I'm not sure what I meant to say, but it was something way less lame than "I'm sorry." I know how little an I'm sorry means in rough situations, and I should've had something more articulate and thoughtful. I guess I meant to say that I love you and that I really hope you'll be ok. You never deserved this to happen and I admire your strength more than you'll ever know. Because I'm too much of a coward to actually say these words.
