I only really remember two things from the summer, finding my girl and having cooking & movie nights with an old friend.

What is your favorite memory from a childhood summer?

It was a really great day...I got up early and went to cross-country practice the summer between eighth grade and freshman year of high school (we started training over the summer to increase our distance and started at 6:00 am to beat the summer heat). I ran a long distance and was high off the adrenalin and the accomplishment...then I walked the 3 miles home with daydreams in my head the whole way, came into the house, flopped down on the couch to watch 2 hours of ER reruns with my cat on my lap (in my sports bra under a blanket, cooling off), then running down to the basement while I had the house to myself to watch Bram Stoker's Dracula when nobody was home. It was a great day (and I lathered, rinsed, and repeated most days of that summer...I must've seen that movie more than 30 times).

When did you first learn about sex (not necessarily "the talk", just when did you first hear a rumor of what it was)?

This will seem weird to most people, in fact it seems weird even to me, but I honestly can't remember *not* knowing about sex. I'm fairly certain my parents never sat down and talked to me about it, but knowing them I wouldn't be surprised if it was just casually mentioned... also, my tv watching was never very limited or censored. I remember watching soap operas with my mom when I was around 5 or 6 that had a lot to do with sex but nothing specific, and I know by the time I saw The Red Violin with my mom when I was 7 or 8 I understood what was going on in the sex scene. I just don't remember how I came by the knowledge of what sex was...

How did your parents approach awkward subjects, like sex or puberty or death or something similar, with you as a child?

I more or less believe in a higher power, but I wouldn't call it God. Sometimes I refer to it as the Goddess, but to me it's mostly...Mother Earth, the creator and mother of us all.

How do you/will you/did you/would you raise your children religiously and/or spiritual?

My sweetie and I are both Mahayana Buddhists from different traditions, so I'd like to raise the child probably as a non-denominational Mahayana Buddhist (one who believes in working toward the freedom from suffering of all beings, rather than just themselves).

I'm torn between wanting my body to feed the planet, letting animals live off my remains or just decomposing and acting as fertilizer, and being buried so my loved ones can have a place to visit and feel connected to me.

What do you do to feel connected to those you've lost?

You already know this but for others the answer is I go to the one place I always felt closest to them, hang out and let myself remember until I was okay again.

What is the farthest you would go to feel close to one you have lost?
