OK I admit it...I am a feedback whore of gargantuan proportion...I posted an update a couple of days ago and no one is leaving feedback...and it's driving me crazy...I know...I am a deeply disturbed OCD having individual with ego issues But then again who isn't?

Please read my update and tell me what you think, please...it's funny and stuff too

Anyway, I commented.

When I was just a lurker there were many times I was going to register just to leave comments at the fics I was enjoying, but my innate shyness always stopped me. I would read the feedback left by others and automatically feel my comments would be inferior or wouldn’t add much to what already had been said.

But now, since posting my own rambling tale, I’ve made a conscious effort to respond to the fics that I enjoy, I know from my own experience that even feedback that just says ‘great fic’ or ‘lovely update’ is just as valid and welcomed as those that go into greater depth. I still struggle at times as to what to say to authors, but, they put part of themselves into their writing and I think it’s a nice gesture to acknowledge that in any way.

That’s my two cents worth.

ETA Lurkerdom is ok too. Apologies to any lurkers reading this, I was trying to explain why some people may not neccessarily respond in writing to fics they like but are an important part of the process too. The veiw count is always a good indication of the popularity of any work on Pens.

Paint the Sky, I was interested in reading your point of view on this issue. The view count is certainly a good indication of the popularity of a fan fiction story on pens. Lurking is also relative to the comfort the reader might be taking in group cohesiveness. Self-censorship was an attitude that would come up redundantly during my lurker days. It inevitably led into following a unanimous trend of never responding to stories I would love. Now I have been making up for that by trying to fish out fics I had enjoyed in the past and leaving feedback to them even if the authors are no more members of the Board.
