In addition to the usual "baby" or "sweetie," I occasionally call her Stink-Eye Susie. Long story.

yeah, i'm generally a "baby" and "sweetie" kind of girl, too. that's all the current girl is getting for now. though i do call her "cousin [insert her last name here]" because she's the cousin of one of my best friends whom i only call by her last name. but that's kind of creepy.

i had one ex who i called "booger" or "boog" which had somehow evolved from calling one of my cats a snot. we still talk now and sometimes i'll catch myself ready to bust out with an "oh, boog."

and i had another ex who called me "crabcake" because she would sometimes call me "honeybun" or "cupcake" in a joking manner (cause those names just sound so cheesy) and one day she slipped and called me crabcake. that one went on for years.

I've called Mrs. Gorn "Hey Baby" almost from the beginning. When we reached that stage early in our relationship where we were calling each other all the time, one of my friends said, "Are you talking to Hey Baby again?" The name stuck, and pretty soon all my friends were calling her Hey Baby (my English-speaking friends, at least, who all had trouble with her real name anyway).

great thread.

I have some pretty strange names that I call my wife

Punkin lips, or just plain punkin, my love, my little tit-mouse (only because it sounds really dirty :eyebrow :lol ), My little Cumquat (same reason as previous), Honey, Baby (which is, most of the time shortened to "bay" )

and my wife calls me Bubba-gum (short for bubblegum) :aww :-| , or Bay.

I call her the usual "baby", "sweetie", and "cutie pie"... and a name that totally destroys my slightly butch image... "honey bunches of oats."

Postby Boschi » Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:23 am

I keep my pet name for my gf somewhat private, as she is sometimes bothered by me thinking of her as my "lovely beast".... "It's a nice thing." I tell her. "You look like a lioness when you yawn in the morning." But so far she just isn't convinced. She does seem to like my phone greeting - "Hey good lookin'".
As for me, she frequently greets me with a happy, "Oh look, it's a sweaty farm girl!" Not exactly a pet name, but I refuse to acknowledge that I'm also occassionally called "babiest". Oh damn, I just did.
Don't confuse me with your reasonableness.

Ha! These are fun.

I started calling Mrs. Leaf "bean girl" (she's a tall and lanky sort) ages ago and a number of permutations have evolved from there - "beanie", "beana", "beana verbena". "Sweet thing" and "honey" also represent. And a year or two ago, "baby" spontaenously entered the mix. Go figure.

There's also a batch of pet names used when we are trying to piss eachother off - "schnookums", "pudding puff", and the dreaded "honey-pumpkin-lover" (from that steve miller band song)...

I often call my partner "Partner." This follows a trend of me calling people / animals what they are. Henry the beagle is known as "Beagle." Mr. Jones the cat is often called "Kitty" or "Mr. Kitty." I even call my friend Nita "Friend" sometimes. I am weird.

Partner is also known as "sweetie" "darlin'" "baby" "honey" and "snuggly Partner."

The 'partner' thing seems weird now that I see it typed out. I still like it though.

I usually go with baby or sweetie but frequently and humorously we both call each other "schmoopie" sometimes. It's just so silly that it stuck.

My girlfriend and I conjured our main nicknames the first time we met... It originally came from my dislike of her then current nickname of 'Cleo'... which i found not only hilarious but also ridiculous because it didn't suit her at all lol... So I assigned her a nickname the way I do for everyone (because yes, I actually DO make a past time of giving people nicknames lol).... I went on a random, strangely logical rant... that lead me to 'Scarlet'...

As for me, I am 'Shifty' due to my self-proclaimed *shifty eyes* on msn lol...

And of course there is the usual sweetie, baby, beautiful, gorgeous, my love, my girl etc etc... I even get called 'goddess' sometimes lol... and variations of my name (J, Justy, Just and so on)...

Wow... that's actually a fair few names... do i win some kind of prize? Cookies perhaps? :p

A girlfriend I had in high school and I always thought names like "sweetheart" and "snookums" and such were hilarious, so we used to call each other that jokingly and try to out-cheese each other, meaing we would have little competitions to see who could come up with the worst pet names. We'd call each other "pookie-wookie-snookie-poo" and such :p . I don't mind pet names as much as she did, so my next girlfriend and I used to call each other baby, sweetie, honey, lovey, and so forth. I had one boyfriend who used to call me "sugarbuns..." :eyebrow I date weird people. :-D

I call my partner pooby...a shortened form of poobum and I can't remember how I came up with that exceptionally flattering moniker for her but I now can't call her anything else. It is somewhat embarassing when you are in the middle of town.

Mine is just as worse, she calls me diddle...

The current gf and I haven't really gotten to pet names yet, but I've had some fun ones in the past. My first gf called me blushy bear (cause I did the blushy face alot and my AOL emoticons were bears, it was actually far too logical). Also, ninja shy girl (cause of my ability to blend into crowds until I want to be noticed). As well as the usuals. I used to call her Moofish, cause of this thing where she'd say moo alot and I found a goldfish crackers ad that had a cracker saying moo.

I know it's not a partner or ex pet name, but my best friend has quite a few names for me. Sarapoopoo (I "hate" that one), Nimfi (and she's my Bobo), I'm Sykokitty and she's Cleptokitty (two cartoon cats we made up in 7th grade).

I also tend to get Sarabear alot, from many people, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. I wouldn't mind Sarebear, but I never get that.

And... I think that's it.
