What kind of woman...

Postby Dorothy » Tue Dec 23, 2008 4:12 am

Do you love?

I have a thing for womanly curves and red curly hair, but I'm not much of a looks person. As long as she looks healthy and clean, I'm happy enough.

But I just LOVE strong women, not physical strength, but mental/emotional, especialy when the strength is hidden behind a layer of cuteness and the girl isn't completely aware that it's inside of her... Even though it does come out.

what about the other kitties here?

I love really feminine girls that can go from wearing heels at a party with me to wearing baggy sweatpants and a tank with no problem. So I guess a girlie girl who's not afraid of roughin' it, and someone who likes sports...and doesn't smoke. And likes to have conversations about world current events and abstract things like why a chair is called a chair, and a desk is called a desk...(just an example) Someone who values intelligence, and gets turned on by it.

For the most part I love individual women and all their quirks, I mostly don't have a 'type'.

That said, there are a few things that do particularly 'get me' about a girl.

Physically, I particularly go for: redheads, extremes of height (tall and short), asian features, athleticism, and the ability to fight.

Mentally, I particularly go for: inner strength, geekiness, kindness, the ability to let oneself be silly, and the willingness to fight.
I'll be everything that I want to be,
I am confidence in insecurity.
I am a voice yet waiting to be heard,
I'll shoot the shot, bang, that you hear 'round the world.

I don't know. ^^;; I don't have a specific type.
For all those words of tongue and pen, the saddest are those: "It might have been."

Tara ended up next to Oz in the elevator. He looked at her, nodding to himself.
"What?" She asked.
"You look good. Kinda radiant."
Tara nodded. "I was resurrected a few days ago."
Oz arched an eyebrow. "That'll do it."

Hmm I don't have a type either, physical I mean, I went from Northern blode haired fair skinned to southern freckled redhead to mountain-raven haired. So yeah no type.
But she has to be a deep person, and genuine. And that can cope with humanity still being herself.
Of course she'd have to stand and be able to follow babbles, as I babble for five :p

Non-smoking, reasonably physically fit (so when we go on those "long romantic walks" she doesn't hyperventilate! ;-))...

...and killer smiles. :grin

Of course looks should not be the important thing, but I guess many will go on that.

My ideal type is feminine, athletic with straight long hair. I like blondes and red heads especially,

Non-smokers and not heavy drinkers.

I would have to say I like a women who smokes but it doesnt matter if they don't and there are very few blondes that I like mainly because most of the blondes I have met have fit the steriotype of only caring about fasion which I find the biggest turn off, what I mainly look for in a girl is good sense of humour and, of course, they have to be a fan of BtVS.

no offence, but I'd never date someone who wants a girl without any mental issues. Not just because I'm kinda scratched by my nice mother, but mainly because I assume someone like that won't be there for you if you feel down, because they want a "mentally clean" girlfriend.

(please post your point of view if you disagree, am very curious about other peoples oppinion and I won't attack anyone for saying what they think.)

My last girlfriend had "mental issues" and it got so bad that I was afraid for my life. I'm not talking about a few insecurities (we all have those) ... I'm talking about full-blown PTSD with seizures and flashbacks. I was there for her at every turn, until the day I realized that she was using the "mental issues" to manipulate me, basically turning me into an abuse victim.

Please don't make the mistake of thinking that this about not being there for someone. When you wake up in the middle of the night because your girlfriend is staring at you in the dark with a knife in her hand, then we'll discuss it further.

I like people with a little streak of crazy in them, whatever you like to call it: quirkyness, eccentricity, randomness or just plain old crazy. It's normalcy that's bland. Emphasis on little though, I wouldn't want someone who's psycho crazy; I can do without needing to sleep with one eye open. ;-)

Not crazy enough: I made canned soup for dinner and to make it different I thought I'd put some basil in it!
Too crazy: You're home fifteen minutes late so I set fire to your shoes.
Just right: I died my hair blue today. Yes down there matches too.

I agree with dlline; I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want a person with problems of mental healt. Mental issues I can deal with, but psychiatric problems no. I know from experience that after a while love fades away when dealing with a psychiatric problem, and to me it's pointless to keep on a relationship without love {I'm talking about a relationship that is still developing, like further than dating}.

dline: I totally get your point, abusing your situation is never right and if a situation gets threathening you should indeed put yourself in the first place.

Still would never dare to reply to anyone who states a thing like that in their dating profile though. (might be part due to my insecurity)

Dorothy, I agree with you about the curly red hair and curves, but I'm not big on looks either.
I am really drawn to women who can stimulate me, mentally. I LOVE hot brains! I also am fiercely attracted to more eccentric and creative types. As for the mental state, I only require an independantly functional level of mental/emotional stability. I had an ex who used her physical and psychological disabilities to not only manipulate me, but isolate me from those who were my strongest support network. It took a year to figure that out, fortunately, it was before the relationships I had with my closest friends and family were completely severed. After that, I dated a girl who was schitzophrenic, and not the functional medicated kind. After them, I have felt the need to screen for a reasonable level of psychological stability. ;-)

I'm definitely attracted to smart women. Deal breakers are someone who smokes or is a heavy drinker. They also have to be understanding that my family is very important to me. I also want to be with someone that has goals in life that they want to achieve. Someone that can inspire me to be a better person.

Being a good cook is an extra bonus.

So far the only common thread I can find is that they've all been the wrong woman for me.

Every. single. one.

If she isn't going to smash my heart into slivers, I won't give her the time of day.

I want a woman who:
Enjoys a good thunderstorm
Isn't afraid to look like a dork
Loves nature
Sings constantly, even if she's horrible
Doesn't fit any stereotypes
Enjoys a little down time
Loves old movies
Wishes on stars
Loves Brit Coms
Likes to camp
"To days to come."
"All my love to long ago.

Certainly not all of those are requirements for me, but I found that list earlier today, I wrote it ages ago, and it still feels appropriate.

I have been trying to think of an appropriate answer to this thread since I hadn't provided a real answer the first time ... and I do not believe today's answer shall match anyone's expectations of the kind of answer requited for the question asked.

As soon as I verbalise my personal tastes in a romantic partner over here, I shall be recognising my co-dependent ways of relating with others. And that is tricky because during the process of this recognition, my mind shall veil any awareness of that co-dependency since it is unacceptable to me that I could be co-dependent on anyone!

So what makes me feel energised and expanded in a woman? In other words, what do I like in a her? Hmm ....

I do believe that what I like in a woman is how magical she makes my life. So what I like in another woman is in fact what I like in my own self.

my girlfriend is almost my ideal woman: tall (5'8), thin but curvy (sz 6/8), nice rack (she actually had her reduced!), dark hair (i usually like straight hair but hers is super curly), gorgeous green eyes, a perfect, heart-melting smile, long, nimble fingers (played violin for years and kicks ass at guitar hero), great style (looks as hot in a power suit or sexy dress as she does in jeans and fryes or pumas), and smart, smart, smart.

she is also, unfortunately, exactly my type personality-wise. specifically: sweet, sassy, giving, hysterically funny, passionate, fiery, fickle, emotionally immature, narcissistic, and absolutely bad news for me.

sigh.
