A friend sent me a totally random message on facebook and I kinda suspect it was by accident and she meant to send it to someone else, but I'm not sure so I went ahead and wrote her back. The more I think about it the less likely it seems that the message was actually meant for me and now I feel silly for responding.

Last night I was with some of my family on the way back from a party, and my dad and brother were talking about how a lot of drivers in the area at that time of night were drunk or tipsy--except he used the phrase 'not completely straight'. Based on this, I was the only 'completely straight' one in the care, given that even my 16 year old sister had had a glass of champaigne and a shot. I thought it was a little ironic to find myself the straight one in a car full of straight people...

I overheard this conversation a couple weeks ago, and for whatever reason was reminded of it tonight. It made me happy

One of the pre-k teachers at my work was talking about a conversation she had had with her class about families. Almost all the children at our center come from two-parent households, but there was one little boy in her room that only had a mom. When it was his turn to talk he said that he had a mommy but no daddy. Another child was confused and asked "you mean you have two mommies?" because, and this is quoting the teacher exactly, 'that's what he's used to hearing'. It just made my heart smile really big, that a 4 year old (one who has a mom and a dad himself) would see the idea of a two-mom home as perfectly normal.

When I was twelve, I had to pick a second foreign language. Ididn't want to pick English. I didn't like it. My mother's argument was: "you'll be able to understand the lyrics of all those songs you love."
I remember answering, "I'm not sure I wanna know what it says, it may very well be flat."
In the end I picked Spanish but wasn't allowed to take it, English was obligatory because it wasn't my first Foreign language. I was angry and didn't make much efforts to learn it.

Now years later, I do speak English thanks to a world of Fan Fictions. And I've checked some of the songs I loved as akid/teenager.

I'm sad to know I was right when I said I didn't want to know. :(

Right now I'm talking about a rap song of a French band "I AM". The song's called Saga, and it's featuring the band WU TANG CLAN. The French parts are meaningful with a good base of cultur and nice word-plays. Like any good rap should be. The English part are already bling-bling like.
