"Is that all you heard?" Willow said, her voice raising some. Some people turned and looked at them.

"Calm down," Tara put her hands on Willow's shoulders. "I think you are amazing. And all the things you said just make me want to get to know you more. I want to get to know you. What part of that don't you understand? I'm not gonna reject you for who you are. Being who are is gonna make me like you, even love you."

"Love me?" Willow asked.

"Yes love you. I could fall in love with you. I know I could. I have this feelings. Actually a lot of great feelings about you and I know you feel the same way. There is something here. Can't we just go for it. Go for these feelings."

A bell rang.

"We have to get to class," Willow said.

"No, no class."

"But..."

"No," Tara grabbed Willow's hand. "Come on." she smiled. "Let's ditch this place.

"Ditch school," Willow's eyes widen.

"Yes," Tara smiled. "I want to spend the whole day with you and only you," Tara pulled Willow back outside.

"Won't we get caught?" Willow asked.

"Not if we are sneaky," Tara said. She took a look around than pushed Willow into some bushes.

First of all, that describes me exactly in all my insecurities at that age and well, pretty much now too.
No wonder I always identified with Willow far more than with Buffy as a character.
Secondly, your assurance that will be more cheek kisses I'm praying ties in with your other assurance that Tara's butt is the only one Willow wants and as Tara drags Willow into the bushes at the end of this chapter, there will indeed be hands in nice places.
